LD30 August 22–25, 2014

We are in!

Hello everywhere!

We are team from here:

1

Is’s first time LD for as, but we looking forward to make this stuff. Good luck everyone!

I’m in! First Ludum Dare

I always wanted to participate, but never had time. This time I will try to get something done. I am really unsure where it will finally end up, but hopefully it will something to show 😀 Let’s hope that not that much will rush me on my B-Day at Sunday.

  • Language: C#
  • Engine: Unity3D (also for 2D)
  • Audio: BFXR, abundant-music, Audacity
  • Graphics: Photoshop, 3DS MAX
  • IDE: MonoDevelop

Good Luck and have FUN!

I’m in (I think..)

This time i’m alone.

My tools:

There we go, where we never were before

Hi there,

So this is our first LD-Jam we gonna take part in. Hoping for some really cool experiences and hopefully a working and finished game.

What we will use:
Unity, GIMP, maybe Blender and Techno5.

We wish everyone best luck and a lot of fun,
See you at the rating =D

Because I am dude lee

Woah hey dudes it’s Dude Lee here to inform you all that myself (Dude Lee) will be participating for the first time ever. Surf’s up dudes, catch a wave.

I’m gonna be using Java you duckies and paint.net I guess but LWJGL can be a bummer man so I’m gonna give it a miss. Raw java power man.

See you in the water dudes. I’m Dude Lee.

My first Ludum Dare

This is my first LD. If I finish I’ll be happy. I’ve only been learning programming,  art, and making games for about a couple months. I’ve been making music for substantially longer, so hopefully my game can include some of that. It should be nice to get away from the game I’m working on and get something done in a hurry.

Tentative list of tools:

Engine: Unity
Language C#
IDE – MonoDevelop
Art – Blender (3d) or paint.net (2d): not sure if both will be used yet (dependent on theme/idea)
Audio – FL Studio
I’ll let you guys know if anything else ends up being used.

Good luck to all!

Virgin Dare

This will be my first Ludum Dare and first time using this workflow. I’ve chosen to do the Jam, as the 72 hours will make it a little more laxed, however, I’m working Monday, so I’ll miss out on a day of coding anyway. Tools I’m using:-

  • haxeflixel
  • tiled
  • Game Character Hub
  • cfxr
  • Fake Music Generator / Jamendo

Those who dare win, right ?

Another First Timer Jumping In!

Howdy howdy!

Another first timer jumping straight in. I’ve decided to go right in with the competition even though I know my weekend is actually pretty full already. I’ll not doing anything even remotely fancy, but I want to have some fun with it!

To add to the fun, I’m planning to be using Unity2D, which I’ve installed but never actually got around to learning. I’ve just spent a good evening learning through some tutorials and documentation and… well, it might be rough, but I think I could at least make something over the weekend.

Alternately, I might just into using HTML/JS stuff if I end up not pursuing a game idea that suits Unity (some kinds of puzzle games, other things like that). Have to see what that pesky theme is!

I’m not planning to use any pre-made code/assets although I will, of course, be taking full advantage of all the wonderful work that Unity does for me if I use Unity.

Gah, excited!

TeamRPC

Ok I’m doing the Jam this weekend with my brother, @Jack_Recon. He is our artist and I am doing code. We are TeamRPC.

We will be posting our project on github.

So ready! (SPOILER: Not actually ready)

I’m excited! Ludum Dare! Waaahh!

Looks like this will be my 7th time, and hopefully I’ll make something good to show for it. I’m finally ditching my outdated, bug-ridden Javascript engine for Unity until I can make a less bug-ridden engine. I haven’t done much in Unity yet, so we’ll learn a bit on the fly.

Using Unity (free), GarageBand and/or Logic for audio, Paint.NET for spriting, and…maybe some other things.

Goals:

  • Use Unity (ambitious, right?)
  • Spend more than 3 hours on music (I studied this. I should be able to whip up something really good.)
  • Make something fun! (I also studied this. Also should be good.)

Those are pretty vague, I guess. Whatever. It’s late right now, and I’m still a tad burned out from moving recently.

I’ll be streaming at twitch.tv/furretturret for a good amount of the time. I’ll be at work when the theme is announced, so it’ll be a bit late, but I’ll play a healthy amount of Sonic rock to make up for it. =)

GLHF!

I’m In (a video)!

Me again!

So I’ve gone ahead and used the fancy new cheapo fixed zoom lens I bought recently to show off the gear I’ll be using this Ludum Dare. Just a bit of fun, knowing that 24 hours from now I’ll be in meltdown.

Take a look!

I’m in!

Hey, just throwing my hat into the enormous internet sized ring. This will be my first Ludum Dare!

I will be using play-clj, a clojure library I’ve been playing around with for a little while, as well as the GIMP and Inkscape, or possibly paint.net. If I get to the stage of needing sound effects, I’ll most likely be using sfxr. I’ll be coding in trusty old vim.

