Ludum Dare to Believe S:3!

Hey Everyone!

It’s the Button Masher Bros.! We are gearing up for Ludum Dare to Believe Season 3 and we hope you are too!

We wanted to take a moment to wish you all good luck in the following week! As previous participants in this glorious challenge, we know (and can sympathize =D ) with the trials that await you this weekend!

As we have with the previous two Ludum Dares, we will be doing a showcase of our favorite (and your favorite Ludum Dare submissions!).

Soon, we’ll provide a link where you guys can submit the games you think are the best of the best! And yes, self-promotion is A-OK!

We cannot guarantee that we will get to all the submissions (typically we get several hundred requests, and only ~40 of those make it onto the show)

But don’t let that discourage you! We want to see what you have to offer!

Expect to hear from us again soon! Good Luck and go slaughter some themes!

Don’t know about Ludum Dare to Believe?

Language: Lua

Engine: Love2d

Graphics: Paint.NET

OS: Win8

Text editor: Atom

I’m on a budget, but I’m still sure I can do this. Ludum Dare 31? Come at me bro.

Joining in for the first time!

Hi there!

First time joining Ludum Dare, I never finished a video game project and it’s definitely not my speciality, but maybe the 48 hours compo will be the little push I need!

Language: Javascript

Images: Photoshop

Sounds/Music: Audacity and some instruments, I guess?

Have fun everyone!

If you’ve never finished a game before, you might be getting burned out from having to do all the work yourself in Javascript :] I recommend Clickteam Fusion, Game Maker, or Unity, which will all handle a lot of complex stuff like collision detection, animation, etc., so you don’t get bogged down and can focus on the fun part of game development.

I’m in.

Yep I am again in the Compo. This is my third time taking part in the Compo. This time I will not try to join the Jam, because last time my Compo programming time was just about 5 hours and my graphics artist for Jam did not deliver.

I am not sure yet which language I will be using C++ or Go. That is to be seen.

This time I will be compiling for Windows, because now I have the ability to virtualize Windows on top of my Arch Linux development box and I have set up development environment in virtualized Windows 7.

Even though I am not sure which programming language I will be using I am certain that I will be using Simple Fast Media Library.

I develop on Linux using C++ and SFML. In order to release for Windows, I compile my code on a Windows virtual machine using CMake. I use MinGW though..

To relieve the stress of waiting for the upcoming Ludum Dare, I’ve an early-early Christmas surprise.

Try out Mr. Mizu’s Leaky Faucet, made for the LD prep weekend. It’s a minimalistic water toy thingthang, made simply to configure my tools on my new laptop for the actual event, and maybe slightly to procrastinate exam stuff. Still pretty fun for some two hours’ twiddling.

Warning: catchy music.

You could have made that warning larger, because now it’s been running for over TWO HOURS IN A BACKGROUND TAB!

It’s my first time, and the first time always hurts…

I’m in! For the first time ever..

So excited about the weekend ^^

It’s gonna be great :)

Language will be C# in combination with the newly released Unity 4.6 Engine (With UI System, thanks unity!!!).

For graphics Blender and GIMP.

For sound.. puuuhh, no idea really but I’ll make something happen.

Let’s do this guys, Ludum Dare 31 you can come!

Ludum Dare, Ludum Dare!

Hey!

This will be my first time participating in Ludum Dare and I’m just so excited to start! Theme voting alone made my excitement-o-meter skyrocket!

Engine: GameMaker Studio

Audio: GameMaker sprite editor and Paint.net

Sound: Fl Studio and probably Audacity

I’m In For My First Time!

Well sadly i’m in for my first time…. I know such a disappointment. JK

I will be using :

Coding And Stuff :Unity (UnityScript)

Graphics : Gimp

Models : Blender or Maya dunno yet.

Sounds : Pfft I figure it out soon.

I’m in!

I will be participating in the #31 Ludum Dare, possibly with a team depending on how fast I can find one within the next couple of days.

What I’ll be using.

Good luck, hope to see your creations soon.

I’m in.

I’m in!  I think this is LD #5 for me, shocking as that is.  I will be using:

  • Unity3D and C# for engine
  • http://www.bfxr.net/ for sound
  • Paint.NET for graphics
  • Wings3D for meshes, if I ever have meshes

Got a Question

First time participating in LD! Excited to here about the theme, but I have a question. I’m using C# and XNA for the programming part and I’ll scrap together some graphics, but, I’ve never worked on music. Do I need to have original music, or can I have free-2-use music in my game? If that is not the case, can someone direct me to a good, free music program, and maybe some simple tutorials? Thanks so much for any help!

If you are participating in the 48h Compo, you need to have original music made within the timeframe. In the 72h jam, on the other hand, you can use pre-made music from the internet, though you want to be aware of legal rights when using them and it is requested you opt out of the music judging category. I’d read the rules page on the homepage’s right side bar for more information.

Of course I’m in!

This LD I think I’m going to use Unity and maybe try and fit in my new ability to use Photon (Multiplayer games) into it as well, I’m not dead set on that though. I’m still not familiar with 3d modeling programs so I’d have to keep it simple but still make it look good. That’ll be a challenge using cubes spheres and capsules lol. Other than that, sounds will likely be made from my mouth (typical) and I’ll be flyin solo as always

+ MiniLD 55: Dangerous Game (Update 2) +

Progress! Not pictured: animated background, the first bits of movement, and delicious cake.

Work in progress; hopefully the end product will look nicer.
