Workers Ready For Action

2 hours and we've almost completed many of the main UI elements - time for breakfast!
I am thinking of a mechanic using simple pieces that you must remove little by little, and prevent the ball from falling into the void

This time we are doing a game where you balance a pile of plates and take it to the customers as a waiter. This time we are around 15 people! So we'll see how that goes. We are now streaming and will probably continue tomorrow here: https://www.twitch.tv/santsasa
So if you want to come see us, go ahead!
This is our main character first concept, YARRRR!! Now we’re going to render a 3D model of him 😳

Frog smoking a cigarette? Check. Purple mushrooms floating in the water? Check. A rather phallic ship shooting white projectiles? Check.
And this is just a beggining. Embrace yourself… Mecha-beaver is coming!

I've got a good start on an idea, but I have a feeling that the artwork could be ... ambitious. Artwork isn't my strongest skill over coding and music. I thought it could be a neat opportunity to partner with an artist looking to contribute to a game!
Any interested takers?

I wanted to join the compo, but I'm already 3 hours in and only managed to make 3 sprites so far. I could abandon animations, and just have the main character "bounce", but I'm already losing a lot of time in assets alone.
So the idea was thus:
"Her Name is Luna" A 2D topdown puzzler Story: We see a small montage of the MC enjoying his life with Luna. Suddenly, a large '6:00' appears in the world and they get separated. Player then must complete puzzles to find Luna as the world falls apart. Leave little story tidbits per level so players realise he's actually in a dream, and completing levels stops him from waking up, till he ends up back with Luna."
This idea is solid and can be done within the time, though with my limited experience, I don't think I can afford to spend the time on building sprites. Do I then switch to the compo? This is my first jam, so I don't really know much about time allocation for things.
I think I have an idea for another game, that doesn't need transitions or anything, and would be simpler to build, where you are in a factory and everything is falling apart, and you have to fix it. Meanwhile new machines keep getting added. No win condition, but just try to get the highest score. I could then spend longer on sprites, as It's all one screen and a simpler mechanic, and use inheritance on the machine scripts for the most part. I can also worry less on sprites, as I just have to build each new machine sprite at later points, so if I'm low on time, I can just call it there.
Please, any input would be greatly appreciated.
Just got out of work, but I was able to check the theme when it was announced and come up an idea I'd like to try. Feeling nervous and hungry, so I'm gonna have some food and then get started trying to set up a base for my idea. Looking forward to the next few days and seeing how unstable everyone can get lol
As usual, I have a low quality GIF to share of my progress.

It is essentially a programming puzzle game. The codes being used to program the movement are arbitrarily chosen--my intention is to have the player find them over time through essentially a different game that they play alongside these puzzles. We'll see if I have half a chance at pulling off something like this--I think I will want to have all of my puzzles done before I go to bed if I want to have any hope of pulling it off.
After a couple of hours of brainstorming we got our unstable idea!

GOLPE will talk about an unstable government, powerlust politician and dangerous mobster knocking at your door. Handle them, decide if you talk gently to them or react fiercely. You are the State, your enemy is the GOLPE.
Behind many good games lies a good story. Well, for me it does at least.
As such, work has begun on the narrative script for our project.

Our game this time around is a bit more ambitious. But with the added knowledge and skills of our guests, Hanna404 and TheDovah, we will try our best to produce something that our entire team can be proud of and that hopefully will be an enjoyable experience for others, too!

So here is my game idea 👋
First of, there were a bunch of ideas i could go for with the theme Unstable. After thinking a ton, i finally went with this idea: My game will intentionally be very unstable and unpredictable, so what looks like a top down shooter all the sudden swaps to become a life sim, just because you picked up a powerup...or it swaps from a sidescroller to a puzzle game because you got hit. Basically, the game is very unstable, it doesn't know what genre it is, and you don't know when the swap occurs or what is triggering the transition... 😬
Gonna try finish up the first "level" which is a top down shooter before i call it for today, progress on what i've done so far can be found in the GIF below!
Leave feedback on the idea if you want!
That's it for now! Good luck with your games! :v:

Ludum Dare starts at 5:00 PM here in the US (17:00 24-hour time), so October events don't exactly have good scheduling on my end. I had some things to take care of around then and by the time I was done I needed some brain fuel. On the plus side, I actually thought about a concept (for almost three hours) instead of spending two minutes selecting whatever existing concept I had!
Status updates will be posted regularly if I actually remember to take some screensnips regularly.
Never completed a game before so I'm not going for anything too crazy, but I'm pretty proud of what I've made so far. The working title is stable.exit(), a game in which you are a robohorse escaping over a futuristic wild west. Here's a video of the game so far!
