This is a mess

and it looks like this is going to be another jam entry. As always, I think I massively underestimated how long some things take to implement, and I haven't even got the 'every 10-seconds' part of it yet.
I didn't want to make a progress report with so little to show after a full day of coding, but to future me - "pick something easier!"

So, what do I have: * I have a track editor 😒 * a race track with checkpoints that tracks the cars positions: * distance into current segment * distance into current lap * total race distance * ai cars (which just drive the center line) * all the basic functionality in the menus - I'm grasping at straws with this one - but I can easily restart the level and restart ships at 'last checkpoints'. I think this 'fast turn around' will be helpful when the next features today get added
and here's what I need for a viable submission: * some feature of the track that changes every 10 seconds * collisions * start and end of races * if you smash into a wall (that just closed), then you respawn at the last/next checkpoint
after that, and likely as a jam going into tomorrow, I'll try and improve graphics and polish on the 'feel' of the racing

Progress is coming along nicely...
Because that's not how trains work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just some progress
Alright, so it was a tiring day! Lots of random bugs coming up, but mechanically, 70% of what I want is there in various forms. Still need to add actual level graphics (Dirt and stone mostly) and some basic lighting. Also need to integrate the two main powers...
But the random other baseline mechanics - Respawning, doors/switches, checkpoints, and switching players is all there!
Also made some updates to the main track for the game. It will be a race in the morning to build out the puzzles I have in mind. May need to audible to the Jam, but we'll see!
Updated Music - Dungeon Jazz-ish vibe

Hope everything is going well for the other people out there! I'm learning quite a bit and having a lot of fun.

Greetings, all! I'm attempting to embed my Unity game on Ludum Dare, but the game isn't loading. Inspect element tells me that my game is attempting to use localStorage, even though I didn't use PlayerPrefs anywhere. Anyone know how to force Unity to not use localStorage and/or what might be attempting to use it? Thanks in advance!

The base for my game is done.
Now I need to add more weapon and enemy variants.
10 seconds to finish the burger, get stacking!

This jam we agreed we would be intentional with taking our breaks and having moments to step away from the work so we can let our brains rest and unwind for a moment. We added a morning walk into our list of to do's today.
We just came back from it and now feeling very refreshed to get into the grind!

So here's to a day 2 everyone! Good luck and cheers to the grind!
I know you are all busy with LD51 and all (which I sadly couldn't attend this time ), and you shouldn't be reading my post during these trying times...
But I would like to introduce you to my second game: HexLands!
It's city builder with roguelike elements, set on procedural medieval islands! Expand your empire to as many islands as possible!
The original idea came up during LD50 but I was already working on another idea for the jam, so I put it on the shelf. But now, here it is! And demo is coming soon as well! 😁
Thanks for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy the devlog!

I don't think i can finish compo. Mainly because of my GERD acting up and forgot how strict the time is in Ludum Dare. But for me this Ludum Dare give me a learning experience because i used GML2 again for a long time. Stay healthy and keep dehydrate guys, good luck to finish your game. I'll try again in next Ludum Dare, Ciao. P.S. Maybe i can finish later on extra format.
This is my first person speed-running game that I am working on solo! The platforms that don't actually exist only show themselves once every ten seconds!

Couldn't finish the prototype yesterday :/
Today we'll put all our efforts in building the core mechanics and make them as fine as possible! I really need to finish this skeleton by making the left side pipes selectable and placeable in the right side "grid", then it's time for some events on the 10 seconds mark :clock10:
Also good second day to everyone :v:
Ugly screenshot from day one:

We completed all the basic combat systems. There is now 2 and a half bosses. The half is a boss with stage one completed but for stage two we need to add more dialogue features which is the focus of tomorrow for me. Our character artists is going to have a lot to do. If we can get all the art done this will be coming along great!

Hope not, the generator at the basement of an abandonned hospital works only for 10 seconds at a time.

What entities will the darkness bring forth?

For the first time in LD ever, I'm fairly satisfied with the logic part after the 1st day. Time to make this ~~pretty~~ less ugly!
