LD31 December 5–8, 2014

I’m in!

Hi everyone! The first time I participate in Lundum Dare. I hope that this will be the most memorable event! I will work alone. As a programmer, writer and artist.
I am from Russia. It has long dreamed to participate in tournaments. But always found them later.
I look forward to the upcoming event!

Guys, share impressions about the upcoming event, tell me about your past participation!

The game will be developed with the technology of HTML5.
Graphics: Photoshop + Corel Draw + a little bit of new technology of bone animation in HTML5 :)

HelkeGames is back again!

HelkeGames is back again after the awesome Ludum Dare 26 (I know, i couldn’t join the last Ludum Dares because I’ve been so busy… I couldn’t update my profile description as well so…. I’m still 16? ahahah). In fact I posted “I’m in” so late because I still didn’t know if I would have had enough time on this weekend… But fortunately I got free time so… I’m ready for a sleepless weekend!

During this year and a half(?) I’ve been improving my coding skills and… I think I’m ready to do much better than my first LD! As the last Ludum Dare I will be lonely and… only my teammate will provide for making the soundtrack of the whole game.
I got a lot of ideas even if, well, I could bet snowman theme will win?! Ahahah

I will try to do my best in every category and to finish the game within 72 hours since i will join Jam.

Many things happened since my last LD (love and passions ? ahahah) and i think more people now join the competition so… it will be more awesome and interesting!
LUDUM DARE I’M HERE FOR YOU!

As everyone is usual to do, I’m going to post my tools:

  • Java (Eclipse IDE) or well maybe GML
  • Graphics Gale (Art)
  • Fl Studio producer edition 2011
  • And a lot of tea and coffee (I prefer tea ahahah)

I hope to make a game that everyone will love… Because well… that’s my (and I think also of everyone who is a game developer) aim!

Good Luck to everyone! Let’s have some fun! 파이팅 !

Hi everythere! I’m in.

I’ll use FlashDevelop and any free pixel editor. (ex. Gimp)

Let’s see what is waiting for us. 😉

I’m in! Never too late!

Good things come in three (“Jamais deux sans trois” as we say in France) : I’m in for my third LD!

Using as usual Love2D to code with, Gimp for the graphical part and some random tools for the sound.

My main goal is to make a game without pixel art and maybe proper sounds with Audacity, but that will depends on the theme.

I can’t wait to see what will be produced during this LD, by you and me!

First Time

I’m considering participating. I am 18 years old from Australia and have only released one full game so far. We’ll see what happens!

The Eggz Team is in !

Hello fella,

This LD will be our first one, so we’ll stick to something very simple. We’ll be a team of 3 and we’ll be using Unity 2D for our game. For graphics and animation, we’ll use either Photoshop or Flash, but we will maybe opt for Pixel Art assets (http://www.piskelapp.com/ or http://pyxeledit.com/get.php) as a possible visual style. We might use 3rd party materials, but some assets would be also created from scratch.

Can’t wait to see what the theme will be about !

Good luck to all other contestants, we’re thrilled to try your games !

I’m In – 3rd Time, Now With More Base Code

I’m in for my 3rd LD compo.

I will be using:

– Unity and the free iTween script from the asset store

– GraphicsGale, though just in case I will declare Inkscape on the roster.

– sfxsr/bfxr for sound effects

– I may use Otomata for music

– I may use SPArtAn for tile generation

– I WILL BE USING MY OWN BASE CODE, which I have expanded this time

– Available to anyone here:  http://ricefrog.com/UnityStarter/UnityLDStarterKit.zip

– It’s a Unity 2D skeleton of a game that includes many basic features such as:

* Some basic screen nav

*A GameController with state machine for playing, winning, losing, etc

*Empty “level generator” that generates nothing but is a placeholder to get rolling

*Controllable player that can walk and aim

*An example monster with no AI

*A projectile system

*Health and damage system with a rudimentary HUD

*Basic collisions between the elements above

*Some really simple “juice”

Idea here is there’s no actual meaningful game pre-built, but I do have a lot of the parts that I find myself building over and over again so that I can get to the interesting parts as early into the 48 hours as I can!

Good luck, everyone.

I’m ☃

As usual, here is my starting point code: https://github.com/RedRingRico/LD31

I have been considering folding a lot of the work that I’ve been doing back into my main game engine, though it’s unclear how much is useful and how much will be thrown away.  Anyway, I’m not using much other than C++, SDL2, OpenGL, RapidJSON, hashlib2plus and any other APIs that I may find useful.

Here’s what I have as a starting point:

LD31_Starting

Linux and Windows are the target platforms.

Tools

gVim

GCC

Blender

GIMP

LMMS

Audacity

First Ludum Dare

This will be my first Ludum Dare and I’m a little bit excited. 😀

I will use: Game Maker

Graphics: Photoshop CS6, Paint.NET

Audio: SFXR

Music: Reason or my guitar

Base Code

Hello,

In the interest of fairness, here is the base code I will be using in my compo project:

https://github.com/Tom-Todd/LudumBaseCode

First Ludum Dare!

First Ludum Dare, very excited!

Tools

Phaser.io + Meteor.js

SublimeText

Pixelmator

Garageband

And I think that’s about it!

Hopefully in!

Hello again,

I’ve had to crash out of the last two LDs due to Dad Duty, but once again, I’ll have a go at doing something.

I’ll probably have to go super-simple this time due to time constraints.

Likely Tools:

  • Phaser
  • GIMP
  • bfxr / Audacity

Good luck!

I’m in again

Eighth attempt, hoping for my sixth completed game. Usual tools: Lua/Love2D, GIMP, *fxr.

Since getting a job outside of the gaming industry, I’ve really come to appreciate these events more. I don’t feel the drive to do everyday games programming, because I’d just spent my full day programming other things. But having these events that I can jump into and finish up within a weekend I feel is a great way to scratch that games development itch.

This time, I’m out…

This weekend has been sneaking up on me for a while and I’ve been unsure whether or not I’d be participating.  The weekend, as I suspected, filled up pretty fast and I decided today I won’t be participating this time.

Even so, best of luck to everyone and I look forward to playing some awesome games next week!

I’m in.

Well, here we are again. The fun, exhilaration, pain, suffering and satisfaction that is Ludum Dare.

Feels kind of like this!

Basic run-down of tools:

  • Unity/C#
  • 2D but may venture into 3D for the first time. Will see.
  • Pixen for art (perhaps Qubicle)
  • cfxr or jfxr (sound effects). Audacity for cleanup if needed.
  • Music? I never seem to have time, or skill for music.
  • Sublime Text 3 for code editing
  • OBS for Mac for Streaming (follow me in advance?)

I really don’t have an idea what genre or style of game I want to make this time, so I will think about that. For some reason I’ve been thinking about a click-n-point style adventure game. Any suggestions?

I really want to do better roughing out the core game the first night, so most of Saturday is just content creation and implementation. Sunday can be for polish.

Good luck all.

Good luck, George! Glad to see you’ll be streaming again this time.
