Ludum Dare 48 April 24–27, 2021

Do not forget to eat !

After a good lunch break, a better idea came up, we retrieved our Sound Designer (implement  song when the song is made)

It's time to share and release our new idea: A perpetually expending circular aerial world, where the character needs to jump between the different platform to reach the promised land!

Cutting my losses

After finding out that bevy doesn't have a simple way to add shadows yet(the engine is still early in dev, so I expected something like that anyways), I'm switching to Godot, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I would REALLY love to implement shadow mapping with bevy right now, but I know that would take me a few hours, because I don't really know the engine. That kinda makes me sad, but I promised myself to take it easy this LD and not get into a situation, where I have to frantically hack something together in the last few hours and shadows are just a must have for even simple 3d games. I mean look at this: output.gif The cubes are trying their best, but human depth perception was not built for this :pensive: Anyways, back to work

Multiplayer Characters finished

You control your (selected) animal with your voice. The lower your voice is the higher you fly

Well, this might have been a bad idea

I made a custom inspector for making levels for day one. Now implementing the scriptable object into level generation next.

Time for a not so DEEP sleep.

Flake Update

Got stuck for a while trying to think of what I need to do next. So played around with shaders and effects. Probably should have been using my time elsewhere.

Got a full plan for tomorrow. Plenty of things yet to do. Hopefully I get there.

Better late than never.

Alright, I'm in! It took me about 6 hours just to come up with an interesting game mechanic. First sketch: sketch.jpg

Going for the Compo!

Creating a game from scratch in C!

This is my second Ludum Dare Jam. Last time I made a game with Unity and it was a nice experience. Since then I've been learning a lot, so this time my goal is to create a game completely from scratch in C. Will try to keep it simple.

Also, loving the theme!

Here I go!

It's time for a journey...

running_1.gif We finally have a plot, and it's based on that asset =)

P.S. It's a mushroom. Yes, I know.

New Idea Get.

... I swear I just typed up a little post, and it completely disappeared when I tried to publish it? Anyway, completely tossing out my previous idea. Throwing out Pico-8 for today, picking up Nim instead. Gonna do a text-based game. That always goes great and gets a ton of people excited... right? :S

ld48 Jam

About 6 hour ago, we finalized our ideas for 48th Jam.
Our protagonist tries to drag world economy deep into negatives by dragging stock market down.

Not many screenshots available right now, but it will be a simple little puzzle game.

Wish us good luck!

Yeah I've decided

It's an absolutely generic understanding of Deep but I have no choice now.

It's not completely uninspiring but.. what I can't do for innovation I'll try to make it up by just making a fun game.

First official screenshot :-)

I'm aiming for a smooth scrolling cave flyer running at 50 fps on a ZX Spectrum. Seems to be doable. ld48progress1.png

Hey Look I'm Back

Just got a ton of sleep and now I'm back and actually capable of thinking clearly again! Seeing as I spent the first 13.5 hours of the Compo sleeping and making all of the time-draining menus and custom fonts and all of that, I think I might actually be able to implement everything I want to, somehow. Sleeping was inevitable and I'll do it again today, so I'm glad that I got the time-draining stuff and sleeping done in a quarter of the Compo since it means I wasted very little time.

Not going to spoil my idea yet, but I will say that I'm excited to get to work on some certain elements of it! The goal of this game is to be much better than my game last Ludum Dare (a very poor demonstration of my skills), and looks like this LD's game might not disappoint.
