LD27 August 23–26, 2013

announcement of idea.

I officially have my idea for LD.

You get ten seconds…

…to break as much stuff as possible.

Title is “Break Shit”, assuming profanity is allowed in the titles of LD games.

Shit is totally fine, just watch out for racist slurs and things. No ten seconds “catch the slaves”…I am going to hell….

Ze Juices Ahr Flowin’!

Alright, 45 minutes in, I know what I am going to do, I am doing at fast paced McPixel sort of “puzzle” game. It is going to be ten levels long, so shortest time ten seconds, longest time 110 seconds, some amount of lives to start. If you lose all of your lives, you have to restart the whole thing. Perma death I guess. This will add “replay value” and might even make some rage quit. I may, or may not do some amount of “randomization” but I am still unsure. Anyway, main points:

-Lives
-Each level is 10 seconds at max
permadeath

-Possible randomization.

Thanks and best of luck!

Go go go

Alright, I’m in. It’s been far too long since I’ve finished something for LD, so let’s do this.

I’ll be working in c++ with SFML. Using GIMP for graphicals. No idea what other sorts of tools I may use for other sorts of things (sounds? how do people find time to make sounds?).

Took a bit longer than I wanted getting things set up and ready to go, but I did it. Here’s a bit of SFML basecode I’ll be using. I more or less blindly tore it out of another thing (that I haven’t looked at in a month or two), but it should work well enough so I can avoid recoding some basics. Fairly minimal, a basic game class with a loop and one game state at a time, plus some entity and sprite animation code.

Time to go make a late supper while I think on the theme (by late supper, I mean like it’s almost 10:00pm late).

Can you test this window?

As a precaution of making sure my entry will work when released, I am asking you, or anyone for that fact to just test a simple window, if you have any issues with it, please comment, I want to avoid what happened with my last entry (no-one was able to play it!), so if you have time, It would be much appreciated.

Link : https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwTX3nOMtaigaHFqeUk0VXlNUFk/edit?usp=sharing,

All you need to do is download it and run it, if a window with a white background shows up, we are golden.

To download, click file -> download, if you so chose, of course.

The window works. But I am a C++ developer. Wait for normals. Lololol.

Did you build with static SFML?

sfml-graphics-2.dll ismissing from my computer so I couldn’t run it

Oh, Will Fix, I’m using dynamic linkage

BTW, did you extract before running?, that might explain the missing dll.

OKAY LD48

I’m in I guess, I wasn’t going to do this Ludum Dare due to other obligations. But, thanks to the theme and thanks to a super cool idea I have that shouldn’t take too much time to implement I’m doing it WOO.

Going to develop this either in HaxeFlixel or Stencyl, haven’t decided.

I’m in guys !

Hey ! First Ludum Dare here :3

Going for the jam with some friends.

We already have our idea, and we use CraftStudio as engine. Scripting in done in LUA, models & textures directly in the program. Music will probably be made using abudant music generateur (http://www.abundant-music.com/)

The game will be multiplayer only, since we have no time to learn how Artificial Intelligence works… It’s called “CraftWare”, and it’s a fast paced “mini game” game, where you compete with a friend in some mini games (We already planned some). Our inspiration comes from Wario Ware, obviously.

Hope to finished our game in time, and hope it’ll be as great as we would like it to be ! Good luck everyone :3

Ideas

I am just brainstorming. Fell free to steal these ideas:

  • You are like a vampire or a ninja that can’t get out of the dark for more than 10 seconds.
  • You are diving and you have for 10 seconds of oxygen. You can maybe collect air from air bubbles.
  • You have a flash light with a 10 second battery life. Again, you might be able to collect more batteries.
  • You have to fight against or dodge holographic opponents that don’t exist for more than 10 seconds.
  • You can understand “seconds” as repeated portions of food. So the game would be about eating as much food as possible. I’m thinking about a game where you catch food, and have to catch the same food 10 (or 11) times in a lign.
  • Make a game in 10 seconds.

Anyway, have a great ludum dare and have fun!

Okay. Let’s do this.

10 seconds? The only theme I voted against. 😀

So I think making a platformer where the level switch every 10 seconds.

And here is my desk. Fascinating no? Smoking is bad for you health kids.

Good luck everyone!

Getting started

So this is Ludum Dare huh?

I’ll be working together with a friend, it’s our first time participating in a Game Jam.

We’ve got a pretty solid (Hopefully) game concept already and we’ll most likely be writing the game in XNA.

Good luck to everyone and have fun! 😀

Very late, but confident

It’s 4am here (theme was released at 10pm), we just finished brainstorming, filled a whole page with ideas, and selected some nice ones, but haven’t yet decided which one we’ll take forward. Now it’s time for a little rest, I just hope it’s not too late for we to start developing our game.  :(

Despite some delay, I’m confident! My friend is an awesome artist (she is incredibly fast too), and maybe a coworker will join us to help on programming!

Now, time to get some sleep (though it’s a little difficult to relax with so much anxiety)! Good luck to everyone! :D

here comes a new challenger

Ready to fight, even the theme seems to be a too short one ^^.

Engine : construct2 ( htlm5/webgl), Gimp, … I will see…

I have no idea for now, but my brain is awake at last.

see you to vote for my submit^^, or on my twitch channel.

If any participants are creating IF, I made an IFDB page for your games to be posted to here.

Kerinova 45 Minute Post

Just a heads up, I will be live tweeting development progress, with pictures at twitter.com/Kerinova_Xeon

Everything, will end up in a massive Bi-Hourly post on the Ludum Dare site, and Kerinova.blogspot.com

Virgin

Change of plans.

Eclipse ADT
LibGDX
BFXR
Paint.NET

I’ll give it a shot anyway.

Sounds like the end of the world

In addition to being a unit of time, a second can also be a unit of distance.  One second is 1/60th of a minute, and one minute is 1/60th of a degree of latitude or longitude on the globe.  What would the world look like if only 10 square seconds of its surface remained?  The area would only be about 300 feet on each side.  Sounds like a great setting for a survival/horror “Don’t Starve” game…\

Have fun all.

Joining in

Now that is a very difficult theme indeed.

Anyway i’m tossing my hat in the ring.

Going to use:

HAXE 3 using Flambe 3.10

PixelEdit

BFXR

A slightly rain damp notebook  (odd that)

and a hearty dollop of confidence.

Ante up.

Good theme, bad sleep

10 seconds is an really interesting theme and I have come up with some good implementations/interpretations. But I didn’t sleep well last night and now I feel so tired. Perhaps I should take a nap before I continue…

1 Decond

decond

noun: Ten seconds; composition of deca (greek meaning ten) and second the base unit of time.
