LD27 August 23–26, 2013

I’m (probably) in

This year I may or may not be in depending on school.

If so, I will be using the Quintus game engine, seashore, and maybe sound.js.

I’m (mostly) in!

I’m in, but I’ll mostly be using this as motivation to actually learn pygame. I’ll be using gimp for assets provided I actually get to that point.

I’m in!

I will hopefully finish a game this year! :)

I will most be using Textmate, aseprite, HML5/Javascript with Crafty.js. Pretty much the same as last year….

Joining for the 2nd time

Hey there.

I’ll be participating  for the second time. I have some real life things happening in the weekend, but I believe there will be time enough to make something useful for there dare.

As last time, I will be using XNA 4.0, and I’ll do the graphics in paint.NET.

I really look forward to trying out all of your games over the next few weeks!!

Good luck to all of you.

First Time

This is my first Lundum Dare and I’m planning to make a complete game.

I’m going to use:

-Flash(AS3),

-Audacity,

-Rintox Virtual Piano,

Almost certainly not in

but listing possible tools in case circumstances change

Unity/2dToolkit

Pixitracker (because its awesome)

Photoshop/Hexels

Pixitracker…. for.. erm.. tracking Pixies?

Flashpunk Bomberman Test Warmup

So this Time I’m planning to use flashpunk instead of crazy random as3 coding.
Problem: I never used flashpunk before.
So, i decided to take advantage of the mighty warmup session to make something, and being a bomberman fan this is what I got:
flash bomberman

Play it now!

(Hoping konami won’t sue me)

Gonna make me a game!

I’m in with Phil Blunt. He’s taken part in 5 of these events before so hope he’ll lead me down the path of game completion instead of letting me create another “game concept” lol.

Tools:

Blender

Game Maker

Pure organic imagination and tangential thinking

Probably some other free stuff…

metaCrow ready for Ludum Dare 27

Ludum Dare 26 Compo was my first attempt at a Game Jam, and it was quite the experience.  My entry for Minimalism, called Miximal, was a little too generic in most areas, but I did manage to pull off a #84 in audio, of 1609 Comp entries.  This made me happy.

Since them, I’ve had a couple false starts on various game ideas.  The Indiecade / Oculus VRJam was next on my list; a 3 week slow jam to create VR content for the Oculus Rift.  The Aug 3rd to Aug 25th schedule eclipsed both 7dfps, and LD27.   Earlier this week, I aborted my lagging attempt, and found myself with an unexpected free weekend, and a burning need to finish a damn game. LD26 was an amazingly positive experience, so I’m back for LD27.

Tools: Unity3D, Autodesk ECS, Adobe CS6, NI Komplete 8.

Libraries: Intro screen.  Seriously, that’s all I’ve got.

Targets: WebPlayer, Windows, OSX, Linux

Let’s do this.

I’m in!

I’ve done a couple of these with teams before, but now we’re thinking of trying for the actual compo and doing it individually.  I have yet to decide, but I’m either using Stencyl or HTML5… not sure yet!  I’m not great at audio or art, but I’ll try my best :)

I just realized something…

“Ludum Dare”… Do you pronounce that as “Let ’em dare”? Or am I completely off the mark here? 😛

It’s latin for “to give a game” and pronounced loo-dum dah-ray, according to these sources:

Where the fuck did you get T from mate? XD I pronounce it “Loo-dum darh-eh” which is the proper latin pronunciation, however, if you want to be ‘MURICAN you can pronounce it “Lue-dum dare” Best of luck.

:)

It’s latin? All this time, I’ve spelled in english instead of my native language.

Well… Looks like the joke failed. :( At least I got some knowledge out of it.

I’m in, I hope.

I’m in. I need motivation for creating a game, and so I’ll try this. My goal is to beat DaVince, mwahaha! 😛

Engine: Sphere

Tools: Sphere Studio; Photoshop; github.

Target Platforms: Windows, Mac*, Linux*

* if you can get it to work; Wine should do the trick.

