I was really hoping to have the core gameplay functionality finished this evening so I could spend tomorrow polishing things up, but I've spent significantly more time wrestling with UI and sprite design than I have on implementing functionality. That's lack of experience in UI/pixel art for you... but I'm not ready to give up yet!
However I did make some noticeable progress:
Some parts require other parts or tools to gather
You can see what you have in your inventory, handy tooltip included
I only have one bit of core functionality left to do: building and launching the boat. I'd also like to add a simple start screen with basic instructions.
Time for some sleep so I can wake up early and refreshed and hopefully get a decent chunk of time in tomorrow!
I just spent 3 hours debugging my pathfinding spaghetti only to learn that if I accidentally set it to pathfind to the terrain馃帀馃帀馃帀馃檲
Who needs a snake charmer when you can get all the practice you need right here! Enter the world of Hebi Heaven, where you can meet vipers, pythons and colubrids all day (in 10 second increments). Take a chance to have your heart constricted while you attempt to woo these legless beauties. I'm sure you will all be seduced by their sways... unless that's just the neurotoxin talking...

It took me some time but I think a heart is worth it. Can't really go without it.
I finally finished my game Blades of Doom just in time for the end of the weekend!
This was my 3rd time participating in Ludum Dare and I had a fun time once again!
I look forward to getting to play other games in the upcoming weeks!

hey! I just came back for my first Ludum Dare in a long while - seems like a lot has changed since my last jam like 8 years ago. I know there used to be a way to search for games by keyword, but I can't seem to find that anymore. Was that feature lost when the LD site moved? Is anyone still maintaining an unofficial browser with more robust search support?

Want to see how long you can survive stranded on a hostile alien planet? Contend with random stat changes and modifiers that change every 10 seconds to always keep you on edge. Play Gamma Protocol Here.
I spent so much time messing around with various animation solutions and root motion, which is a frequent time sink for me because I really like for things to be "just so", and so I don't have anywhere close to what I wanted for a submission. At the same time I had a lot of fun screwing around with animations and applying root motion so I'm calling it a net win whatever the outcome.
In any event, doing so much in such a short time has made me feel much better about returning to my longer-term projects after this. The deadline of the jam makes it so much more essential to be decisive and to use your existing knowledge and skills that afterwards I feel so much more capable than I have in a while.
Long story short, jam == fun even without finishing!
It's been quite the weekend with my first game jam and first game developed ever. I was in charge of sound effects, play testing, and level design, and I learned a ton about recording, editing, creating sounds, and foley work. I think our team has come up with a great little colourful bullet hell game with the prompt. Come try our game, and use the #cliquehellhigh to follow our game on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram! https://sesopenko.itch.io/clique-hell-high
Hey! go play and rate my game on https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/groovy-wars ... I too will rate your games and give feedback... Peace
the game isn't ready

The scope of this game turned out to be too much for me to do in a weekend. It won't take much longer to finish, I'd just rather spend some more time than try to rush things.
Anyway, here's fireballs (featuring placeholder explosion animation).

Made an entry in a day, as I had other things going on this weekend. Still pretty pleased with the result!

Especially when your work is a corner shop. It feels like you get a new customer every 10 seconds!

Plus, my young daughter doesn't help. I love her, but she needs a lot of help!

Our entry is still coming along nicely! :)
I'm super excited to say that I have successfully completed my first Ludum Dare compo! I didn't get much sleep, but it was definitely worth it to create the game I have now. In Soul of Seasons, you must wander the forest to gather pieces of a mysterious artifact. However, the season changes every ten seconds, which transforms the environment and alters which paths you can take.

I was going to post here from time to time, to keep myself motivated and focused, but didn't find time for that, guess I'l do it now. I haven't seen a pillow for a while, my back hurt and my hands are numb, but i finished all the visuals (almost). Thank god for my coding friend, I have no clue how would I make all this alone. The game is not finished yet, visuals are 90-95% done, coding is 60-70% done, it will probably be done before the time runs out , sounds were not been touched at all yet but i have a really bad plan how to finish all of it in an hour. Im not sure if the game will be finished complitely, we have cuted corners left and right, but it will be playable and maybe, i hope, somewhat enjoyable.
Oh, i copeletely forgot, the game, yeah... It's more a toy, or a bunch of minigames tied together, you need to do simple actions in a 10 second timeframe over and over several times in a row, the ammount of things you need to manage simultaneously will grow. We were planning to make much more variants of minigames, so the game could shuffle them and force the you to play different ones, to prevent the player from getting too much comfortable to the minigames, but again, time is not unlimited so all these features will stay in my dreams, at least for a while. Right now we have 6 planed minigames, If smthing goes very wrong, there will be 5, i hope. Oh, I nearly forgot again, one of the minigames is smthing special, smthing you have never seen before, cause to win in it you will need to press ONE BUTTON EVERY 10 SECONDS, yeah, i know...astonishing.
Here is the full game field, you will have to use both the keyboard and the mouse.

After a short night it is time to begin playing all of your games. This is a part almost as good as coding, or getting reviews. I am so impressed with all the games here, in my eyes, all of us are winners.
If you would like me to play your game, leave a coment. If you would like som physics chaos feel free to play my game Satellite Commander. I would be thrilled if you could give me a rating as well.
