One major mess up but it's all fixed

so far have only had 1 real mistake happen, went to export a new player model with UV maps, and the one in the engine absolutely broke so I've just spent the past hour fixing it.

outside that Level 1 is basically all done, going to work on main menu UI and Scripts as well as figuring out exactly what kinda data will need to be saved... so far maybe just "is the level completed"

Basic Prototype Done!

The basic prototype has been created in just 2.5 hours using python2024-10-06 12-18-46.gif

Bedbugs Chaser MVP

Wow, I can't even believe I finished the MVP. I considered several times whether I should abandon the idea. There were so many problems, but I still forced myself to complete it. Please play my game, I hope you'll like it!

Good progress

The game mechanics are all done and I am now rushing to get it all linked together and polished. And, like always... I'm leaving GUI last.... dun dun dun....

Almost there!

I had to scrap my idea for an easier one. I will complete the game in the future. This is ALMOST the final stage: Screenshot 2024-10-06 093053.png

The Grind is Real

I've spent a lot of time drawing backgrounds, so let's hope I can get the game to work. Haha. WitchemHouse.png Witch/emGarden.png

I have an idea.

And a proper mockup with some basic code to go with it. No input code yet other than the fact that the "Game" menu has an "Exit" item which tells the window to close as if someone double-clicked on the top-left menu or Alt+F4'd.

Anyway, there will be pressure plates which hold doors open and closed. Probably going to have some specific to a given creature type. Ironically, I went with a really uninspired puzzle game idea ("stuff it, let's just do a lock-and-key puzzle") and then realised that it was going to be a little different.

I decided to use 16x16 tiles, then picked a 32x24 grid for levels for 2 reasons: - It fits nicely in a 640x480 display with suitable padding for the window border. - If one uses 8x8 tiles, then it also fits nicely in a 320x200 display for a potential DOS port.

And no, the art style isn't a placeholder, although I might put some colour into the creatures. ... also I just quickly did a test with an emulated 16 MHz 386DX and it's looking like I might need to pre-render some images. Or maybe not panic over it and instead ensure I work enough magic with dirty rectangles to make it perform. I'm not too fond of going with pixel art for this as I do need the window to be resizeable in the Win32 port after publication.

And as an added bonus, it seems I'm getting weird hangs in 386 Enhanced Mode now. Not sure what happened, doesn't appear to be my code. Oh well, at least Standard Mode works properly.

Keep Calm and Doomscroll

Start of day 2! Not half way yet, but we'll get there! But first, coffee and doomscrolling @wouter52example.png

Silly Rat space tech

2024-10-06 03em03/em25-Window.png

I'm working on a game inspired by my favorite board game High Frontier, but it features my pet rats and Elong. I don't think it will be done for the compo, if anything, I should just publish it as a module for the board game :3

Over 24 hours has passed, so little time left

ScreenRecording2024-10-06035805-ezgif.com-optimize.gif I spent nearly the entire day figuring out inventory management  But I'm glad I did, I never did this before and it was a great learning experience I'm going to do my best to actually add some mechanics. But it's satisfying seeing this project turning into an actual game.

As I've added currency drops from the mobs, you can use that currency to get other items you cannot obtain at the moment. This in turn will let you craft your army of Tiny Creatures :sunglasses:

*Ps. sorry for the quality of the gif, I really wanted to squeeze 30s of footage with textured grass into a gif

Aaaand I'm back

I will integrate the music and create a small tutorial. After that I'll make more gameplay mechanics.