So I realize a theme and style are two different things, I hope. Because whatever the theme, I’ll have a preesntation style in mind. But sometimes a theme is a presentation style, such as “sidescrolling”, but I don’t think that’ll happen. My first compo outside of RMN and Spheredev! :)

Beat DaVince…. shouldn’t be hard… he’s still trying to figure out how to pronounce Ludum Dare 😀

It’s a brand new year of Jams for me, so count me in!

LD27 I'm inThis will be my fifth Ludum Dare (the start of my Year Two, if you will), and as usual, my tools of choice will be Flixel, Photoshop, and SFXR (and maybe SunVox if I have time for music; I usually don’t).

I’ve been spending the last month or so learning how to implement a raycaster engine in Flixel to experiment with 3D, and while I have no idea if I’ll actually make a game with 3D elements, I figure it can’t hurt to share what I’ve worked on in case I wind up having to rely on some portion of it in the jam. So, while it’s incomplete, and slapped together rather shabbily, here is the source code for my Warmup Entry for LD27. I apologize for the messiness, as I have not had the time to properly comment or refactor it. On the off chance I decide to implement some 3D effects in my Jam entry this weekend, I’ll probably use some portion of this code to do it, unless I feel like starting from scratch instead. Everyone else is, of course, free to learn from this as they wish, although I must give credit where credit is due for certain portions in particular:

I owe a lot to the various tutorials and sources that have helped me to understand the basics of rendering bitmapped triangles to the screen, as well as the fundamentals of raycasting and even simple things like finding the intersection of two lines. Without these amazing resources, any progress I’ve been able to make with 3D rendering in AS3 would have been all but impossible to achieve.

First Timer

Well, this is going to be my first LD, but not my first game jam.

game engine: Unity, Impact.js or Construct 2, depending on the theme

tools: sfxr, Reason 6.0, Photoshop, notepad++

Let’s do this.

Theme excitement!

The final round is around the corner!  It begs the question, what are the people excited for?  Post the theme you are most excited about!

I personally am looking forward to Trust, maybe 10 Seconds, and Shadow sounds cool!

10 seconds and some others that I already forgot.

It’s time for that thing again

It’s compo time! This will be my third compo (four if you count a two-week mini-LD, which you probably don’t, you big meanie). I failed to complete my first LD comp and barely scraped together a working single level for my second LD compo. Right on. The mini-LD was alllllmost fully working, but still key things got dropped proving that I will always code up to the time allotted…

Editor: Sublime Text 2
Language: Haxe 3/OpenFL
Framework: HaxePunk, HaxePunk-AI, Ash-Haxe (ECS)
Visuals: Photoshop, FilterForge
Audio: Audacity, Bfxr, Renoise and some plugins
Version Control: Git … maybe
Base Code: GitHub (older) and zip (latest).

For base code, I’ll be borrowing as needed from my LD26 entry, which is on GitHub, or more likely I’ll be borrowing from this zip. That’s pieces of my fugly source code for reRocket — an attempt to flesh out my LD26 entry Mass Splitter into a fully playable game. I’m still working on it. Of course. The zip has most of the render/input/util frameworky entity-component-system stuff I’ll probably use and regret doing so.

I’m severely sleep deprived at the moment (thanks, insomnia! wooo! you rock!), which I hope to a’right by the time the weekend rolls around or my entry might wind up terribly silly.

Good luck everyone!

I am in for my second TRUE attempt of Ludum Dare!

I was really pleased with my game last time, and hope to do even better this time around.

Language: Haxe/OpenFL/Flixel
IDE: FlashDevelop
Graphics: Pyxel edit or Pickle
Audio: Have no idea. I will have to improvise
Caffeine source: V
Distractions: Sleep and talking my dog for a walk :)

I am also hosting my source on GitHub, and screen recording with Chronolapse.

The April Ludum Dare always seems to fall around my birthday so is not really a good time for me, so I really have to make the most of this one.

I’m in.

LibGDX, or FlashPunk? I probably should have already made this decision.
