LD31 December 5–8, 2014

We’re in (Woo jam duo)

My wife wants to do a jam and school has worn us both down, so time to do something fun.

Graphics: Aseprite probably

Language: Java with LibGDX or c# with monogame. Something simple, depends on the pipeline

Music: Maybe my band will play something? www.dionysusparkranger.com

If any server side mechanics I wanna play with this new websockets library in elixir/erlang. but probably too hard for a jam :p

We have some ideas but it completely depends on the theme. We will be putting up a challenge white board and maybe we can stream our design sessions this time.

Good Luck everyone! (Also good luck on finals to all the hard working students out there).

@mpahrens

In I am

Hi! I’m going to joing my first LD. Also I am going to try and make something for the miniLD.

I will be using Unity, audacity, photoshop, 3dsMax,etc…

Good luck and have fun!

Some of us are in

Last year, this time, we got together a couple of friends and made a game.

The main character.

Protagonist last year

It was said to be disturbing and other adjectives that we appreciated. We hope to repeat those feelings in the unfortunate players who have the bad luck of playing what we make. Since it isn’t even clear who “we” will be this time, it’s even less clear what tools we will be using, but if I am to guess we will use cameras, microphones, toys, scissors, pens, pencils and various software (GIMP, Audacity, Inkscape, Paint.net and others). Probably it will be Unity that assembles it all into a game, but that is of course also not decided until we start.

Whatever the theme is, I wow to manipulate my co-conspirators into creating something that will have people saying This game is completly mindfuck and scary again.

And even more urgent than last year, it will of course be #NoSexism.
Depending on what you consider violence, it will probably be #NoViolence too.

My own personal programming goals are to succeed in:

  • having easily understood controls
  • having smooth controls
  • having a reasonable difficulty progression

Let’s forget life and have a fantastic ludum weekend!

Going to be using Unity and Paint.net

Surely the theme voting will have started by now?…

With 6 days until compo, when does the theme voting begin?

Hm, thought I remembered it starting earlier last year… Thanks.

We prepared the final theme list last night (Friday). The voting should begin today, whenever PoV wakes up and presses the buttons. I dare not press them myself.

I’m In! – Who else is in this year?

I missed ludum dare 30 but I am back for this one (31)

I will be using unity, paint.net

Sounds will be from www.freesound.org

Who else is in this year?

Just remember that – if you enter the 48h contest and not the Jam – you can’t use that sounds (unless you resample them significantly). Check the rules page for more information.

Im in

Im in a in

This is the second ludum dare for me, the first being ld29 where I made the game Surf Ace with some friends.

http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-29/?action=preview&uid=15148

It got a LOT of positive feedback and it made me really excited for this ludum dare 😀

I will use game maker 8.1 for the programming, its realy effective when IT comes to fast prototyping and I feel at home with the interface.

For music I will use all the instrument in the apartment and GarageBand.

For soundeffects I will use my ability to shout in to a microphone.

I wish you all a superawesone ludumdare :)

96h Jam with rules soon

Jam on 96h Jam with rules, make game in 4 days (96h), prepare for LD 31 and have fun!

I dare you,

I double dare you,

I Ludum Dare you!

Tools:

Programming: Game Maker Studio: Ptofessional

Art: Inkscape

Music: May cgmusic…

Sfx: Sfrx

I’m in

First time.

Language: Haxe

Engine: HaxeFlixel

Art: aesprite/gimp

I’m hoping my lack of artistic ability will result in something charming rather than painful.  Goals include impressing my friends and making pretty code.

Obligatory Notification of In-ness

This year marks the first year I’ll be competing. I’ve kept tabs on the event the last couple of years, and I’ve participated in other, smaller jams a few times, so I have a decent picture of what will be demanded of me.

It’ll be the jam for me this year, with a team of two (an audio engineer and me on code/grafix)

Tools

Engine =  Unity

Language: = C#

Text Editor = Sublime Text 2

Graphics = GIMP

Sound =  My buddy

I’m pretty psyched to start designing. Only started learning Unity two weeks ago, but can’t beat the ease of distribution that it offers.

Goodlucky’all,

Mr. Grieves

Let’s do this again

Third time, third solo compo entry. Will probably use HaXe and HaxeFlixel again. But will probably depend on the theme this time – libgdx and HTML5 export seems pretty capable nowadays.

Haven’t really resonated with any of the themes I’ve come upon in the theme slaughter, but that might change. A three week relentless cold has made me a grumpy d00d indeed. Maybe I’ll make a game about the horrors of living in the north, fighting ice, polar bears and colds … er… mostly colds.

Hope I’m fresh in the head for a 48h session of extended Fredagsmys(R) with #LD31!

IM IN

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I LUDUM DARED?: NEVER BEFORE

ENGINE: UNITY PROBABLY

LANGUAGE: C# PROBABLY

WILL I WIN: PROBABLY

I have no idea what’s gonna happen. But I’m gonna try at something new and original.

We’ll see.

First Time! -FTJ (for the jam)

So  I’m not doing the regular dare, but the jam, with another person. We each heave main different parts to take on but its all toward the jam.

October challenge failed. Werewolf Tycoon released anyway!

Who knows . . . perhaps it was too ambitious to try to create a Halloween game two weeks before Halloween? Come October 31st, we had a rough but “finished” game, but boy did we underestimate how much effort it would take to actually get it on stores.

screen8 screen5

Rather than rushing out a broken, unbalanced game, we decided to give it a little more thought and care.  Since officially failing the October challenge, we fixed a tonne of bugs, improved the balance, added a bunch of crazy easter eggs, leaderboards, and prepared it for submission to google play, the apple app store, the amazon app store, and a flash web build. (Got to love haxe!)

And at last, one month late, Werewolf Tycoon is available for free on Google Play! (http://joecreates.co.uk/werewolftycoon) Submissions for the Amazon and Apple app stores are pending review, but all the actual work is done.

It feels great to complete something, and Ludum Dare really helps provide the extra motivation to do that. However, if like us you fail to meet a deadline, do not give up! After all, deadlines are more what you’d call “guidelines” than actual rules. Or is that the pirates code? I forget.

Oh, and of course . . . I’m in!
