MiniLD first result

Here’s what I get after battling to find a way to do it, I finally got something working :p
There’s still lot of work to achieve! Next news in 4 hours, I hope.
Reminder: “Prepare… to RACE!” see my previous posts for more information.

I’m participating again, again

Well, probably…

This will be my third time (in a row) doing the compo. Hopefully this time I will think of a solid game idea from the start and won’t waste a whole day… and I’m hoping to make a better game this time too. Guess we’ll see how it goes.

Anyway, my tools/tech:

  • Language: Java
  • IDE: Eclipse – I haven’t actually tried any other IDEs before, so it’s not much of a choice
  • Engine: IceEngine – my totally amazing (not really, don’t use it) game engine, which I recently realized should probably be referred to as a library… but hey, nobody cares anyway. It’s using LWJGL for graphics, JBox2D for physics, Beads for audio and jFlac for decoding flac sound files.
  • Art: probably Gimp, but I may try Inkscape if I’ll have time to play around with it before the compo.
  • Audio: last time LabChirp seemed to serve me well (despite the previous LD scoring worse than my first LD, even though I had more sounds in the previous LD) so I will probably use it for sounds again. Maybe I’ll record some sounds to layer with the LabChirp generated ones, but my mic is just an in-built laptop mic, so I’m not sure if that would work out. I’ll also use LMMS for music, which, by the way, recently (not sure how recently) has had the addition of a few new instruments, one of which is “Nescaline” – an NES sound emulator, so if you are looking to create some 8-bit music and have them production skillz, you should give LMMS a whirl (edit: oh, and you should download from their github, I’m pretty sure the latest official release doesn’t have those). Also, I will probably use audacity to clean things up, or something.

Well, make sure to have a good time and good luck!

Trying again

Hello!

Last time I gave up because i get notified about compo about 2 hours before. This time I know about the it few days before so I can prepare myself for it – still thinking about technology which I will use – html5 game or maybe standard desktop game based on technology which I will premade – we will see.

Good luck for everyone – also good luck for me :).
Regards.

I’ll try

Well, this will be my first ludum dare. so here goes nothing!

So, Here’s my tools:

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Engine: Swing or LWJGL

Art: Paint.net

Audio: LWJGL’s Open AL or TinySound

I’m so excited.

I’m in.

Title says it all. I’m in, for the fourth time. Time flies, feels like LD #28 was yesterday. What I’ll probably be using and stuff:

Platform: HTML5/JS
Library/framework: Phaser(.io)
“IDE”: Atom(.io)
Graphics program: Paint.NET + GIMP for cool renders (more comfortable doing pixel art stuff + editing in Paint.NET)

Hopefully I’ll get something done in the coming week before the LD since I’m not really used to Phaser. Or JavaScript, actually.

Oh well.

I’m in!

This will be my 3rd jam and this time I will be trying to make things a bit different.

Language: Java as always

Engine: Unknown 3.0 (https://github.com/CUB3D/Unknown-3) Now using OpenGL through JOGL

IDE: Eclipse

Art (If you can even call it an attempt): Paint.NET

Sound: JFXR (http://jfxr.frozenfractal.com/#)

Hopefully I will be streaming at http://www.twitch.tv/thedwarfthatdigs unlike last time

Broadcaster: OBS

I’m in

I’ll be using unity, gimp/paint.net,bfxr, probably sunvox

I hope I can create something more interesting than my last entry

I’m In!

This is my obligatory “I’m In” post! This will be my second Ludum Dare and I’m really looking forward to it.

Engine: Unity2D

Audio: Audacity

Graphics: Photoshop

Caffeine: Nescafe Dulce Gusto

This is the first time I’ve really used the Unity engine in anger, and a good excuse for me to get really to grips with it!

I’m in again

So, once again, I’ve decided that public humiliation beats inactivity, so I will join this #LD48.

My last game project was last time I participated in LD48.. I’ve mostly forgotten how my engine works, and I’ve not worked on it since then… It’s in a horrible state, but I think it compiles on both Linux and Windows. I might setup an empty skeleton project before LD starts.

I’m going to use my ExcessiveOverkill engine library, together with the editor for it, and I’ll be building it my custom CI-System called “Contigrator”.
Writing everything in C99.

I’m going to use Gimp, Blender and maybe J-WildFire for visuals, and audacity and maybe sfxr for sounds.
I’m going to write code in Eclipse.

Scene editor: https://github.com/DusteDdk/eoEdit

I hope to see more custom/homebrew/from-scratch engines and this time around, those are the ones I enjoy trying out the most. Let’s all have a fun time!

MiniLD#55: Quest for LDJAM

So, in preparation of the upcoming Ludum Dare, I decided to work on a small RPG, and reuse some sprite I made long time ago for a failed gamejam entry :)

So far, I got basic character movements and collisions, and entering / exiting buildings as well as a simple battle mode. Still not sure about adding a story, depending on my progression I will try to give some context to the player.

Gonna Jam This Time

College school work won’t stop me!  I still want to compete in Ludum Dare; I had a fun time last time (which was my first time).  This time, though, I want to take part in the 72 hour Jam as that’ll give me the breathing room I need for my newbishness.

I sooo want to add my own song to this one.  Here’s hoping I budget my time properly!

TOOLS

Code/Graphics: Game Maker Studio

Sound: Audacity

Ideas:  ME!

We’re in.

Our team is in.

We’ll be using Unity in C# and probably gimp, not sure about sound yet.

Handy Photoshop swatches tool!

Getting your toolkit arranged for the LD Jam this weekend? Maybe you want to add this one to the list! Simply turn an image file into a Photoshop swatches file for fast and easy import. Great when combined with those color ramp generators found around the web. No more copy-pasting color values one at a time!

My MiniLD update #2

Procedurally generated track done :) Need opponents and the possibility to custom the car.
See you tomorrow, good night to the sleepers…
