Here we go, I guess
Nobody cares, but I’m in!
Probably gonna go with MonoGame via C#. (Bad) Graphics will be done with Paint .NET or Graphics Gale, depending on what I end up doing.
TimeLapse will be provided.
See you there.

Hell no. Also, if brain/ability/time permits I’ll be in. I know the last time I looked was LD 28 (which I chickened out on), and the last time I really participated was LD 24 (Evolution), so there isn’t too much hope for me in this one. But we’ll see, and maybe I surprise myself.
Hi. I’m participating for the first time.
I’m using
I see people posting ‘I’m in’ posts and I felt compelled to write one myself. Is this required?
1. AMD FX8350 with AMD HD7970 and 32GB ram SSD blah blah blah!
2.AMD Quad Core with Integrated graphics Acer laptop – screen removed!
3. HP ProLient G6 Server with dual 8 Core Xeon CPU’s ( yes 16 cores) and integrated graphics
4. Lots of coffee
To get prepared/hyped for LD29, what better way than to revisit my LD27 game? I’ve taken the LD27 version Astronomical Odds:
And I’m going to be streaming myself taking it, breaking it and remaking it into something hopefully a bit different, flexing my dev muscles in the process!
Join me at twitch.tv/gigitrix to see and interact with the process!
To the joy of many people who do not exist, I am officially in for this Ludum Dare! Excited to participate for the first time. It will also be my first jam flying solo. For my tools, I will use : Unity 4, GIMP, Audacity, possibly LSDJ for music, and possibly the A * Pathfinding Library.
For the fourth time ever, I’m in on Ludum Dare. Compo, this time. Super hyped for this LD, as usual. Hopefully the theme doesn’t suck, and may the odds be ever in your favour!
Engine: Unity
Language: C#
Editor: Sublime Text 2
Art Software: Photoshop
Audio Software: FL Studio, Audacity
I’m in, preparing for my 2nd ludum dare.
It will be hard to top my 4th place in the audio category last time, but I’ll work hard to make every hour count!
This time I will use the pomodoro work method to enforce regular breaks, which I have found effective to avoid getting stuck on the same problem for a long time.
I will happily take part of the real world gathering in Lund, Sweden, at Sony’s office. So let’s rock their office!
These are my tools:

The game will likely involve android and the smartwatch 2.
Good luck everyone and remember to have fun!! 😀
Ludum Dare 28 was an utter disaster… A final exam got delayed from the Monday before to Saturday during the event (then to early Monday after at the last moment!). I had nearly zero experience with Unity going into it (which turned out not to be too bad of a mistake), and I had zero experience with Blender going into it (the fatal mistake which guaranteed my failure :P).
This event, I’m going to try to be a bit more sane, and opt for making a 2D game, so I can rely on Photoshop (which I’m comfortable with) instead of Blender (which I still have nightmares about!). I hope to use these days before the start to got comfortable with libgdx and get back into the hang of game dev.
Have fun, everyone!
Hello all,
Excited to be part of the LD49! I’m hoping to hone my skills in a particular category during the contest, A.I.!
Here is an simple SDL Template for those who are going to use SDL to use .
The linker is set to C:\SDL2-2.0.3\include and C:\SDL2-2.0.3\lib\x86
so if you place your SDL-2-2.0.3 folder in you C:\ dive you are good to go. (also you need to copy the sdl2.dll)

A quick shameless plug: I released the game I started as part of the last Ludum Dare on Android last week.
Hi there, fellow Ludum Dare enthusiasts. Last year I was working with a jam crew and we called ourselves the Ghost Pixels. We made some cool stuff and even published one of our games (Black Square) to the Ouya as a free title. However, this year I’m on my own, and since I’m a programmer, I am struggling to get game jams done without the input of a skilled artist.
If you’re a sprite artist or graphical designer looking to do some Ludum Dare projects (and perhaps even other jams), give me a shout and let’s see if we work well together. Anything we would make would be released for free and you would retain all control over your own work, so you can reuse it for future projects or whatever you see fit.
I work in either Flash Develop with Texture Packer and Ogmo, or with the free version of Unity, but I am also interested in MonoGame and other game development options. I’m flexible about work flow and open to collaborating on practically any genre of game, provided it is small enough for a game jam of course.
If this sounds like a gig you’re interested in, you can leave a comment or better yet email me,

Don’t worry, it’s not my good email address.
Sorry if I am slow to respond.

