Im In for Ludum Dare! first game jam ever!

Hey all! pixelghost from victoria bc here. very new to game jams. been doing contract 2d/3d work for indies for the last 2 years or so, and been modding for an extremely long time. just trying to get my name out there, meet some like minded developers, and hopefully jump head first into the industry.

been modding and working on games since i was 13. lately, been learning java and working on a minecraft mod to get my feet wet in the fundamentals of programming so i can apply it to a project ive been mucking about with. will probably bring it to Cocos2d, or unity me thinks, then out to mobile platforms.

I look forward to working with indie islander Developers this weekend. cheers!

Art Software: Blender, Mindtex, Spriter, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, xNormals, SAI, GIMP, GraphicsGale, FUSE, RotSprite, and Krita.

Engines Used Before: Unity, Cocos2d, Unreal

I’m In

Hello. This will be the first time I’ve participated in a Ludum Dare, as long as I can come up with something to fit the theme. I’m going to do the Jam. I will use:

Unity 3D for the Engine/Game Maker

Blender/Sketchup for 3D models and textures

I’ll use music from the website Incomputech.

SFXR for Retro Sound effects if I need them.

I just have one question. I know that these “I’m In” posts are supposed to show that you are a real person, but couldn’t someone just write a program that would tell the computer to generate a random “I’m In” post that made sense and post it? Or is there something that prevents that?

I’m in for my first LD

This is my first attempt at a game jam – we’ll see what happens.

I’ve recently been working on rapid prototypes of games in Unity and it’s gone well. For many years before that I’ve written lower level stuff in C++ but that’s much slower to develop so I’ve not really done anything like this before.

So I’ll be using Unity, or possibly Direct3D 11 depending on what I come up with. Graphics with Pro Motion and GIMP.

I’m in! Trying Scala

I’ll be joining a Scala startup in a few weeks, and to get some practice with the language, I’ll use it for this edition of the Ludum Dare! Scala can access any Java library, so there are probably tons of Java game engines I could be using, but since the goal is to learn what makes Scala unique, I’ll be using Scage, a small Scala-only game engine tailored for simple 2D games.

For the graphics, I’ll probably be using Gimp as usual, or maybe just some basic geometric shapes if my inexperience with the language eats too much of my time. For audio, I plan to keep it simple: no music, and some simple sound effects generated using BFXR. That will be a downgrade in production values compared to Lumber Jacques, the game we made as a team last time for Ludum Dare 32 Jam, but the fact that there will be sound at all will be an upgrade compared to I’ve Seen This Room Before, the game I made solo for Ludum Dare 31 Compo.

I’m in for LD33

I participated in LD 32 and enjoyed it a lot. So, I decided I’d be ready for the next one but then week after week went by and I got next to no practice in. Luckily I work best under a timeline and have spent the past week or two researching some tools to use for this one and even made a warmup weekend game.

So my tools for this one will likely be:

Gdevelop for the engine

GIMP for pictures and art

Bosca Ceoil & SFXR for sounds and music

Excited to learn some new things this time around so I can expand my experience.

Any Java programmers want to jam?

I was hoping to find a buddy or two for the upcoming jam simply because teams are more fun. I was planning to use the LibGDX framework for the game, but I am willing to use Slick2D or just vanilla Java.

Anyone interested?

Id be willing to do some vanilla java :}

I don’t know much about managing code in a team though.

Actually no. I usually use Steam chat to talk to people. I can easily make a Skype if you want. It’s pretty simple to do.

I’m willing, and I know libGDX, so I’m free to working in either that of vanilla Java. I may be only available the first 2 days of the jam, though.

I’m in, hurrah!

This will be my first Ludum Dare, and I am super hyped! I plan on using Unity3D with C#! I hope everyone has fun!

Well, on second thought, how about Elm?

Was planning on using Haskell, but you know what? I do want people to be able to play my game.  It’s  more fun that way.

I toyed around with Elm last year sometime and found it interesting, but didn’t have any real use for it.  But it’s perfect for LD — just compiles right to Javascript.  No downloadin’ nothin’.   I managed to whip up a little 2D fly-around-in-space demo today, and I’m pretty pleased with it, haha.  It clocks in at 117 lines of code, but a lot of those lines are pretty…light.

