LD33 August 21–24, 2015

10th Anniversary

I’m in once again for my 10th consecutive Ludum Dare! I didn’t miss a LD since LD24 and am as excited as always to make a game!

I will once again use my favorite Entity Component System Framework Artemis-ODB with libgdx, Eclipse IDE and universal tween engine as well as my base code which you can find here

myLdGames

I’m (probably) in

This is my first LD. Still deciding on whether to use LibGDX or UE4. I could use some help deciding.

I’m an experienced Java programmer, but I’m new to game programming. I’ve played a little bit with libgdx and it seems good for 2d stuff. I’m not familiar with most of the libgdx API and I’m afraid that I’d need to spend a lot of time implementing some basic mechanisms or learning how to integrate with the framework.

I’ve probably spent the same time with UE4 as with libgdx and even as someone who is used to working with code I find it more productive. I like the “WYSIWYG” editor and the short build-test loop. The framework offers a lot of mechanisms out of the box and the Blueprint system isn’t bad at all. I’m not sure how it would deal with more complex logic. Also I’m not sure to what level I can reuse the framework (skybox? character movement? materials? physics?)

My goal is really just managing to build something that I can submit in 48 hours.

I decided I’ll go for UE4 this time. I know this is not the “hardcore” choice, but my goal is to ship something.

I’m in! (I think)

Regardless of what the theme is I’m going to attempt to build a Rougelike as that’s something I’ve been interested in doing for a while.

Going to be using Mono (Something I’ve never used before!) for the engine, most likely a combination of Paint and Aseprite for the Art and I’ll probably bang some music together in Abelton Live.

Good luck all!

Psyched for our first LD

We’re a small team joining the Jam consisting of an illustrator, 3d-artist/musician and a dev/ux designer.

Seeing some great abstract themes!

We’re in!

Hello world!
The Young Chaps are a team of 2, a programmer (Tom, the guy writing this), and an artist (Sam). Myself and Sam are studying programming for games at university, I’m about to enter first year, he’s going onto his second year. Logically speaking, Sam is more experienced so he should be the programmer, but screw logic! That’s what programming is all about… right? 😉

Sam has entered Ludum Dare before with a different guy under the username ‘CurlyFries’. They made a pretty cool game for their first time, you can check that out here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=46214

This is my first Ludum Dare jam, so as practice we started developing a small game today that we’re striving to finish before the jam starts. The game we make for LD is going to be my second finished game, the first will be the game we’re making right now :)

Here are the tools we’ll be using for the jam.
Programming: PyGame
Art: Paint.NET
Music: Bosca Ceoil
Sound Effects: bfxr

I’m in! (I think) – Part 2

So… it’s time for another Ludum Dare!

This will be the second time I will try to make a game in just 48-hours!

Hopefully I can actually finish the game this time 😀

I’m in

This will be my 5th LD. I only get the chance to do one every year lately.

Goals:

  • KISS
  • web deployment
  • have sound (my worst enemy)
  • get to do some actual level design
  • get to do some art

Setup:

  • Language: Java
  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Engine: LibGDX
  • Map Editor: Tiled
  • Graphics: Paint.NET
  • Sound: sfxr/bfxr

I’ll probably be streaming here: http://www.twitch.tv/kr_eddie

Parenthesis

If confused, see post two below mine

I’m in!

Jumping on the bandwagon with the I’m In’s! This is the first Ludum Dare for myself and a friend, we can’t wait!

COME AT ME THEME! >:-D

break;

Ew, an opening bracket under the switch statement instead of next to it DX

I’m in

Gonna be my second Ludum Dare. Hopefully i’ll be a bit more organised this time. Ill be using Unity 5, bfxr and inkscape as my tools. Good luck to everyone!

I’m in for my 2nd time!

This is my second time on Ludum Dare!

I am going to use:

Unity,

Photoshop and Aseprite,

BFXR and Audacity.

Good Luck to everybody, see you in three days!

I’m in

This is my first ludum dare!

Everyone seems to be creating a bunch of “I’m in” posts. So I’ll join the crowd! I’ll be using:

Unity

Gimp and inkscape.

Good luck everyone! It’s going to be a crazy weekend.

Hello Ludum Dare!

Hey everyone!

I am really excited for this upcoming competition. The themes have been so creative and some have made me laugh for hours!

This will be my first time submitting something for ludum dare, well if I’ll even be able to. My goal is to just finish a game and get it submitted. I know there will be bugs and I’m going to try to go with the simplest thing I can think of.

So my question for you guys: Before the theme is released, what recommendations can you give? There’s so much to do that the challenge feels overwhelming.

Cheers,

I recommend getting a decent amount of sleep, at least during the first day. Don’t stay up late or try to pull all-nighters, it’s usually not worth it.

Basically, I’m in

Heyhey, long time no see!
It has probably been a year, maybe a year and a half, since last time participated in this game jam. Lets see if I’m still able to do this!!
Code: Unity and C#
Graphics: Photoshop
Sounds: FL Studio
Music (if I have the time): FL Studio

I used to work with my own inhouse engine written in Java. But this time, for the first time, I’m switching it up to Unity. I have only used it for a week or two so we’ll see how that plays out hehe.

Here we go~!

As (almost) always, I’m in!
Though, I’m not feeling too keen on these themes so far… Feel like I’ve done more -1s than ever!

As usual, my tools consist of:

  • Unity3D
  • Photoshop/Paint.NET
  • Any other tools I have an academic license for

After what happened last LD, I may just do the Jam, but I’ll aim for the Compo. Either way, it’ll be a tonne of fun!

If the postal service is kind, I’ll also have everything needed for some o’ dat sweet, sweet streaming. If I do, you can find it at twitch.tv/pheonise . If I don’t, well, the link will still be valid, it just might be a little… Blank.

Can’t wait for the weekend!

I’m in.

First time. I’ll be using Unity, PyxelEdit, FL Studio and maybe Tiled.
