LD31 December 5–8, 2014

In again

I wasn’t able to do LDs for a while because of my studying, but I finally decided to do it again! This will be my second compo and I’m planning to do things differently/better this time. For example, I will use Unity instead of using only SFML, so I won’t lose time on boilerplate code anymore. Maybe I will even use the 5.0 beta so I can deploy to WebGL.

Other tools besides Unity:

Visual Studio 2013 for C# coding

bfxr/sfxr for beep beep, audacity for advanced sound editing

Paint.NET, GraphicsGale or Inkscape for graphics, depends on which art style I will choose

Blender if 3D models will be needed

Maybe a level editor like Tiled

Music will be either crappy or procedurally generated (or both)

In once again

I’m ready for my ninth competition in a row, and looking forward to playing everyone else’s entries.
I'm in for LD31

  • Code: Flixel (AS3)
  • IDE: Flash Builder
  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Music: Famitracker
  • SFX: BFXR

In, for the 8th time!

Getting ready for my 8th Ludum Dare. I’ve got a full weekend this time, with no interruptions (hopefully!) so I’ll see how things go!

As usual, I’ll just be using Construct 2, along with GraphicsGale for the art and SFXR for any sound effects I get around to using.

Best of luck to everyone else participating, can’t wait to see what the theme is!

I’ll give it another shot

My entry for #28 didn’t get submitted last year. Oh well, right?

Here’s take two. This time around, I’ll be using:

Language: Rust
Platform: Windows + eventual ports to OS X and Ubuntu
Libraries: SDL2 via the Rust SDL2 bindings, cgmath, my own OpenGL helper libraries
Graphics: OpenGL, likely 2.5D style. Photoshop/GIMP for raster, Flash for vector
Audio: Synthesized in-game, or bfxr/sfxr if it doesn’t work out
Editor: Atom

Rust is a formidable programming language. I’ve been extremely productive with it so far, so I hope that will be an advantage here. During development, I’ll stick with the same version of Rust nightly.

Yay!

EDIT (2014/12/03):
Graphics: Pyxel Edit and Tiled

Is it obligatory to make an “I’m in” post?

life

After missing LD29 and LD30, I’m back for LD31.  Even if I don’t have to post to partake, I’m doing so anyway!  I’m joining the jam, not the compo, because I’m not very good at following rules.  I’ve been browsing other people’s posts for ideas on tools, and for wallpapers, so here is my list of tools:

Sound:
– Bosca Ceoil
– BFXR
– Audacity

Graphics:
– Sculptris
– Blender
– Tilen
– Gimp
– Paint 2
– Scratch (I have used this for graphics before…  Paint.NET doesn’t work on my mac.)

Engine: Unity3d NotPro 4.6
Language: C#

Source Control: Git
Screen Timelapse Capture: Looking for recommendations!  Otherwise will write little script to so.

Also I have been looking at various websites for audio and graphics assets, including

No guarantees that I use any of what I wrote down here, because as I said, I’m not very good at following rules.

And one more thing to say!  Don’t forget to vote kittens!

actually the kittens theme is our new version of a captcha, anyone voting for adorable baby cats is obviously a bot and is taken out back and slapped with a turing test

I’m assuming you +1’d the “Break The Rules” theme in round 2, huh? 😀

I’m in!

This is my first ludum dare and I’m pumped! I’m looking to promote my newly established indie game development company with this competition but also to have fun and see what I can come up with in 48 hours. I am very new to video game development but I’m looking to see what I can do. I’ll be using Unity and Blender. If you’re interested in my company go to www.ethicalgames.net for more. Anyways, lets have some fun! 😀

Wow, 47 tickets! Tempting. Were it not for the fact that I have a commitment on Saturday I probably would have dropped by.

Number three

So after attending my first and second LD this year, I’ll of course join for the third. We’ve even set up a small location here in Karlsruhe.

LD30, Karlsruhe

I’m in

I hope :)

#31 Okay, I’m in!

Missed a couple of Ludum Dares and failed to finish the last one, although I had a LOT of fun making something rather pretty during Number 29 –>

http://ludumdare.com/compo/2014/04/27/oh-well-dnf-this-time-around/

Sooo, I’ll be entering this one with the following set-up.

Music & SFX

Bosca Ceol
SFXR
Audacity

GFX & 3D Modelling

Flash
Photoshop
Milkshape 3D

Engine:

Unity3D

Probably Chronolapse for Timeplase Captures, slow internet = no streaming.

Also, Yay Kittens!

I’ve been practising making tiny games in an hour recently to warm up and re-looked through the whole rigging and animation stuff over the weekend.

http://www.gravityforce3.com/penguins/

So, hopefully, I should be in good stead for the coming weekend!

I’m in for the second time !

Well, for my second ludumDare I expect to create a more finished Game !

I still want to use my personal 2D motor which use SFML (Here it is : https://github.com/Bobombe/Moteur2D).

Coding with C++ and Code::Blocks

“Art” with Gimp, and i don’t know what for music ^^

I’m in!

I’m in again and ready for LD#31. Last year i wasn’t fast enough for publishing my Game, but this year i will be fast enough. I will use Monogame or Unity 3D. My Tools are:

Visual Studio 2013 Professional

Unity 3D

Audacity

Paint.Net

Inkscape

Photoshop

This is my second LD, so i try to be better this time

Good luck on your second LD! One piece of advice for getting something done on time – which I always fail to remember myself: do the simplest thing that could possibly work.

Second-timer here

Currently, I’m sorting out the things to be done for another game-making challenge, which is the One Year Game Challenge organized by IGDA Manila.

But that won’t stop me from participating in LD for the second time, ya?

Looking at the themes to be voted on, I’d say… around 75% of them are very appropriate for visual novels. Depending on what the final theme will be, I’ll stick to a serious, melodramatic story like last time — or I can diversify my future portfolio and create something zany.

Whatever works will work.

GOOD NEWS!

… for my team!

We did find an artist, so this time our entry will look cool. YES !!!! 😀

Also i did finish (kind of) the framework i talked about in the i’m in post. (Code is availiable at the link below…)

I quickly made a game to test it http://ludumdare.com/compo/minild-55/?action=preview&uid=33937

I’m in for the 2nd time!

Just as nervous/excited as I was for the first one…lol.  I’m pretty much going to use the same tools I did last time.

coding: vim/tmux and Phaser.js for my framework
graphics:  SpriteSomething and Pixen
sfx:  sfxr/bfxr
music: PixiTracker

I learned a lot the first time around, although I wished I had done a timelapse or live stream, so I might do that this time around.

Good luck all :)

Happy hunting! Timelapses are awesome, I wish everybody did them.
