Almost done
First solo game jam, and I'm almost finished.

First solo game jam, and I'm almost finished.

I haven't participated in a Ludum Dare for a few years, but I managed to whip something up for the Compo:

Slime Zone is a survival platformer about a slime being chased around a laboratory by a block spewing black hole hell-bent on its annihilation. To survive as long as possible, you must work your way around the blocks with tricky platforming and wall-jumping, and blast through blocks that stop you in your tracks. But beware, different blocks have different effects, from destroying other nearby blocks to creating a mini black hole to fill up the room even more!
Check it out at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/slime-zone!
I think I am done ! I present to you "THE VOLCANO WOKE UP !" !
This is a turn based strategy game (sort of), hope you'll play, like and rate it ! :) Can't wait to play your games, guys !
Oh yeah, here's the link : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/the-volcano-woke-up

Started out game in 2D, since I didn't know exactly what I was doing. Converted to 3D! It's cool, although things need to be re-thought a bit. The 2D gimmick of jumping through the bottom of a platform doesn't work with 3D colliders, so I'll have to try something else. Also need to swap out background, which is still temp.

Gotta add better visuals for mining of course but gameplay and graphics are mostly going great so far

"Why make one game when you can make five games," we said, in a fit of madness. Games within games within games. Leo would be proud.
Here's one of them. You make sense of it because I can't. Or won't?
Jamming on, Happy compo submissions everyone!

forgot about the jam, now i'll make a 40KB NES game for extra format B)
I am also developing a lil console, it's called MES65, has comparable stats to the NES and will support a 'computer mode' so it can be operated like a commodore 64.
I did it! I completed a game for compo! And with 3 hours to spare this time! Huge improvement over ludum dare 49, my first ludum dare.
Last time, I barely finished fast enough to submit it to the jam category. The game had no music or sounds, and lacked a tutorial.
Well, with my new entry, it has all that and a little more. I had to cut a lot of features I thought would be essential to the game, but now with it finished, I'm happy regardless.
To all those still working on your compo games, I wish you all the luck in the world. I believe in you. Just push on a little more.
To all those working on your jam games. . . YOU DO NOT HAVE AS MUCH TIME AS YOU THINK. Seriously though, try and finish up, cause the deadline is right around the corner.
I suppose you could always submit to the new extra category if it comes down to it. Don't push yourself too hard. Your health is number one, you can't make games if you're not feeling well.
Oh yea, I forgot to say anything about my actual game. . . It's like a space game or something? You fly around and trade resources and battle space pirates. Manage fuel. Classic space fun. Here's a picture please use eye(s) to view it.

Ah, and a link to the game page as well: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/whoa-its-like-a-space-game-or-something
If you're feeling up to it, give it a try, and then tell me in the comments why it's terrible and why I'm terrible and that I should feel bad. And maybe, just maybe, come by once ratings are up and rate it too.
Anyways, bye now. Please take care. Good bye.
Submitted my first compo entry, The Saddest Day. Short medium and long games with offline progress! Keep the balloon from popping! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/the-saddest-day

Never thought i would do a compo.
Art and music is not my thing , Bud man i like making games.
I think sometimes its better to work on projects where your not happy with the concept cus it makes you think outside your comfort zone and I really feel like this with this theme, but Im happy with where I'm at and I'm glad Ive stuck it out.
Dino Might is finally "done", meaning it's at least 50% feature complete and 3% polish complete !
Now is the time to see how far into the game you people can go. Probably VERY far since is pretty unbalanced :smirk:

Good night everyone ! I'll see you all in the coming weeks to fix issues relating to "I can't download the game !" or "why is their no MacOS port ?".
And also... Lot's of games to play ! THIS IS THE BEST WEEK
I was posting an update for Rocket Lawnchair on TikTok, an the first sound it suggested to me was Reading Rainbow. Cracked me up!

Now I'm working on a last few optimizations and bug fixes before getting ready to upload the game!

My game is nearly finished. There's a bug in the stage generation that can create inaccessible pockets still, so I need to make a fix for that. Otherwise the only changes I still have to make are for polish, like changing the look of sprites and aligning the menu items correctly.

Finally my game is complete. Remind me NEVER to make an FPS game for a jam ever again.

Here is my Tetris clone:

Oh man. If you are having a tough day and just want time to pass by fast, write a text adventure. This weekend just shot by in an instant.
Apart from the epilogue, I have a complete story. Not exactly as interactive as I'd like yet, there's more to improve in that direction tomorrow. While I do believe everything fits within the Compo parameters, I want the extra Jam day (or evening, it's a work day) to wrap things up as best I can.

After people commented on LD47's Confined that they'd have liked some music while they play a text adventure, I figured I should add some this time around. Cyberpunk, synthwave - they go hand in hand, am I right? I might tweak things further on this tomorrow as well, we'll see.

Remember to shower every day, kids.
Goodnight!

Doesn't usually happen that I have a little bit of time to work after I submit something but I managed to fix a very small bug in my game and add a new feature.
Now if you open a tile and its value is within 2 points of an adjacent tile, then it opens those tiles and scores them. It will not open the 24 tile but it can open the 0 tile. This makes it a little less dumb luck now. While certainly still a lot of luck involved, you get more up front information if you get a good board.
