LD33 August 21–24, 2015

One more weekend one more Ludum Dare! (I’m in!)

Why not enter again! This will be my 4th Ludum dare! I have not done so well in previous times but hopefully I can overcome my odds and do well!

Tools!

Coding language: Java
Game library: Libgdx
Physics(if needed): box2d port of libgdx
Lighting: box2d lights (if I use a physics engine)
Art program: paint.net

I’m in!

I’m in for my second Ludum Dare.

Tools:

Programming: Java or Unity (C#) depending on if I want 2d or 3d

Art: Paint.NET (2d) and/or Blender (3d)

Sound: Audacity/Anvil Studio (if anything)

AND ONE MORE REMINDER:

I encourage anyone who has not yet found a Jam partner to check /r/gameteam on reddit. There are still some people there who have not yet found a team.

First Ludum Dare, A start of something new! We’re in!!

First Ludum Dare programming with my Girlfriend and maybe having my brother as a tester or idea mill if needed. looking to be using python, pickle, and Bosca Ceoil. We have two Macbook pros and a Asus gaming laptop between us to program on and test on. Looking to start my Girlfriend’s dream of making a game development company through Ludum Dare. This would be the first time we would complete a game (hopefully) we have sidelined two projects before one was a basic tycoon that was missing an economy aspect and the other was barley started when we decided to scrap it to make time for Ludum Dare. Good luck to all!

Good luck to you :-) We are really interested in what you have done so far. Maybe you can show us your 2 games? Twitter: @atomicvikings

I’m in!

It’s been a while since my last LD, because of exams and stuff. But I’m ready to get back into it again!

I’m In!

Unsure if jam or compo, but I will be making games.

Gonna use a custom HTML5 game engine, Quintus, or Love2D.

Ya. Games.

Denn die Sieben ist meine Zahl (I’m in #7)

It’s time for another weekend of pleasure, fun and unhealthy food. My awesome wife will take care of all the tasks that normally eat up my weekends so I can spend the whole weekend on creating something. This something hopefully becomes more like my older entries and less like my more recent ones.

I’m switching back from Haxe/OpenFL to CoffeeScript/HTML5 since I had problems the last attempts deploying to the web. Since I don’t want to write all the scaffholding in the worthy 48h time window, I’m going to prepare a boilerplate using pixi.js, howler.js with Grunt this time. It will contain no code aside from a completly empty coffeescript file and a basic HTML file that embeds the two libraries. That way I can start coding the game and creating the art without needing to worry about minification, deployment and all the other fun stuff.

Toolbox
OS: Arch Linux
Editor: Sublime Text 2/3
Language: CoffeeScript
Libraries: pixi.js, howler.js
Graphics: Gimp, Inkscape
Sound editing: bxfr, LMMS, MilkyTracker, Caustic (any of these hopefully)
Planing: Pen and paper

+1 for Subway to Sally Quote 😀

I’m in!

So I guess I’ll join too!

GameMaker Studio because I am cheap and lazy. Also because I could not hope to finish anything otherwise.

Paint.NET for (bad) art and sound is out of scope right now, though I hope to be able to phone in some music on instruments I’ve never played before.

Hey, check out Bosca Ceoil and SFXR for some sound effects generations and music composition, might help you out.

LD33 Wallpaper Countdown theme

0

This is my wallpaper for this LD. Based on this entry: (made for the 48h compo)

http://ludumdare.com/compo/2015/08/05/471505/

It’s 50 wallpapers actually. You set them as your theme one hour before the compo and set it to change each hour to the next. (I also uploaded a ready-to-use windows version) It shows you how much time is left and also some general tips for beginners. (Well, it’s my tips so you might not agree with them but… look at it just as suggested ideas).

USAGE WARNING

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IN ANY CASE OF BUG OR PROBLEM BECAUSE OF YOUR OS OR SLEEP MODE. USE AT YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY AND BE SURE TO CHECK THE CLOCK FROM TIME TO TIME AS WELL, JUST IN CASE.

I worked on this one for a bunch of hours cause I watned to make some cool typing effects so I made everything manually using MS Paint; In the end I had only a minor text effect which you won’t notice anyway (text turns to white) cause I was too lazy changing all the colors once again.

So… here’s the wallpapers seperately (so linux users can set ’em too or if you don’t trust .themepack files):

>Click me!<

And here’s the themepack I made using windows 7:

>Click Me!<

Enjoy :)

One hour prep-time?! 4 days prep time!!

I’m in!

I’m in, and I feel like making an Oculus Rift VR game. So vote for a theme I can work with!!

I’ll be coding in C# with Unity 5. Making art with Photoshop Elements 11, and maybe a little bit of Poser 9.

