Ludum Dare 48 April 24–27, 2021

5th consecutive LD for me!

I'm in again with the same team as I did for the last few LDs (@quack-doctor and @adafheyesh). This will make 5 in a row for me! Pretty excited to see what we can make this time.

In the mean-time, have some programmer art!

2nd Ludum Dare

Last October was my first Ludum Dare. I had a blast and learned a lot. Can't wait to do it again this weekend. Since this is Ludum Dare #2, I'm gonna try my hand at making something 2D.

I'm in!!

Programmer + Godot = success (I hope).

I'm tired of beating around the bush and never getting to do any tangible game development, so I decided I'm gonna be using these 48 hours to learn Godot from zero, and apply that knowledge into making a game in the next 48/72 hours (haven't decided if I'm going to be in jam or compo mode yet, though!). I'm expecting to be able to do something cool, but even if nothing ends up working out the way I imagined, I'm still going to fight tooth and nail to cross the finish line.

Good luck to everyone participating!

there's a one in eight chance I will like the theme

If parasite, shelter, delivery, you are the power source, one tool many uses, automation or one time use win I will personally track every single person that gave those themes +1 locate their address and look with a very mean look at them

This will be my 16th game!

Super excited to finally jump back on the GameJam wagon after so long not being able to. This will be my first game jam in about a year and a half!

If you'd like to see some of my old Ludum Dare games, here's a compilation of my best efforts in one neat little package! 6 of the 7 games were recompiled and reexported for MacOS and Linux, Voice Box's source has been lost.

Don't forget to take care of your Itch.io Page!

Hi everyone,

Good luck in the upcoming jam, can't wait to participate.

I've created a full guide on how to level up your Itch.io game page so if you're an indie Dev or a game jammer or you use Itch.io for your games and projects.

you can see an example of the work here in my entry last Ludum Dare https://fadrikalexander.itch.io/underloop

(If you needed any help don't hesitate to ask)

I'm in (if i have an good idea)!

As usual i'm in.

But i should decide to make a game if i come up with a good idea. The problem is that i suck at the "April's" LDJams ;)

Most of them were bad at all.

Time to break the chain.

Setup as usual: - Aseprite for Pixel Art - Photoshop maybe for "normal" Art - Unity as Game Engine - Beepbox, Boscaceol etc. for Music - Bfxr for Sounds - Rider for C#

However - i really plan to not participate if i am not satisfied with the ideas i have. But as this doesnt happened since LD39 (my first LD) i think i just make a game.

Good luck all jammers.

I'm in!

This will be my 23rd time doing Ludum Dare! Wowo

Last time I did super well! 2nd overall! This time we'll see. I will quite possibly come up with a silly idea that I won't have enough time to implement. Hopefully I'll be able to get something out at least!

Tools: I have no idea what tools I will use. Depends on the theme!

Ludum Deals are back!

After a several year hiatus, it's back with some freebies for you to try out. From imitone, a unique piece of software that lets you control MIDI devices and your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) using your voice. Also development tool Construct 3 is freely available to use during the event.

We did our first official live stream with Evan Balister, creator of imitone. You can find a link to it at the link above.

Support our campaign to add a "Jam Games" category to Twitch

Twitch categories are a bit problematic, grouping programmers and game developers with nature streams of baby ducks. :duck:

Okay yes ducks are cool, but my point is they could use a bit more choice when it comes to categories.

The main one we want to bring to your attention is our proposal to add a "Jam Games" category to Twitch.

Support our campaign to add "Jam Games" category to Twitch

The goal of this category is to have SOMETHING to use when you are playing and rating other people's Ludum Dare games, or if you're a streaming and you are casually browsing jam games.

Here are a few more worth supporting:

Support re-adding a "Game Development" category to Twitch

Keynote, hosted by ... uh... me

Well my grandiose plans for this Keynote didn't work out, and without much time left I settled on a Q&A. Please enjoy.

That's it for now. Time for the final vote!

Let's do this!

Trying to commit myself a bit more by posting here. It's gonna be my first LD, and while I have some programming experience, it will be my first real dip into the world of gamedev. Planning on using Unity and probably trying to stay very small and manageable with my plans for this first try. Good luck everyone!

Redemption

I didn't finish LD46 in time and straight-up missed 47, but not this year. LD48 here I come!

Nice themes so far

noemname/emhgh.png

I voted for almost all of them during the 3 rounds and they all lived. So far so good.

The only theme that was originally in red was Lost Signal. I don't know... my brain can't make the connection somehow. I did vote for One Time Use but I ended up deciding it's both very tricky and possibly too inhibiting. Containment... dunno. Too vague maybe.

The yellow ones seemed either just a tad boring or interesting but hard to pull it off in 2 days. But I still voted for most of them previously.

All in all I like where this is going.

Really good themes!

There are only two themes I hope don't get selected: - Leave something behind - You are the power source

My first Ludum Dare!

This is going to be my first time participating in Ludum Dare, so let's hope that 48 isn't my unlucky number :D

Hopefully I finish this time

First jam I did was 47, I was doing compo (big mistake), this time I'm doing it with a friend for the extra 24 hours and accountability. Looking forward to it!

I'm in for 48

Hell yes I am in for ld48. Don't even hate the themes that much!

I will be using some/any of: - Godot game engine - Asesprite/gimp/inkscape - Blender - Ardour - Novation Circuit groovebox - other bits of synths - recording peoples voices - existential uncertainty - stimulants

I always regret taking the time to focus more on music and fx, so I'm hoping to do a little better this time.
