Finished 1 Hour Early! :O

I managed to play videogames and make a videogame this weekend! I put about 12 hours into making “Rocky,” because I underestimated myself. Then I ended up not finishing until the last minute because I was doing other stuff. 😛

Gameplay! Powerups! Death! Stoopid Robats!

StoopidRobats

I now have most of the art in place. Created the animations for the character, sprites for the breaker powerup and proper lasers and particle effects are now working. Also added spinning laser obstacles of space-murder.

Falling and shape shifting:

Compo done and game is up!

screenshot3My first compo is now done, and it’s quite a feeling. I ended up doing something that might be viewn more as a toy than a game. When I learned about the theme, shapeshifting, I remembered reading up, just some days ago, the Superformula, an equation that can be used to describe a lot of different complex shapes that often end up looking pretty organic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superformula). So I tried implementing it, and wanted to give the user the ability to manipulate the parameters to create different shapes.

I also used the Superformula’s parameters to generate sounds (fairly) procedurally, so different shapes will sound differently (but if two shapes are exactly the same, they will also sound the same).

The “goal” of the game is to wonder around pushing entities close to each other, to make them create connections between them. When there’s a connection, they will send signals to each other, that trigger their sound. You can change their shape (and sound) by shooting a “seed” on them.

Everything (programming, graphics, sounds) was made with Processing.

Give it a try here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-35/?action=preview&uid=57043

I look forward to see what you people have created this time!

Music?

For the Compo do we need to make game music ourselves too or is it OK to use royalty-free music?

Compo you have to make your own. Jam you can use royalty free.

All done!

There’s so much more I could have done, but I’m pretty fried so far. I made city builder (possibly the only one for this theme?). As always, I’m not sure if it’s good or terrible, but please play it if you’re so inclined!

Play Tetropolis!

Blue Moon – Timelapse

Here is a timelapse of the creation of Blue Moon. I wish I had captured shots at a higher rate. The first day was every minute and second day was every 30 seconds.

You can play Blue Moon here

All good!

Will upload the build soon, only sacrifice this time is sound. No sound at all, the post compo version will probably have some…

Can’t join

I can’t join compo because I don’t even know how to get a source code and put the game into a website so people can download it.

Use dropbox. That’s the easiest way that I know of.

Graphics Update

Just finished the art of the characters. I will have to go my job tomorrow, so i have to run to finish the game. But the gameplay is ready at least 😀

just keep going guys!! I really like this, looks good and the most important: functional.

The weaponsmith is working!

Make the right combination to craft the right weapon for the heroes!

Done!

I only had around 10 hours due to unplanned circumstances, but I managed to create *something* in any case. I definitely wish I could have had time to create some clever levels or have a player shape editor or something like that, but the mechanics are solid and that’s good enough ^^

Will do a post-mortem tomorrow~

Screenschot intro

The game plays out fairly simple.

The game is played with the arrow keys and the spacebar.

There are a few additional instructions in level 1, so it might help to start there.

Enjoy

Whew, Transcube is complete!

Well that was fun, I’m really happy with how it turned out!

If you fancy a puzzle game, hit the big old image to check it out! 😀

Oh crap!

Only a few minutes left and I just realize something I forgot, the intro screen and credits! D: Time to crack it out ASAP

AHHHH!!

Eugh! somehow I pulled through even though I don’t like my game

Ok, I wasn’t too keen on the theme but, I still came up with an idea and had to really battle my innate ability to distract myself when I’m not interested. That being said I’m sure this one could have been a lot better had I taken even more time to come up with an idea that gave me that enthusiasm to want to finish. Its 01:40 here and obviously LD35 ends very shortly. Congrats to all those that entered and managed to see their creations through to the end. I look forward to playing your games and more importantly look forward to LD36.

NightBird

Finally finished! I didn’t think I would make it in time, since I spent way too much time sculpting the character, but here it is.

Plot: A man who can transform into a bird has to defend the city when a group of criminals are attacking in the night.

I’m very happy with this game, although i half implemented online multiplayer but had to stop as I knew I would run out of time, was dealing with quite a big bug

Game3

With that all done the only problem I have is that the animated character  shows as a white block in the web build, and I know I’m not the only one with this problem, has any one seen this in a unity web build before – did you have a fix for it, I’m not sure what is causing it:
