LD29 April 25–28, 2014

Joining LD48

Doing a HTML5 game, maybe using WebGL.

Will also try to make it mutiplayer if time and/or theme permits!

Tools: Sublime Text & Photoshop and if I need sounds I probably go to http://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html

Hope I pull through and don’t give up again like a wuss.

Good luck everyone!

Hallo Welt

I’ll be joining in on Ludum Dare for the first time this year, in a JAM with JNT.

Libraries we’ll be using are:

Let’s go.

Once again.

I’m in. I’m gonna code stuff. It’ll probably be my first public game I release in unity. I’ve been using it for work, but my project for work hasn’t been released yet.

I’m teamed with an amazing 3D artist, and a really awesome Musician, so we’ll make something great for the jam I think.

Battlestation photos? Sure.

I am not sure if you equal in greatness to my battle station, you probably do at the moment since I am down a mounting bracket and monitor. I prefer to leave monitors horizontal and dedicate a window to each one, so no fancy monitor tetris here. Also I don’t use my laptops/tablets for gamedeving so only my desktop peripherals are on my desk.

Fiona – should be fixed now

Plus One to Ludum Dare :) Very Excited

First time on ludum dare, any last minute advice for a newbie?

Will be using the following:

Java – not my favorite language out there… but

LibGDX – is fantastic to use!

Eclipse – all set up with a gorgeous dark theme!

Gimp/Photoshop – whatever is good for what I’m working on in terms of graphics

Sfxr – for sound effects

if I have time I would like to use either LMMS or Musescore to write my own music, otherwise I’ll try and find some ambient track generator

Got a busy week coming up after this weekend for school, but hopefully will find some time during and especially after to play everyone’s…. some… of your games!

Getting close!

After playing around in java and c++ for a few days I decided that I will use c++ this time. This decision is based on the fact that I have already used java for LD a few times and this would be a great excuse/opportunity to expand my engine. The engine code is at https://github.com/djdduty/BearClaw (and has been for awhile) and I will be using it for this LD(if all goes well). I have not yet decided whether I will go 2D or 3D, but I added some 2D code to the engine. Even though it only took my like 5 minutes I figured it is better to have it now and to know it all works fine (mathematically, since I use GL >= 3.x).

That is all, carry on.

super jam fun time

Weapons of choice: LibGDX, Pixlr, SFXR, Audacity, PS2, beer

Using a small test I wrote this week in Scene2D for UI purposes, as all of my previous games have had horrendous UI.

Convinced it’s probably going to be Break the Rules

In again, for LD29

I’ll be participating in the upcoming compo, this will be my third LD!

Here’s my setup:

Language: Java

Framework: LibGDX + Base Code

Sounds: bfxr

Graphics: Paint.NET

Timelapse: Chronolapse

Might be streaming as well later on.

I’m in for the compo, 2nd time

Very excited to join this 29th edition of Ludum Dare.

l’ll be using HTML5/canvas with  CoffeeScript (no framework). I may use some of the code I wrote for LD28.

And PhotoFiltre for pixel art :)

Good luck everyone !

Uh oh… a PR guy is making a game for Ludum Dare.

And that guy is me. I’m working for a PR agency that as of December has been doing work for indie games. My skills are raising sales, pitching the news, establishing key message platforms and all that business garbage that has little to do with the games themselves.

To be fair, I’m also an indie game dev on the side. My friends and I are making a space themed strategy game (in an effort to combat our industry’s massive shortage of space games in recent years <_<). But I’ve only learned programming (C#) and 3D modeling (w. Blender) over the past year and a half and am still quite the novice at both. Worse yet, our engine is proprietary and incomplete so I can’t even use the skills I’ve been learning recently for Ludum Dare: I’m going to have to re-learn Gamemaker 8 which I put down years ago and haven’t touched since.

I’m entering because I think it’ll be fun, but I’m posting now because while making a game with the rest of you guys, I’m interested in seeing how our perspectives in making a game differ, and how that will affect our end results. Certainly my skills are far below most participants, but I’m more interested in seeing how my perception on gamedev, dominated by my constant thinking of media presence and exposure and whatnot, will change my experience. Doing Ludum Dare and following everyone else on Twitter/IRC should hopefully give some insight on how most game devs and their businessey counterparts differ in their approaches.

