What tools I recomend

The tools I recomend are: Unity, Visual Studio 2019, GIMP, AUDACITY, SFXR/BFXR and finally Trello

Theme vote post

Finally got around to theme voting. I found that I liked a good number of the themes this round. Admittedly, I have a tentative agenda underlying most of my votes this time... ;)

Team SWI-Prolog does it again

So if you had this crazy language that could reason, but was invented in 1972 and had no graphics libraries, obviously you'd enter Ludum Dare with it? No? We're a group of crazy programmers who intend to enter LD Jam using http://swi-prolog.org Prolog! If you're a writer, programmer (you don't need to know Prolog), or artist, we're looking for more team members contact anne@swi-prolog.org if interested

Another game to add to my portfolio ;)

I need to brush up on my Time Management skills. In between, kids soccer, Ironman training and helping the missus extract honey from the bee hive, I am so going to find time for this.

I also didn't realise, this will be my fourth Ludam Jam. Yay me!

Lets do this!

Final Round!

Ah, so much green in my votes. This is why I love the Final Round, it's only the best of the best. Naturally some things I voted negatively originally were reconsidered, and vice versa, now that they're actual candidates for LD48's theme.

Some things I would like to note:

  • Deeper And Deeper is certainly one of my favorites because it leaves me wondering "deeper into what?", which is exactly what I look for in a theme.
  • One Tool, Many Uses could be taken very literally! Take your gamedev tools and make something completely original.
  • One funny thing that I would like to have fun with for One Time Use would be if it's some sort of story-based game I make (i.e. visual novel) I could use data storage to make it so you literally have one shot at getting a good ending!
  • You Are The Power Source seems rather similar to Your Life Is Currency (which was a theme I never got to make a game for, but plenty of other people did).
  • Please, please, do not make countless games about stopping the Coronavirus with the theme Containment! I will tolerate games about that if they are funny, narratives, or visual novels, but only if the theme is Containment. (Or if the theme doesn't end up being Containment, I will tolerate pandemic games if they are just really good)
  • And now because I had a good idea matching Garden, and because of the below screensnip, I'm disappointed that Garden didn't make it to the finals.

I'm in!

I haven't managed to complete my last few attempts, but I'm feeling good about this one. Most of the final round themes look either good or at least OK.

(I wish I'd been able to enter LD47, I really liked that theme!)

I'll be using Unity. Depending on whether I go 2D or 3D, I will be using some mix of Blender, Krita & LDtk for my graphics and level editing. I usually never get as far as adding audio, but who knows? Maybe the Ludum Dare Imitone beta edition will get a run.🎵

What's Your Favorite Theme?

These were my votes... I'd say my favorite is: Leave Something Behind.

Well, I can't participate in this one

It's my 10th anniversary on Friday so no game jams for me.

But, I did release ep.5 of Jammers Podcast. This episode I'm joined by LD 47's 12 place game developer, Honest Dan Games.

We discuss our experiences with Ludum Dare, share our thoughts on goal setting during game jams, and as with every episode, we design a game!

Or https://anchor.fm/jammerspodcast for a link to your preferred platform.

I'm In

Hopefully this one goes well, trying for the compo this year.

I'm (probably) in!

Haven't done one of these in a while, but I'm likely going to participate in this one. I've recently started dabbling with Unity 2D so I'll be using that
