Ludum Dare 54 September 29–October 2, 2023

Heya! First time doing Ludum Dare. Super hyped!

This is my first time doing Ludum Dare, I'm really excited for this!

Tools I plan on using: - GDevelop or Game Maker - Aseprite for art - 1Bit Dragon for music - Figma for UI/UX - LOTS of Caffeine

Wish me luck!

I’m in!

I took part in the last ludum dare, but never published a game since I wasn’t able to complete it. This weekend will be my revenge and as long as I complete something I’ll be happy :) I’ll use unity, write in C# and then do all the art I aseprite. GLHF!

In, with Squarity

Hi !

After half a year of Ludum-Abstinence, I'm back !

I will use http://squarity.fr, my own game engine.

With Squarity, you can create and share tiny 2D grid-based games directly in your browser. Draw a little tileset, write some python code, and ta-da, you immediatly get your game !

Here is a screenshot of the last game I made. It's called "Grreeny the front-ender" and was done for a not-so-secret-Santa.

You can play it here :

Once more unto the breach

Although I'm a bit sick today I'm still planning to spend the weekend making something

Almost certainly gonna be something in the adventure game genre made in Unity as that's what I like doing these days.

Good luck everyone!

My First ever participation

Hello, everyone! It's a pleasure to meet you all. This marks my debut in the Ludam Dare GameJam. I've been involved in game development since December 2020, primarily collaborating with clients and holding full-time positions. However, this time, I've decided to take a break and create a compact game for Ludam Dare 54. If any of you have any valuable tips to offer, please don't hesitate to share them with me. Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

Let's embark on a productive jamming session! 🎮

I'm in, out of practice, but in

I'm incredibly out of practice when it comes to anything gamedev and haven't participated in a Ludum Dare in 4 years due to various things getting in the way, but I'm in.

Gotta get started again somehow so might as well throw myself into it and see what happens. Going to be using Godot this Time, don't have all that much experience with it yet but I'm exited to learn it and exited to make something again.

The first but not the last !

Hi everyone ! First game jam for me. And I already like this feeling of jumping into the unknown! Slaughtered all themes, and I love some of them (especially keep the lights on). I'm looking forward to play some games created by all of you. I'll keep the scope a bit low for this event, I'd love to finish my game in time. Conclusion: I hope you'll all have a nice jam !

IS IT LEGAL???

I'm in, but is it legal to use "Jam" to move my game from Unity -> Godot or will I get arrested? My game will have an interactable PC that has minigames (that I will make in LD54) - those will be my mini submissions for LD54, depending on the theme.

Game engine: Godot 4.1

Art: Aseprite/Photoshop

I'm in, otherwise I won't be able to complain about the theme

As the title says, I'm in. let's see if I can't make something, something game related.

Right now I'm trying to come up with ideas for all the ideas that are being voted on.

oh also I'm using Godot 4 and Aseprite and probably Reaper/LMMS

Waiting for LD54 with... Godot

I've been learning Godot (and GDScript) for a few days, looking forward to starting the development of my first Godot game ever. I had been mostly using Unity before, it was time to learn new engines. The sample projects are quite educating.

I'll probably make a 2D game with pixel-art for WebGL platform. The primary reason why I didn't choose UE5.

F7Lm8MaXMAAJLIw.jpeg I had started learning Godot by its 4.x version, but found out that 3.x is much more suitable for WebGL games. Web game not working in macOS is a dealbreaker for me.

Introducing myself

Hey, I saw a post by PoV about that you need to introduce yourself in order to get on the whitelist and get the opportunity to post (I hope this is still relevant).

So I'm Alex. I'm 25 years old, living in Moscow, Russia. I try to make games on Unity (i'm a developer, but jams require all the skills :D). I already took part in other game jams on itch.io and finally managed to remember about Ludum Dare in time :D

Maybe someone will be interested in playing my games. I will also welcome the harshest criticism. alexdv1.itch.io

Guessing the theme!

Alright personally I think "Folklore" will win because of it's popularity, any other guesses?

Imma make a... something

I have something on my mind... Or my heart rather. It's not an idea. It's a ... concept? A state of being perhaps? A feeling? And I want to make it into a thang made in a game engine.

I never made anything in godot. So imma make this thang in godot. Also I'm not crunching 48h this time around since I'd pay a heavy price later on. (maybe next time)

Long story short, this thang might suck.

I am at peace with the possibility.

I'm looking forward to this LD.

Publishing Godot 4.1 projects to GitHub.io

Last Ludum Dare, I was blindsided by the changes in Godot 4.x with respect to HTML5 exports. My old automation system for Godot 3.5 did not work any more, so I ended up posting that one on itch.io instead.

I've put together a revised configuration for Godot 4.1 that will use GitHub Actions to automatically publish a game to GitHub.io when the repository is pushed. You can find the configuration and some instructions over on my blog:

When does the final vote end?

Does it end with the start of the jam? I cannot find any notice about that.

Team Trans Rescue

We're Trans Rescue, a small Dutch NGO that helps transgender people escape from places of danger. Most of what we do is deadly serious. This weekend we're taking a break to have some fun and maybe educate folks about the risks trans people face in many places around the world. https://transrescue.org

Welcome to the Machine

Excited for another Ludum Dare! I'll probably end up using Unity for this jam, so I'll lose out on some indie cred, but I've only spent about 3 days total in Godot, and I like web exports, and I like C#. Jams are about having fun and making a good game, anyway, and I can do both of those better in Unity.

Besides that, I'll be going with the usual lineup of GIMP, Blender, Audacity, OpenMPT, etc. Good luck to all in the jam!skull.gif

Turbowarp Firing Up!

This'll be my first LD jam, and I'll be using... Turbowarp! In case you didn't know, Turbowarp (abbreviated as TW) is a mod of Scratch, a language using colored blocks and built-in editors. Don't underestimate me, though! What I lack in power, I gain in versatility-- there are hundreds of open-source extensions to add to TW to add anything from Canvas effects to fetching the Geometry Dash API! I look forward to what this jam is and :fingers_crossed:I hope the theme is usable :)tw.png