Really looking forward to it, but also oddly nervous now.

Looking forward to seeing what you all make!

Im in !

been idle for so long, missed prev LD, it hurts :/
so it’s time for revenge, let’s do it
goodluck peeps

6x Ludum Dare

Looking forward to another Ludum Dare. Haven’t really been looking over the themes or thinking about ideas too much. Maybe a couple hours before it starts, after I wake up.

Tools:

  • iMac 16g
  • Unity 4.5.3 (2D game, retro style)
  • UnityScript / Sublime Text 3
  • Pixen for art (switching to Piskel as soon as they add a few more features)
  • Audacity / cfxr (never have time for music and no skill at it)
  • WireCast to stream to Twitch (streaming on a Mac is a pain in the dick).

Looking to keep scope really small so I can maximize polish. Thinking portrait, one-touch game again, like last time. We’ll see how the themes go.

Obligatory desk shot:

Where the magic, will (or will not) happen.

Where the magic, will (or will not) happen.

I should be streaming the whole affair over on my Twitch channel. Feel free to follow and drop by sometime.

In with a grin

I’ve been looking forward to the next LD for at least 3 months!  Who knows what wonders the next few days will bring? :)

Tools:

  • Unity – for the game engine
  • Photoshop – for 2D graphics/textures
  • GarageBand – for music!
  • Blender – for 3d (maybe)

Let’s have some fun and make some sweet games ladies and gents!

I’m in

Wow! Two years since my first participate in Ludum Dare. Still as excited as in the very first time.

My tools have changed. Last time I was using Linux Mint, Sublime Text and JavaScript. Using Linux made me more productive so I managed to earn more money and could afford a new Mac :)

Screen Shot 2014-08-22 at 12.06.46

So this time I’m going to be using:

  • MacBook Pro (First time making a game with it)
  • Eclipse + Java + LibGdx (Already have an experience with those. LibGdx rocks!)
  • GIMP
  • Audacity
  • inudge.net
  • as3sfxr

And probably something else.

It’s going to be fun!

Need your advice please!

Hi everyone,

another LD coming, and I really don’t want to miss it. For once, I’m actually busy with other things and have limited time (because of birthday and such stupid things). BUT I won’t pussy out just because of that, no matter would it be I use much less time, there will still be a game, for sure!

My consideration is from two options, and I would like your help to choose! Either I go for the jam instead with more time, and might convince some friends to team up. But that kind of feels lame since I would be able to use 3rd party assets which feels kinda lame. The other option would be to spend more effort on design a  really small concept which is still fun to play, and execute it in the compo despite very limited time.

So, fellow masters of LD, what is your advice?

(PS. It might be a bit too rude to cancel my birthday party with gf and family and everything)

Really just depends on weither or not you can come up with some good concept. Also, no one is forcing you to use third party assets and doing it with a couple of friends would probably be a lot more fun :)

Making a game in one day or less works, but your concept must fit your time.

I’d give the compo a try, you can always switch to the jam if the game is definitely not ready enough.

Let it depend on the theme and how much you get brainwaves when the comp starts. if yo don’t feel it, do the jam..

Thanks for all tips! You’re right, I’ll decide when I know the theme depending on what I feel. Some of my friends were interested in jamming so I think that would be fine. And could be great to do it as a team for once!

Greetings fellows!

First time participant in the Ludum Dare. I am really exited and a little bit scared to do everything alone (music included!?! what?!?) in just 48 h. Maybe i will not be able to complete the game but it’s worth a try.

Now let’s talk about which tools i’m going to use:

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Coffee
  • Unity
  • C#
  • Inkscape
  • sfxr

So, good luck to everyone and have fun! I will, and you? 😀

I’m in!

This time, I did my best to avoid any information about the theme. Trying to stay uninfluenced :)

So I’m in for this LD! I’ll be using:

  • haxe + homebrew 2D libs
  • Photoshop (art)
  • BoscaCeoil (music)
  • LabChirp (sfx)
  • Chronolapse
  • Coffee!

dang that looks fuckin sick dude!

My LibGDX codebase – Feel free to use!

So, here’s my codebase I’ll be using for the compo. It’s for LibGDX.

https://github.com/manabreak/ludumdare_codebase

As it says in the readme, it mainly just automates the resource management – place all your textures in a single folder called “images” and it will generate a texture atlas for you. It also loads assets automatically from the “default” folders (assets/graphics, assets/sounds, assets/music and assets/fonts). Additionally, there’s stub classes for the game screen and the game stage, as well an “entity” class which reflects Actor object’s transformation to a sprite, making it a bit easier to use sprites with actors.

Anyhoo, it’s there if someone’s interested in using it. Feel free to do so, it’s MIT-licensed. :)

(Oh, and just you know, there’s some small things still missing, I’ll be adding them shortly!)