Hopefully some of you might find this interesting. If so, I’ll be Tweeting about how my game’s going with updates and pics throughout the weekend at @QSE_Gaming. You can also use that account to accuse me of doing a publicity stunt.

Good luck with all your games!

Chris

I’m in.

Let’s do this! It’ll be my second LD48 – first was a couple of years ago and I’ve kind of fallen out of the gamedev habit since. Time to get back on the horse!

Tools I’ll most likely be using:

  • Unity / C#
  • Pixen or Inkscape for the gfx
  • sfxr and/or iPhone voice notes app for sfx
  • GarageBand and/or iPhone voice notes app for music

And maybe something else that I decide to download in a blind panic over the weekend.

Going to try and do a time-lapse video this time out too.

Good luck everyone!

Entering LD29, for realsies this time

I meant to enter LD28 but when I was underwhelmed by the theme I didn’t even try. It’s been a while since I’ve really done one of these, and I feel like I am ready to kill myself trying to make a game in a weekend again! No “bad theme” excuses allowed this time. I’m going to make an honest attempt, even if it’s something dumb like a jrpg where an npc mentions the theme in passing, like “This accursed rain… You know what they always say young sir. ‘It never ends'”. And then a couple minutes later, “Huh, look, the rain stopped. I guess it ends after all.”

Anyway, I intend to use python+pygame, and build an engine around the new/old-fangled entity component architecture. Rather than what I usually do, which is make an NPC class and then make everything a special case of NPC. (Projectiles, scenery, items – it’s all npcs!) That usually works well enough for the type of games I make, but gets annoying to work with whenever I try to expand beyond a compo time limit.

And actually, none of the themes strike me as too terrible for once. I think it’s going to be a good weekend.

I’m in!

This will be my third Ludum dare, so I guess when this is over I can say i’ve done it for a whole year…wow time flies.

The tools I will be using are…

Unity – i’ll be scripting with C# this time, instead of JavaScript like my other Ludum dares.

Blender – For any 3d models I do.

Gimp – for 2d images

Bfxr – for sound effects

Audacity – for any other sound effects I record in real life.

Sonvox – If I do any music, which I doubt I will, but you never know, maybe i’ll get really ambitious.

I feel very ready, I did a Easter jam a last week for practice, and what I came up with was quite large and complicated for me. (http://www.kongregate.com/games/shatley/e-day)

I can’t wait!

Brainstorm with benefits

New LudumDare, new game!

Fernando Scaff Moura, Fernando Perazzoli and Davi Santos (with Adalberto Rodrigez in the future)
together to do something simple, practical and interesting.

The beginning of this journey is always exciting, but we know it will be a long and painful battle. but we have beers!

Let it go!foto1

Another try at this

After I have downloaded the perfect fonts, my perfect keyboard has arrived, I’ve made my perfect dinner and I’ve researched the perfect framework and I’ve bought the perfect snacks….

This time something shall be submitted….

(procrastination anyone?)

*I plan on livestreaming on twitch this Saturday to reveal the library. It’s all pretty funky.

Hope everyone has a great time participating!

I’m in?

Hey this is my first time doing this particular jam. I’ve done one other jam before.

I’m going to be hanging out with some Chicago folks. I don’t think any of us are doing the compo. I’m not sure if we’re going to work together or not.

Whatever I do, Photoshop will probably be involved, since I’m an artist.

Odds are 3D Studio Max will be involved!

If I go it alone, I will probably use Game Maker Pro or Unity Indy, depending on what the theme inspires.

I am mostly a designer and an artist, so if I do this one my own coding will be limited to simple stuff.

I’m in!

Hey!
I’m joining the ludum dare 29 jam with a dude(ss) called `composer`.

stencyl code for jumping panels

I considering the idea of jumping to different sections of a screen for whatever game I’m going with. Here the code I just made in stencyl to do that.

Good luck all.