Functional reactive programming is so sexy.  And I like using underdog programming languages.  And it’s close enough to Haskell for my purposes.

wooooo

Maybe looking for someone to jam with…

I will be using gamemaker: studio. I’m just looking for someone who might want to do the jam with me. If no one responds, I’ll just do the compo by myself. <3

P.S. It is my first Ludum Dare! 😀

Looks.

Looks like I’m probably in.

In all honesty I’d thought I’d have a job by now. No job. Not even a call.

So yes, I THINK I’m in.

Who Want to Hit Security guard and Insecurity guard

as

You are the security guard of an Asylum and you are about to be a witness of a mayor breakout, try to survive as long as you can by staying alive, do not let them tear you apart. It is not uncommon for people, think jurors, to believe that security guards are like the Secret Service and have the rights of police officers and the obligation to save people from the bad guys. We have all seen the movies where the security guard throws someone out of a restaurant for making a fuss like in Beverly Hills Cop. But is this real life? The simple truth is “no.” The reality is security guards are not Supermen; They are actually ordinary citizens, no more, no less.

Probability would say that I’m in !

Really lookin forward to this LD, I have learned from my mistakes and this time hope to
finish !

However GCSE Results come out in 3 days, so if i get Fs i may start late,
but probality would say that i won’t get Fs so YEAH IM IN ! ! !

EDIT: () ->
Oh yeah and i will be using
CoffeeScript for code
Piskel for graphics(Pixel art is awesome)
and Pulseboy for music

Good luck everyone 😀

While we’re Waiting…

Cool Animated Robot

So I just decided to make a robot animation while we’re waiting for the big event! But I got lazy to animate the legs !

Anyone wanna teamup?

I’m a sound designer/composer looking for someone to work with for my first ludum dare! Check out examples of my music at: https://soundcloud.com/kinetik-lee. Feel free to contact me at kinetik.lee@gmail.com if you’re interested!

Thanks!

In this jam i am learning and developing the game in libgdx[ very new to this 2d game engine]. Btw i am a programmer… i heard your musics in sound cloud, it is cool…

I’m in and I’ve a new site

I’m in for LD33. This will be my 4th time and I’ll be using LibGdx again because it’s awesome.

In preparation I’ve compiled a new website with all my past Ludum Dare entries and possible future blog posts and games. Tell me what you think:

First LD! We’re In!

This is our first Ludum Dare! We are Anomaly Atom. We are a team of cousins (Gabriel & Christian)

The tools … e.e

Programming: Game Maker (GML) or Java Eclipse with Pydev (Python)

Graphics and art: Photoshop, Piskel.

Sound: I dunno.

1st time participants

We are KerSplotch Police, me Dean and my friend Cameron, two guys straight out of uni trying to live the dream of being a game dev.  We’ll be daring for our first time and hope to make something pretty cool.  We’ll be using C# Unity for the code  and aseprite and photoshop for the graphics.

ps Dinosaurs Rule

We’re in!

Me and my team oh yeah! Looking forward to Ludum Dare 33, been wanting to enter one for a while and I always seem to keep missing them. Not this time! Gonna enter the Jam this year, and we’re getting so hyped.

Here’s what our team consists of and what we’ll use most likely (to those curious):

Here’s the roster and what tools we are bringing:

  • Phar (Me) – The Programmer
    • Unity 5
    • Monodevelop (C#)
    • Notepad++
  • SporkThe Audio Composer and Self-Proclaimed CEO
    • Some recording software that I don’t remember the name of. (Wups)
    • Audacity
    • SFXR
  • Mika & Sinsorium The Artist Duo
    • Paper
    • Pencils
    • GIMP
    • mspaint.exe
  • Cainsith & SteathfoxThe QA Leads
    • DevBuild copies of our game.
    • Ability to destroy nice things.

And we’ll all be using:

  • TeamSpeak (to communicate)
  • TeamViewer (to screenshare and share files)
  • Gitlab (To keep backups because I tend to break things while forgetting how to revert it.)
  • Chrome/Firefox (because without Google I’d probably forget what a float is. (probably not though))

This is gonna be our first time hardcore working together at the same time (and a much needed break from a certain other game we’re working on), so it’s sure to be fun lol. Welp, Good luck everyone else and have fun~
