Looks Like I’m In The Jam

So I’m participating in the jam as opposed to the Compo for once.  I’ll be joined by a few of my friends and livestreaming the whole thing on twitch.  We plan to use Unity3D for the engine of choice, every other tool is kind of undetermined right now until we see the theme.

  • Team Name:  Check
  • Copious amounts of sugar and caffeine:  Check
  • Livestream setup:  Check
  • Checklist of things to check:  Check

I think we’re good to go, have a great Ludum Dare everyone!

Oh, there’s a Ludum Dare this weekend

It’s been quite awhile since I attempted one of these.  Most of my weekend is free.  I think I might give it a go.

Now, do I try my hand at Lua, or stick with Python?

Hmmmm

LETS DO IT

Codebase

Hi guys.

I don’t know yet if I’m going to do this. But I wanted to share first just in case.

I’m planning on using the tools I know the best, so, C++ (Visual Studio 2013) with OpenGL, SDL, glfw, glm, glew, stb image, stb truetype, assimp, etc. And I might throw in code that’s on my github or from old crap I did.

https://github.com/msklywenn

http://lywenn.eu.org/bazar/glcrap.zip (will not compile and run directly, I removed a lot of files to make the archive smaller like above mentioned libs and crytek’s sponza scene, etc)

Something I’d like to try, if I do this, is move away from usual object oriented programming and go more C-like. Maybe try an half-ass entity-component system, I don’t know.

Even if I don’t like it, I guess I’ll be using the STL. I still didn’t find a free replacement I like and still didn’t properly do one myself.

Oh, and I might use

– processing for rapid prototyping

– photoshop, blender & pbrush for graphics

– renoise, audacity & samples from freesounds for audio

– fonts from google fonts…

Compo, Jam, Who knows

One thing is for certain… I’m in.

Depending on how things go over the next few hours I may or may not be joining up with some colleagues to do this jam-style. Anyways, here we go:

PLAN A:

  • Unity 3d
  • Blender
  • Notepad++ (Monodevelop can kiss my ass)

PLAN B:

  • GameMaker Studio

Likely being used in either case, assuming I get to these things:

  • AESprite
  • BFXR
  • LMMS

And… assuming I’m using Unity… I may try to sneak my tile system in there. This is very similar to what I’d put together for my “Coggoid” engine a while back, just implemented in Unity now. Frankly I don’t see how people even get started on making some of the worlds they do without something like this, but more power to them.

As always, best of luck to all the participants. Wasn’t really feeling any of the themes in particular in the final round, and I’m pretty sure I’ll hate whatever it is… but that’s no reason to not make something awesome anyways. May the entries that get the highest scores win!

Once more into the breach!

…wait a minute, there’s no breach, there’s just this huge wall!

This will be my fourth time doing #LD, and like last time, I’m going to take it easy and see where the weekend takes me.

I’m going to take advantage of Ludum Deals and try out PlayCanvas. Seems like a pretty cool tool.

Plus, all code will already be on line, so you can follow my progress here:

https://playcanvas.com/davidarndt/

Other tools that might be used: Blender, Photoshop, Ignite, NanoStudio

Best of luck to all participants & remember: have fun, be creative!

I’m in!

And this time with Phaser instead of Unity! This was a decision I took  yesterday and with no experience in Phaser, so this Ludum Dare is going to be interesting for me. I will also use Ubuntu 14.04 for the jam, so I can’t use all the programs I use to (like Paint.NET).

Tools:

  • Framework: Phaser (javascript)
  • Text Editor: Sublime Text 3 (free edition with popup)
  • Graphics: Pinta most probably
  • Sound Effects (if time): bfxr
  • Music (if time):  Bosca Ceoil (if feeling brave) or autotracker.py

Also created a github repository for the compo with Phaser and a index.html template. Now (maybe) for some sleep.

Good luck everyone!

@MechaGK

First-timer here…

So I finally decided to enter LD! (I’ll most likely end up in the jam, though)

Tools of the trade:

– Probably Unity & C#… I might go out of my comfort zone and end up with pygame or Phaser or something entirely else for that matter…

– Blender / Gimp / GraphicsGale

– A combination of Zynewave Podium, cgMusic and my guitar…

I’m in!

My first Ludum Dare wanted to do this for a while .Hopefully I can finish a decent game in time.

Language: Java

IDE: SublimeText

Libraries: Processing / Processing.js + code  from the small games I’ve made in the past which you can find here: https://github.com/chipset1?tab=repositories

GLHF 😀

I’m so IN.

This will be my sixth Ludum Dare, and I’m still both excited and afraid about it. I fully made my transition from XNA to Unity, and now is time to see how good my new tricks are.

I enhanced my workflow quite a bit and I will be able to do some things I never could before. It will be a trial by fire of both my tools and personal efficiency.

Wish me luck.

First Ludum Dare!

I will be entering this ludum dare with the sole intention of getting something out with little graphical emphasis, more to practise my code and make sure everything is working, also it will be great practise for my final assignment using both AS3 and flashpunk!,

This will be entered in the Jam!, not the compo,

so some of the programs I will be using are things like:

flash builder – AS3/Flashpunk engine

photoshop

flash professional

music from incompetech

sounds from bfxr

and a few more, that i will list if i come across them!

LD29, let’s do this!

The BlueBit Studios Team is taking part once again!

We’re planning on a game of the 2D variety, and these are the tools we will be using:

IDE: Eclipse

Art: Paint.NET

Music: FLStudio 11

Timelapse: Chronolapse?

Source: GitHub

Stream: twitch.tv/BlueBitStudios

Preparations for my first Ludum Dare

Three hours to go . . . is it too late to do some preparation? Frankly, I have little idea of how to prepare. As this is my first Ludum Dare, I thought I should try to do at least some preparation. Perhaps if I’d spent more time preparing to prepare, I’d have more of an idea of how to prepare. At least I know for next time.

So far my preparation has consisted of two things:-

  1. Deciding what I will me making a game in
  2. Setting up an empty git repository

I will be making my game in HaxeFlixel. This was originally a port of the popular AS3 Flixel library to the cross-platform Haxe programming language. I think it is fair to say that HaxeFlixel has since surpassed being a mere port, with many new features and improvements.

My git repository can be found here: https://github.com/JoeCreates/LD48

Good luck to all you other guys doing LD for the first time!

I’m in :D

Hi everyone!

Its ludum dare again.

Gonna keep it short so…

Ill be using Contruct 2 again (Can’t get enough of it.)

Graphics: GIMP2 and Inkscape Because i’m not great at using either of them.

Audio: Sfxr and FL studio

I might do a bit of livestreaming during this but i will most probably be doing update posts. Since its easier to look back at posts rather than watcch a large video.

As for everyone entering Good luck!

I always like to play everyones interpretation of the theme.

We are IN!

We are IN for Ludum Dare Jam.
Our team: Brigita Linerova, Vaclav Spiral and me.

Our game will be (probably) based on Unity again.

I wish you all a good time during Ludum Dare 29!

Construct 2 Template

Hello everyone!

Here’s my template I will be using for construct 2.

Has a title > game > victory layers and functionality.

Also has a defeated state and reset.