So after deciding to stop the last Ludum Dare a few hours in. The reason being that the theme was a joke taken from a TV show, although most people didn’t know that, I couldn’t concentrate because I was so annoyed that it was the theme picked. We’re going to attempt this one. This time around as long as the theme isn’t another TV show quote and someone trying to be funny, my team and I will be in.
My History with Ludum Dare
LD 22: Didn’t complete a game but turned it in anyways.
LD 23: Hard to track down bug killed the game 8-hours before the end of the jam.
LD 24: Did as much as LD 22.
LD 25: Finally finished a game first time. Both in the LD and ever.
LD 26: Finished second game ever and by myself in the 2-day time squeeze.
LD 27: Was really sick the whole compo. Didn’t finish (because I slept too much), but made the most complex game mechanics I’ve ever made.
LD 28: Theme was a TV show quote that killed the fun for us. Came up with a bad idea and started. After a few hours realized it was bad and then decided it’d be better to take a break from this LD and just go for the next one.
Our goal for this Ludum Dare is to simply create another game. For a bit we kept having goals of more mechnics, constrained mechanics, etc. I want to go for simply creating another game this time around.
What we’re using!
Programming Language(s): Monkey X
Editor(s): JungleIDE, Notepad++, Sublime Text
Graphic: Graphics Gale, Photoshop
Sound Effects and Music: bfxr, Soundation, FL Studio, or public domain music/sounds
Library/Framework: XAddon (my lib/framework), FontMachine, Monkey-JSON, MiniC (N.Edition)
-Short Post <_<-
Hi all! This time there are a lot of nice Warmup games so I made my own but i wasn’t motivated enough to make something better so I decided to challenge myself in the warmup and here it is!! My second attempt, but only a wip :P.
This time I want to make something better than what I usually do so I made a Roguelike dungeon generator, it remembers me to The Binding of Isaac’s dungeon pattern 😛
I show you guys this because I wanna give you some luck in this LD!
Guys, make the best games you could do and show all your potential! :3
Good Luck to everybody!
Hello game developers ,
I am in.My name is Alex and this is my fist Ludum Dare and I can’t tell you how existed I am. I loved the idea from the fist moment I heard about it 😉 any way this is going to be a little hard ( a lot actually ) since I am new to game development , C++ and SDL but I hope I will at least finish the game This is what I am going to use.
I am going to have a warm up on Thursday if I won’t have a lot of homework (which I probably will if any of my teachers sees this post 😀 ) so feel free to follow me on twitch

Well guys, I am in! I will be streaming at http://www.twitch.tv/sci4me/!!! I intend to stay awake the ENTIRE time … but we all know that probably wont happen
I am going to use the usual stuff:
As far as sound goes… well… IDK 😛 As you will see if you look at the GitHub, the engine is still incomplete and .. yeah.. trying to get it ready for LD…
So this is going to be my first ld, and I’m fairly nervous, because I always have a really hard time coming up with ideas. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good tools(mind mappers, etc.) or specific techniques, for getting/planning out ideas,
thanks,
Nico
One of the things I mentioned in my recap post for the last Ludum Dare was that I’d like to build a free/open source tool to automate the annoying task of generating poker card images. This is a very niche tool (I’m not sure it would be useful outside of a game jam, where you’re working on a very limited timeframe) and it’s debatable whether it even fits the spirit of the competition.
I pitched it to Mike first and even he was unsure, suggesting I do this post and put it to the community.
The “make it all yourself” rules are pretty complicated (put in place both to encourage people to get their hands dirty as well as prevent people from grabbing premade art off the net that might be illegal or blow hastily-made art out of the water). Poker cards are weird in that (1) they’ve been around forever (like a chess board) but (2) they’re a pain in the ass to lay out and export.
Pros
Cons
Open Questions
Here’s a rough walkthrough on how to use it and what comes out the back end:
1) Choose a Layout, adjust the size of your export images. The box on the right tells you what images you need to provide (and what size).
2) Choose a font from your system fonts.
3) Select images for each of your 4 suits.
4) Choose face cards (select either a single J/Q/K, one each for red and black, or a unique image for every face/suit combo)
5) Export, choose a folder, and you will now have 52 images!
6) For now, I use TexturePacker. If there is sufficient demand, it would be trivial to have the AIR tool export a texture atlas instead of individual images.
