Update... sort of

The most common thing people have commented on was the billboarding of the graphics, and that was the first thing I changed. I didn't want to update the original version before LD was over, but I did want to share the improvments.

Graphics have been updated, added some textures, and turned movement speed and mouse sensitivity down to a manageable level.

You can download it from the itch page if you're interested.

Come try our game !

Cellspace IDE update: create and share complete games using cellular automata

With Cellspace IDE you can create games without programming, using just cellular automata rules. Cellspace IDE is now updated with the following features: win/lose conditions, more keyboard controls, mouse controls, title, rule delay, clear level, and last but not least, URL sharing.

So you can now create a full game, and share your game using a self-contained URL. Unfortunately there's a bug in the LD site which means you cannot share the full URL via the Markdown features, so I shortened them with tinyurl.

Short instructions:

Press "Edit" to edit the level, "Run" to run the game if you changed the level or the rules. Games are saved in Cellspace format (a human readable text format). "Open Game URL" opens the game in a new tab, with the source embedded in the URL.

At the top you can select the sprite. Once you've selected a sprite, you can edit rules and win/lose conditions, as well as the level. The plain green square at the very left indicates "ignore", which can be used to ignore cell positions in a rule.

Limitations: Currently you can only edit only one level and you cannot yet change the tile set.

More info on how to work will rules is found in the Cellspace LD page and in my previous post.

Below are some games I made with CellSpace:

Cell Pacman

Harvey Wallbangers - draw walls to make the wallbangers pick up the flasks

Boulderdash - get all the diamonds

Cell Shooter - space to shoot

[CLOSED] Please help my game qualify! (Review for Review!!)

EDIT: Wow holy crap, thank you all so much for immediately getting me over the threshold! It's already going to take me the rest of this afternoon to review all your games, so I'm going to close this post now. Thanks again, look for me in your comments section!

~~Hi everyone! Sorry for the reviews-begging, but I got super duper burnt out after LD56 and now I'm here 3 days until the deadline still needing 4 more ratings to qualify for a final score in the Compo. I'm going to be spending all day today rating games to try to bump up my smart balance, but I'm hoping I can also get some pity ratings from this post since attention really falls off this site as it gets towards the end of the review period. I'll prioritize reviewing anyone's game who reviews mine, so if you're also not at the ratings threshold, let's help each other out!~~

My game is A Bug's Wife, it's a sokoban-like puzzler that I made for the Compo in 30 hours. It's a web game, you don't have to download anything, and it only takes like 10 minutes to play. I put a lot of work into it and I'm really happy with how it turned out, I hope you like it!!

We've Heard Your Feedback!

First of all, we wanted to say a quick THANK YOU for getting us to 100+ ratings on Sammich!

The amount of wonderful comments we've been getting on our game page has been an absolute delight for us.

In celebration of the occasion, we decided to release a special Post-Jam Version of the game that addresses one small aspect of our game that has received the overwhelming majority of complaints from players.

The popsicles are too unfair! :rage:

With this update, we decided to even the playing field. :smirk:

We hope you enjoy our updated version of the game, now available as a separate download on our Itch page!

In order to preserve the sanctity of the original leaderboard, this new version will feature an entirely SEPARATE leaderboard that is ripe for the claiming. :trophy:

Good Luck!

Categories

I know this won't likely happen but anyone else want to have genres/categories for the games made? I love platformers and would probably end up playing alot more games here if I could sort for a certain type of game.