Yup, I’m in!

August sneaks up on you, the summer is over and others are going back to school. What does that mean for me, well it’s a second chase to hone my problem solving skills as I become, if just for a weekend, an entire video game dev shop.

Screen Shot 2015-08-17 at 4.27.22 PM

Last April I took fingers to keyboard and came out with an ok start to a game.

I learned from my mistakes, I’ve updated my libraries, I put a lock on my office door so no one could get in expect me….

We’re ready! I think…

First Ludum Dare, let’s go!

Let’s make some fun stuff, because why not? I’ll probably be streaming most/all of it on twitch, not sure if it’ll have a webcam. I guess you can come watch me procrastinate maybe?

Software:

  • Unity3D 5.1.2f1 (Personal / Education)
  • Visual Studio (2013 / 2015)
  • Blender 2.75a
  • Maya 2015 Student
  • Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator CS6 (or whatever version)
  • sfxr / bfxr
  • Bitbucket / Perforce (will likely be Bitbucket)

Yes we are!

Sorta…

Maybe.

In!

Ludum Dare noobie here. Looking very forward to it! I shall be programming in HaxeFlixel and drawing in Photoshop :)

How do you prepare?

Other than the Warm-up Weekend how do you like to prepare for LD? Are there any special processes or rituals you like to perform?

For example I like to make sure I have a load of folder shortcuts ready so that I can get to my work quickly during the weekend as well as planning my folder structure. I also like to refresh my memory on a few things I don’t do often such as setting up animations in Unity.

I’m interested to see what other people do before the weekend?

I was actually thinking about writing a blog post about this topic. Here are some of the things I do to get ready.

Ok, Sydan, you inspired me. I wrote a blog post about this.

I’m In

Participating in my first game jam ever.  I should be able to participate most of the time, though I will be working a bit.  Here’s what I’m using to make the game.

OS – Mac OSX
Engine – Phaser
Editor – Atom
Art – Piskel
SFX – bfxr
Music – All of my bookmarks of royalty free music
Source – Github
Hosting – Trying to find somewhere to host it online for free.  Please comment if you have a suggestion.

Best of luck to all this year!  I’m really excited to see what happens!

Thanks guys! I’ll look into gamejolt because I’m interested in having it posted online. Otherwise, I can just use some sort of cloud storage and have people download it.

gamejolt.com, itch.io

and ofcourse facebook…

I’m in

I’m in as well! Both my first game jam and first ludum dare, so pretty excited!

I’ll be using either Unity(with C#) or SFML(with C++) depending on which will suit my ideas better, and Photoshop, Illustrator and Paint.NET for the art

LETS GET THIS DONE!

This is my first Ludum Dare and actually my first game jam!

I’ll be working alone (probably) using:

  • Unity 5.1
  • C#
  • Visual Studio
  • Photoshop/Sketchbook
  • Models from the internet
  • Sound from my friend
  • ProBuilder plugin for Unity https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/3558 (It is amazing)

Any ideas on where I could host this for free when I’m done?

Probably the simplest option would be Dropbox. If you don’t have an account you can set one up for free. Then just put the files from your unity build into your Dropbox folder and get the public sharing link from Dropbox. (I think on Windows you just right click on the file to get the link.)

If you don’t want to use Dropbox, drive Google Drive! :)

I used to use google drive but now I use itch.io because it’s more optimized for game hosting. It provides a place for a description, multiple files, screenshots, ect…

Suddenly in

My weekend unexpectedly freed up so Ludum Dare time!

  • Haxepunk or Unity
  • Code: vim
  • “Art”: Gimp
  • Hosting: itch.io

I’m in!

Like every Ludum Dare i am incredibly pumped to get going. Going through every possible theme in the voting list to try and get some good ideas for games.

I’ll be working in Unity as it does a pretty good job at allowing  me to create any crazy idea i can come up with. Along side that software like Blender, as i am too poor to buy something like Maya or 3ds Max. For sound i use Ableton live as it’s what i’m familiar with and finally for texturing Photoshop.

Good luck to everyone

I’m In again

2nd Compo Entry

Using:

Unity 2d

Paint.net

Audacity

C#

Good luck everyone!

I’m In for LD #33

I submitted my first entry for Ludum Dare in April, and even though I didn’t have much time to work on my game, I had a lot of fun, and learned a lot while doing it.

Since then, I have had some time to practice making games, and learning more Java. Hopefully I will be able to make a better game for LD #33.

I will be using the same tools as last time:

– Java (w/ Swing API) + Eclipse

– Paint.NET (Graphics), *maybe* Inkscape

– Bfxr, Audacity

Good luck and have fun everyone!!!
