Ludum Dare 51 September 30–October 3, 2022

Good job everyone!

poweremsurge/em51.gif Good job everyone who finished the compo! I had a blast and I'm happy with how my game turned out. I'm looking forward to the next weeks of playing and rating games. But first, I need some sleep...

To all of you in the Jam (and Extra), keep it up!

Finished and uploaded! Dieztion!

I would have liked to put animations on it but I've gotten into the mechanics and level design, I can't wait for you to try it!

Made it!

Made the deadline and i'm heading to bed but it's been a blast! Good luck to everyone and I look forward to rating games tomorrow.

Made It

I really wanted to add music to my game, and there was only 45 minutes left. It wasn't pretty, but that was the fastest I have ever composed two tracks in my life. Time to take a nap!

If you put ketchup on your ice cream you aren't allowed to play Stellar Sauce, but everyone else is welcome! Looking forward to playing everyone's games later!

And I'm done!

Wow, this was a weird game, but I'm quite proud of the result! You can play it here if you want: https://mateusboga.itch.io/gastronauts

I can't wait to see what other games you all made, and play as many as I can! Good luck to those who are still working. That's it for me! Bye!

I did it! A game in 32 hours!

I never thought I'd be able to enter a game jam within 2 days, let alone 32 hours (I started late)! I struggled with a 7 day jam years ago later extended to 9 (didn't help much) and I struggled to wrap up the last Ludum Dare for the 3 day jam which I think I also started late! It was a near miss though, 1 minute till the compo deadline for working on the game!

Here is my compo entry: Life is Fleeting

My confidence as a game dev has been low for a while now but I managed to do a whole bunch of things I've never done before. The cursor is based on which direction the player is facing and snaps to a tile based on it and the tilemap position, I created a farming system, shops and a few other bits here and there. I'm quite pleased with that. Weirdly I think this is one of the only projects where scope creep just hasn't been a factor at all.

Anyways, I very much enjoyed this! I had a horrible night a couple of days ago and this jam has been just what I needed! I can't wait to see what everyone else has come up with. The posts showing little bits of progress up till now have been looking great!

If you take a look at my game, thank you very much and you get bonus points if you spot a typo that I knew about and didn't have time to fix! Now... time to chill for a bit.

Working with kids!

As a parent of a very eager and creative 7 year-old, game jams can be pretty challenging.

This year I worked hard to include her in the process and help her see the joy of creation.

She created all the cat sounds for me (future voice actress) and helped with the fully voiced, super-professional, tutorial.

She worked so hard, and now she wants to know when the next jam is.

Check it out!

Well this is a first

For the first time, I think we bit off more than we could chew, we might have something tomorrow, but neither of us can really work on it past today. Dang. The graphical rendering took too long to figure out.

...and no, we're not going to bother with the extended time whatever; if we can't get a score, we don't care. We may or may not give up to make a complete game, but odds are the former, rather work on a different project that isn't LD related.

miam day 2

We have done a lot of tweening, order generation logic, and also some graphics today! :art:

Also making sure that we document all events we use not to be lost tomorrow (ECS can be messy)

Escape the slime pool during the earthquake

I failed to add falling debris etc. Just imagine an extra sense of urgency with beams / concrete falling from ceiling

Arrows / WASD or touch if mobile. aaaaaaaaaaaa.jpg

You can play it hosted here now!

Welcome to recall the fear of the LD Deadline...

Hey my LD fellows! Have you submitted your work? How was your deadline experience?

Hard work and repeatedly checking? What about having a LOVELY CAT that keeps harassing you, that you have to leave your seat EVERY 10 SECONDS? :anger:

This game may not bring you pleasure, but it's real. I hope you will like it :joy:

Welcome experiencing my Last 5 Minutes.

P.S.: I'm so glad that I made this. It's been the most completed game that I've ever made on Ludum Dare.

Curse Of Infinity

I'm really proud of how this one turned out, happy to have gotten the Web Build in the last couple minutes after Unity took a full half hour to generate it. Phew!

The curse of infinite curses applies a random new curse every 10 seconds until you die. How long can you live?!

I'm looking forward to playtesting everyone else's games! If you try out my game, tell me what your highscore was! I ran out of time to make a leaderboard.

Still not tired of coding?

Try my assembly inspired programming puzzle game. Just code and drive with a cute robot. What's not to like?
