In a previous post I said that I might use Clickteam Fusion to create my submission, but I honestly think I'm just gonna use Java, because making an engine from scratch just feels a lot more fun to me (and I've also been watched archived streams of Notch's previous entries like 'Prelude of the Chambered' and 'Minicraft' so that is also a motivator lol :P)
Here is a loading animation for you guys, if you liked it feel free to use it on your game Imgur link
Let's go before I ignore this jam's theme as well!
This is my first ludum dare jam!
@fish-sticks and @melon-spirit and I are back after our 1st Ludum Dare in October! I've made some improvements to my 2d engine (based on lwjgl) and we'll use Gimp for art, Ableton and/or Reaper for audio. Looking forward to it!
Oh, and getting my 2nd covid shot the day before....hope I'm up to it!
This will be the second time I join Ludum Dare. Last time my friends and I completed this game: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-35/?action=preview&uid=90769
We were really happy with the result and we are hoping we can do something even greater this time.
Good luck for you all!
Best!
Throughout my time doing 8 Ludum Dare's I've collected several pieces of software that have been helpful. Only problem is there are so many now that I've started to forget about things and then after a jam I'm like, "Darnit I wish I had remembered to use that!" even though I have it installed on my computer. To make sure I don't forget this time around I've created a handy dandy site with links to inspiration, ideas and so many different pieces of FREE software that can help you at any point in the game jam process. Check it out, it's going to become a bookmark on my main browser page throughout this jam so that I can quickly navigate to all my favourite software.

I am in for another round of the Ludum Dare game jam! This time, in addition to teaming up with my son, I also have my step-son on the team. We are looking forward to a weekend of collective hijinks and game development.
can't wait for my first ludum dare
This is the 4th time I have participated in ludum dare. I have experienced a lot from university student to work. The only thing that has not changed is my passion and desire for game production. I hope I can make my own satisfactory work this time.
Hello Ludum Dare! We're Team One Brain Cell and we're in for LD 48! We're going to be making our game in San Francisco (aka the best coast) and wherever LunacyEcho and Miyolophone live.
As is basically routine at this point, I asked everyone for some quotes on what they thought about Ludum Dare 48!! Let's see what they had to say...
And also as is basically routine, here's our list of things we're using:

Hey folks! I'm in, though I'm 50/50 on jam or compo. Unity, Aseprite, and still figuring out sound.
My first Ludum Dare and I've never really finished a game past prototyping. I have been working on one for the last couple months but feel stagnant and too detail-oriented :pensive:. So I hope the chance to really focus down on the important things to get done will change my work cycle.
I was using Unity before, but I tried Godot this last weekend and LOVE it so far, so I'm going to be using Godot and trying the Compo!
In attempt to warm myself up for this weekend, I wanted to mess with Unity and GameCI to see if I can easily get an action workflow to publish a WebGL build directly to GH Pages on push to main.
Things are looking good so far (still waiting for the build to finish), and local testing was successful.
For anyone interested - I am hosting the public repository here: https://github.com/NextFaze/github-action-unity-example
The instant the results for LD47 were announced, I started preparing for LD48. After an incredibly long 6 months, here we are!
I plan on doing the Compo this time, since I did enter the jam in LD47 but my game only had 3 hours of work put into it. With 48 hours I'm sure I can make something that isn't complete garbage. I don't have any specific ideas for games yet, but I am interested in trying either a visual novel, since that genre is completely new to me as a developer, or an endless game, since most of the games I make have a start and an end. I don't really make many games where it lasts forever and you have to get a new high score while the games continuously gets harder, so that's exactly why I would like to try a game like that.
The tools I'll be using are:
Also, a few days ago I announced I'm doing a complete remake of my so-so LD47 game from the ground up. I typed a lot of random details about it here. I don't have any early release photos of the way better gameplay and graphics yet, though!
I feel like I made a bit of progress last time so here's hoping I have similar success this time!
Tech stack:
Engine: Unity
Modelling: Blender
2D: Photoshop (last time I used GIMP... never again)
Sound: Bfxr
Music: Logic X and a few hardware synths
Database (if needed.. probably not): SQL
Although, I have had a desire to make something with web tech so if I go in that direction it'll be .NET Core.
And one final thing... if you're making something in Unity try binding Esc to quit the application.

Engine: Unity 2019.3.9f1
Sound: FL Studio, SFXR
*Art: * Aesprite
I'm not sure I'm ready to be honest but here I am again.
I haven't been able to finish a jam in a while life and work have been getting in the way but I have a good feeling about this.
