LD25 December 14–17, 2012

All done!

I’ve got another party to attend tonight (seriously, I think everyone conspired to schedule events during LD this time around), so I had to wrap things up a little early. I wasn’t able to get to everything I had hoped to, but I feel like I have a pretty coherent finished product. It’s definitely a huge upgrade from the last game I submitted back in August. Let me know what you think!

We meet again, Mr. Mond!

Completed! Here you are, your moment of glory. Mr. Mond is in your hands, disarmed and weak – go, explain him your Evil Plan! But keep and eye on him: good guys are not reliable.

I wanted to add sounds and better art, but I lost precious hours trying to learn how to do all this in ProcessingJS. I finally switched to Unity3D and well, here’s my entry! Enjoy! 😀

All done!

My entry, Paradise Island is complete! In it you play as the evil Dark Lord and must conquer the peaceful utopia of Paradise Island, and then hold off the Knights of Light with various traps, turrets and spells. It s a bit shorter than I would have liked, but I tried to keep it from getting repetitive.

Done! That was fun!

Despite lack of time I finished this crazy project. I’m pretty new to Haxe and Haxepunk, but I managed to make a pseudo-3d engine witch basic lightning and add some gameplay to it just for 48 hours. Thanks all!

And here’s my submission.

A frequent reminder

Well, this contest has once again reminded me what I failure I am, as I spend literally hours debugging such trivial things as “why aren’t my health bars displaying correctly”, constantly regressing old bugs, etc.  Sure, I have a Computer Science degree and I’ve worked in the games industry professionally but ultimately I can’t even tackle the most basic of tasks in any reasonable amount of time.  Why do I even try?

Ughhh

I just had the worst stomach ache of my life so far…  At least my entry is almost complete, although I will have to make an entire website to house the download… it’s doable…

A disappointing game …

I am absolutely not happy with what I have done so far. That’s why I have not polished it before submission … but for the event, I think it’s normal to show you what I have.

So, the theme was absolutely not my favorite, so I have searched for an idea for some times… and I finally came with a zombie game (how original !) but where you are the zombie and you have to contaminate (or kill) everyone else.

At the beginning I wanted to have a randomly generated map, but for some reason (all the maps are not playable), I have only used the generator to make some playable maps.

The goal of the game was to represent an atmosphere of fear, with a lot of dark and some lights where humans can head to. You (the zombie) are much more powerful in the darkness (and actually much faster), but are quite the opposite when you are in an floodlit zone. The game takes place before the end of the world (the meaning of the countdown), and you have to be quick…

What I wanted to have :

  • Humans can fight with weapons
  • More interesting AI

For the design, I’ve tried two sorts of design (zombie and humans), and since I’m not motivated with the game anymore, I have decided to keep it like that.

And to finish this post, I’m sorry I haven’t posted any update of my work … but I’m a little bit ashamed of it ^^

So here is the link to the prototype : http://revolugame.com/games/ludumdare25/.

Bank Job! Done!

My second Ludum Dare! Done! I’m fairly proud of what I managed to make, I hope it’s fun?

Also…plus1Goat… There’s a Goat in there somewhere 😉

well i am unfinished.

this has been horrific! i have got nada. just a walking person in 3d that can shoot tiny bullets.

Mister Misbehave – Finished

Ok, here’s my entry. I’d love to tell you about it, but I’m too tired to do so and I’ve an exam in the morning, so I’ll just give you the link so you can try it out.

I’ll certainly do a post-mortem in the upcoming days. This LD has been a success for me. :) While I couldn’t finish some of the things I planned to do, I managed to come up with a nice game. The only thing that worries me is that the difficulty might be a little on the easy side as the AI can easily be exploited.

Anyway, you play, you decide.

PLAY MISTER MISBEHAVE NOW!

The villain’s dream is moving to jam ;-( >>>> ;-D

Well here we go: the game is unfinished, I’m tired and need to get up early tomorrow.

About three hours ago pretty much everything I tried constantly failed to work the way I wanted so I broke down and borrowed some code from one of my other games. Since 10 minutes ago everything is working pretty well, but I’m still missing one core feature as well as some music and lots of optimization (i.e. bug-fixing).

Meaning: compo’s done (failed). Good luck to all remaining contestants!

But the jam is on! I will finish the game tomorrow as a jam entry.

Another night to dream for all villains out there. Here’s a last screenshot for today:

Done…

I am done, not the game. But I made… Something.

3.30 AM. I better go to bed. Going to think about it in the morning.

No way

I only just started trying to work, and there is no way I will finish in time for the compo, probably not even the jam. Still trying to learn the basics as it is, but I’ll try to have something!!

Home Stretch!

Well, aside from adding some music (I already have sound effects though), and some particle effects that I want to add, but aren’t really imperative and a few other minutia, my game is basically done. I think it’s more fun than I thought last night – the graphics and stuff make a difference, I guess and somewhere in all the balancing I did, I guess I struck a balance, since now my idea of “You should decide between taking more artifacts and being more powerful now, and being safer in two rounds”. Here’s some pictures:

Done Now and Reflections

First of all, I have submitted: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-25/?action=preview&uid=14147

Second of all, this was my second LD and now I want to reflect on some things.

Here is a list of things I think I did better with this LD:

  • I made a more fun and replayable game (The end product was better)
  • I had better graphics
  • I had less time-consuming bugs
  • I was more familiar with my toolset
  • I was more involved with the community and this website (commenting, posting, etc.)

Here is a list of things I think I did better in LD 24 (my first one):

  • I was more in the LD mood (I believe this is because I was following TheCherno on his livestream, unfortunately he wasn’t going in this time but if he’s not in in April I should watch someone else)
  • I learned more (It was my first time making a game in Love 2d, which meant I learned more but wasn’t as familiar with it)
  • I managed my time better.

Here is a list of things I want to do next LD:

  • Hopefully learn AS3 and Flixel/Flashpunk or HTML5/JavaScript and make it web-based next time
  • Be more prepared (I almost forgot about it this time)
  • Watch a livestream

Yah, that’s it. Hope everyone else is having a good last few hours of LD!

My job here is done!

So yeah, it’s safe to say I’m done, it’s not much, but it’s still something.
I wouldn’t say it’s bad, the graphics is nice, and there are sounds, but no music though :(

So you play as the evil boss that kidnapped a princess and turned it into a  .
Now heroes are coming to get you, and all you have is a gun.
There is no way to win, but to survive as long as possible.

If you interested check it out HERE
scr2or HERE.

Good luck to all those that are still working :)

This was…

Since the theme was not to appealing, i was unable to finish my game. However i started plans for a new game independent of ludum dare.
