LD31 December 5–8, 2014

I will participate!

But only if the theme is ☃

Once again, I’ll learn of making a far-from-perfect game in a stressfull period where you finish your game much more easialy!

Tools:

  • MSPaint(I’m not kidding) + RealWorld Paint + maybe-ish Inkscape(still learning)
  • VS 2010
  • The good old dead XNA Framework/MonoGame + C#
  • SFXR, JFXR, BFXR,
  • Chronolapse

I’m back again! :D

I’m looking forward to stretching my design muscles and taking some time away from Poncho….

I’ll be building the game in unity and other than that it’ll be all me.

PEACE.

Whos wanting some LD #31!

I cant wairt til LD #31! With little over a day left till LD i am sooo excited! But sadly i will be entering the Jam instead of the LD as we are going to do the very first Brick Built Ludum Dare Team! Also comment if you are also excited! =D

Good luck, mate!

I guess I’m in

It’s been some months without coding, I hope I’m still in shape.. Also, I bought a midi keyboard so I will try to come up with some decent original music!

Code/libraries: Html/js game. Phaser, Pixi or Amazing CanvasQuery from amazing rezoner, depending on what I do.

Graphics: photoshop + Grafx2

Music/sounds: bitwig + audacity

good luck everyone! And have some sleep, for Christ’s sake!

Phaser really seems to be coming on, looking forward to seeing what people can do with it this time!

I will use it only if i need tilemaps, or make a platform game.. If not, I would go for pixi or, if I need custom/special drawing, canvasquery

Ludum Dare 31: I’m in!

Yes. Just like everyone else, I am making this kind of post.

I am in and very excited to attend the compo again! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make a 48h stand just like I did for LD#26. First of all, I have some social stuff to attend to this weekend. Yes. Social stuff. With friends and people like that. I’m a nerd and I have to go social this week end! I’ll be damned but this is so unsual that I can’t afford to cancel everything for Ludum Dare! 😀

Then, I remember that last time, I went full time the whole weekend and slept for something like 3 hours. In the end, my work on Sunday was completely useless. I was too bushed to concentrate easily. This time, I will try to get something solid in one shot. If in a few hours I don’t get a high-quality prototype, then I will just consider the deed undone.

The compo #26 taught me some crucial stuff: I won’t spend hours going crazy because my prototype needs more design or redesign in its code, just like I did for the #26 compo. This is useless and the opposite of being a good game designer. I think a good piece of art is something that is recognizable in a single stroke. Always start small then always go forward.

My strategy for achieving this? Going mainstream. I mean… going Unity! Yes, I’ve always loathed the fact that, with engines like Unity, you don’t have any control on low level features like open gl or direct x functions, memory management and, last but not least, optimization. But the #26 compo made me realize : “Hey! To get a fun game, you need a solid prototype.” and to get a solid prototype, I know that you need a clear, simple and innovative game design. You need to throw your idea into a prototype in the quickest way.

I realized this is what Ludum Dare is about: clear, simple and innovative game design. So yeah, I’ll be using Unity just like everyone else and I hope I will do better than last time.

I’m In!

Since I think our last post wasn’t actually posted on the site, I’ll post it again.

GL;HF!

When in doubt, dare the ludum

These last minute “I’m in” posts are starting to clog up the site, so let’s keep this brief.

I’m in. Big surprise, I know.

Oh, whats that? You were expecting a list of tools and other related stuff that I will be using? Well, since you’re asking so nicely I guess I can include some of my SUPER SECRET toolkit, behold!

– Raw Java in Eclipse IDE

– FL Studio for the sweet wubs

– Audacity and yours truly for sound fx

– Photoshop and/or paint.net for graphics

– Lots of coffee

Ok, are you happy now?

Good, I will now proceed to sleep

We are in !

Anything except “snowman”

Hello jello people!

This is my second Ludum. Hopefully I’ll finish my game this time.

I shall use:

DEV: Unity 4.6 Free + Visual Studio 2013

ART: paint.NET

MUSIC: FL Studio, BFXR, Autotracker

FOOD: i’ll let the fridge decide

DRINKS: water… just kidding. Chilled Coke

“Snowman” is a horrible theme :)

Good luck & have fun!

I’m in.

Just kidding, of course I’m not going to finish a game.

Have fun playing “Sprite moving around a surface” 3.0!

I also announce explicitly that I shall forfeit if the snowman is chosen.

Or perhaps I’ll draw a snowman and call it a game. Apparently it’s a good enough substitute for the name of a theme.

I’m in… >.>

I have to work this weekend BUT i’m going to try and submit SOMETHING. I’ll be using Java, ASEPRITE and SFXR and a usb mic + random house stuff + Audacity.  Due to work commitments i’ll likely have MAXIMUM 20 hours to complete a game so I’ll be putting all mine time into function over form.  There will be sound, gameplay but graphics and effects may lack polish.  Even so, its going to be a BLAST 😀 Good luck everyone!

I’m in

Hi, I will try my luck too, first time here !

I will probably be using Maratis among other tools.

Anaël.

I’m in

My first Ludum Dare!

The only thing that is bothering me is that i live in swedenand that i will have to get up 02.00 if i don’t want to be late to start… :C

Tools that i  have access to:

– GameMaker Studio

– Blender 3d

– Adobe Suite CC (from my shool PC :) )

First Ludum dare!

I have always loved making games and I am so happy that I will be able to compete this year in Ludum Dare! :) I finally finished my new computer which is much more powerful than my previous laptop and Vista Desktop (although I am still looking to upgrade my new and current computer.)

Language: C# mainly but will use some Javascript

Engine: Unity 3D

Image Editor: Gimp

Modeling Program: Blender 2.69

I am REALLY looking forward to this year’s Ludum Dare and I can’t wait to see what the Theme is! :)

I’m in!

So I’m in for my first time ever. I’m really excited about that and want to create something playable, but nothing to big 😀

I’m going to use Haxe and HaxeFlixel,

Inkscape (or GIMP) or art,

and Sfxr for sound.

Good luck for everyone! :)
