LD30 August 22–25, 2014

Video Game status: 100%

My game, Greener Grass, is complete and ready to play!

ldscreen1

The idea is that you make your way up to the constantly cycling portal above your world, in search of the one universe that doesn’t entirely consist of a bottomless pit with various hazards floating above it. Unfortunately, you don’t have much luck with that.

If you’re a fan of challenging platforming madness and ice cream, then you’re in luck, because this game has plenty of challenging platforming madness. Click here to play it, and then maybe get some ice cream afterwards.

dunno – unnona

Wooohooo, my (second) entry ‘unnano’ is ready to get played by you.

Play & Rate it, please: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=12061

Unfortunetaly, I didnt have enough time for music or special effects :/ I wasted my time with collision detection and animations 😉

And the second disclaimer: you can shoot the big balls, but they neither fight back nor hurt you :)

I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the last 47.5 hours.

Now: PLAYING ALL THE OTHER GAMES!! \o/ \o/

Finished my first LD c:

I just finished and uploaded my entry, Double Dimension. This was the first LD I’ve finished (I’ve tried 3 overall, I think). The game definitely isn’t great, but I enjoyed working on it and learnt quite a few things along the way.

HELP!

I cant get the Google Drive Publishing working anymore!

There is no Preview-Button as there used to be. I can only open my html in the Google Docs app, and there is no button there either.

How do i fix this?

Are there any alternatives? As far as i remember Dropbox doesnt support publishing anymore.

Yout can’t publish HTML on Dropbox any more? Just drop it in your public folder, should work fine. I have a game up there from last year and it’s still running now.

Alright, i dug out my old Dropbox account, where i could still have a Public folder. That does not seem to work on newer accounts.

Google drive still works, too.

Make it public to web and then use the following url to access the site googledrive.com/host/[id] , where id is the id of the directory you published. You can read the id in the right infobox, if i remember correctly.

Finished!

Ah, about half an hour from the deadline, it’s finally time for me to start breathing steady again.

I’ve finished.

While, in the end, the visual novel turned out to be more like a text adventure than an actual game, and I never got to dedicate any time to music or art, I still think the project just might be able to stand up on it’s own. The link to the game’s right here, if anybody’s interested. http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=6463

Here’s the first couple sentences of the blurb I wrote down on the game’s page, if someone want’s an idea of what it’s about:

“The story follows two brothers and their father throughout their lives together and apart in the near future, starting in the year 2074. In this future, all of the Earth is governed by a utopian government known only as the Empire. “

More information on the game’s page.

This was certainly a fantastic adventure, everyone. It’s been great, and I can’t wait for next time.

Elementals : WIP

elementals-faces

(Screenshot) I don’t know why I give the characters such creepy faces: the game is a basic platformer XD

Engine: done

Graphic assets: done

Tomorrow, I’ll have to do all the level-design & the sound fx. Everything should be done without too much panic for the Jam. (And I will even have time to watch some 30 Rock episode).

Just submitted my entry …

It was my first time participating and I’m happy that I created something that at least works. It showed me, that I’m not that good with Photoshop 😉

Bi-Bob Screenshot

Doesn’t look good, but it works. It was intended to be a bit longer but I hindered myself with nonsense.

In “Bi-Bob” you control one person in two different worlds. The two worlds have some similarities but big differences as well. With the character of one world, you can affect the other world and you need to do this to progress. On the way to the end two stories are told.

Give it a try, if you like.

It was fun working on it and I finally took my first steps in the 2D Area. I learned something, which is all I wanted to do with this project.

Good Night and Good Luck to everyone in the rating phase …

Submitted, Finally!

Just finished my first Ludum Dare game, and I had a blast this weekend.

I really enjoyed seeing something I created progress so fast and I look forward to seeing what awesome creations others have churned out in the past 48-hours.

Caught Between

Here is the game: http://rooter4.itch.io/caught-between-ld30

So… Next Time!

Yep, it turns out being busy all weekend for my first Ludum Dare was a mistake. Also, using Unity for my first one may also have been kind of a mistake since I spend probably a third of the time learning to use it.

But you know what? I had a lot of fun! So this was a bit of a wash (although I did make the submission for the hell of it), but next time I’m hoping to make a real showing!

All Done

All done and uploaded, I’ve had a great time and will definitively take part in the future. Here is a screenshot of my finished game:

Jam H-24 (+15min)

The game engine is functional and it’s already pretty, so we’re happy!
It remains a day for music, level design and some polishing :)

done

So very, very lovely.

This. Or the equivalent of this (in Unity I expect there is a button that says ‘Magic’ and your game is suddenly on-line). How awesome is it to watch this last build of your project? After 48 hours of intense creativity, there it is!

Just thought I’d share the feeling. :)

Finished!

Just finished ‘Life VS’ ,  an arcade puzzle game inspired by John Conway’s Game of Life

Finished with my entry for LD30: interball

Alright I ended up using plain old Unity… well it’s the Unity 4.6 beta, so it was pretty fun (and annoying) trying out the new features.

Anyways, I went with a very minimalist, color-centric design for my game. Simple touch/click and drag controls and fast action to try to get a high score. I’m pretty happy with it!
