Shapeshifting intensifies….

Four hours until submission; nice lightning effect and some pretty cool sounds are on the way!

Today, I was able to add another level during my lunch time at work, hopefully I can add more tonight before the deadline… if not, of well… I’ll just add more after the jam is over !

I wish I could have had more time, but I entered for fun, so anyway 😀

Cheers to all other participants and enjoy !

Check out my simple (puzzle?) game!

A small game made on the second day of the compo about matching shapes!

Make sure to post you scores!!

What I took out of making this game:

-how to make GUI look good.

-how to get a game done in about 10 hours.

-how to keep it simple. Maybe too simple?

My LD35 entry: Transformers

A tank combat game, with RTS controls.

Where is the shapeshifting? Well, the tanks can transform into airplanes to quickly move over the battlefield (sadly this was left uninplemented).

The game was made with Game Maker, Bosca Ceoil and Bfxr, in about 20 hours.

It’s 4 am on a monday but we finished our game so it’s worth it. In this game you can “shapeshift” objects / enemies into other things like bombs, chickens etc. You can go stealth and drop pianos on your enemies from a distance or you can go guns blazing turning everything into random stuff!

Anyways.. We had a bit of a rough start but in the end we’re quite satisfied with the result. Thanks for playing!

First Ludum Dare Finished!

Just finished my first ludum dare! It feels pretty amazing.

Check it out here: Rageshifter

I was only able to work on it for less than a day, but I’m happy with it.

Enjoy everbody!

Get addicted!

I finally created a “complete” game. It’s an endless runner game where you have to change shape to fit through the wall segments.

Originally, I wanted to use blendshapes to get a smooth transition when changing shape, but blender is not really suited for that.

Shifty Shapes of Grey Finished!

My very first Ludum Dare entry is finished and uploaded, I am so very excited about this and can’t wait to hear what people think about it 😀

We have finished

We have managed to finished, even make small responsive website for the game: https://devcarpet.net/deershifter/. We wanted to start playing others game, but not so many people provide html / linux builds… Let’s see bit later.

Thank you everyone!

LD Entry: SpinStar

This is my finished compo entry, best way I’d describe it is what would happen if you cross Ikaruga with Super Hexagon, you’d get a difficult, fast paced bullet hell where you must switch colours to absorb matching bullets or dodge anything else.

To match with the theme, the boss shapeshifts and the player can shapeshift into one of two kind of ships a fast-yet-large or small-yet-slow.

I originally had both a HTML5 and Windows version, however there seems to be a problem with HaxeFlixel’s HTML builds being extremely slow even on high performing machines, even though this never happens on either Windows or Flash builds.

Vote for the game here or go play the game directly here.

Second Ludum Dare for me. I decided to change it up a bit and learn something new. So I went with the JavaScript/Typescript + Three.js + Physi.js. This was my first time doing anything in JavaScript so learning that and TypeScript a few hours before the compo was fun. I used TypeScript since I’m used to OOP and static typing through Java. Using TypeScript brought some problems though, since the definition files from definitelytyped.org were not completely accurate for Physi.js.

At first I didn’t like the theme, I already had a killer idea of a puzzle game for Everything is connected. I wanted to have 3D and physics in this game since thats fun to tinker with. Brainstorming took place and I ended up with Transmuto – a game about shooting polyhedrons. You yourself are a polyhedron, you shoot your own shape, while your enemies are only vulnerable to their own shape. You shapeshift after collecting positive and negative polygons.

What went right

  • I like the audio. Making it on audiotool.com/app/ was fun.
  • Graphics are okay too. I had some custom shaders in mind, I wanted nice smooth shadows and a rather clean look. But I simply didn’t have time.
  • In the end I think its playable, I improved from last time, definitely made it much easier and balanced as I was close to submitting.
  • I learned JavaScript/TypeScript.

What went wrong

  • I struggled with physics. The Physi.js docs are almost non-existent and combined with the Typescript definitions not being annotated, I ended up fixing a bug as simple as extends Physijs.Mesh -> extends Physijs.SphereMesh for 5 hours on the first day.
  • I didn’t have time for proper level design and just adding more features I thought of. ^^

Altered Beard – by beard powers

3 consecutive days really can end up with the guy, or girl, and I was already in another jam, before that (it was LOWREZJAM), and I forgot the deadline

The experiment of these three days was just this very young demo of the game, I consider demo because unfortunately I didn’t done the end of level
Today the last day I had to make a trip and lost 8 hours :(((

Everywhere Strike (LOWREZJAM)
|| Talking about the game now ||

Altered Beard is a game made to honor an icon, and a friend of mine.
Here you control Beardanu, a peaceful citizen who decided now distribute the blow to see how it is. and precisely at the time he decided to do this, the city is invaded by aliens. Thanks to the power of the majority vote, Beardanu can become president to kick the ass of aliens.

I thought polish the game today but my work decided otherwise ! Anyway I’m glad to submit this game. It’s the first time that I work almost alone (a friend help me with the sound and it’s way better this way !) and I’m quite surprised to what I could achieve in 24 hours !

Hope you’ll enjoy this game.
