I’m in

Didn’t think I’d participate in this one, but I thought of an interesting game idea for this theme  so I’m going to jump in a little late anyway.  We’ll see how far I can get with it.

I will be using Blender and MonoGame.  This is my first time using 3D in XNA/MonoGame — should be interesting.  Not gonna livestream, but I’ll capture a timelapse with Chronolapse.

Wish me luck.

Test level ready!

Just did a quick test level to try out physics, movement, and the collection mechanism.

What tool is that?

After a hour of thinking and two hours of sleeping

I resorted to reading about ancient weapons on wikipedia…

It’s actually helping me! Half an hour of learning a bit about it could bring even more ideas and help me develop my main idea specifically 😛

Catapult from wikipedia. Stop worrying I’ll make in time goddammit! Probably..

day one work summary

i made a wheel spin and do a sound effect, but it was sort of a foray into gml and a good learning opportunity, as silly as that may seem

also made a song (if you can even call it that), though i dont know if ill use it in the Final Product

and finally, i planned out some of the minigames ill be doing – i want there to be like “sets” for different parts of the ancient world, and each one will have an equivalent for a motion one can do with a keyboard and mouse. i think ill focus on the tutorial or “early man” set for now, and see if i can get different sets done by the time ld is over.

for now, im sleepy, so im gonna go ahead and go to bed. see ya

Looking Forward to my results!

This is the first time I am entering a Ludum Dare Competition and I am kinda worried I am not going to make it on time (from the day it is posted), but I will try my best.

I am going to use the programming language Lua, with the 2D game engine (technically my Library) LOVE2d.

Wish Me Luck!

Nice theme. I will be using HaxeFlixel as 2D engine this time. Have Fun everyone. :-)

Character Motion Test

Time to call it a night for now. So far the animation and physics are going well. Would have liked to get jumping in before taking a break but I’m feeling old :) .

Really enjoying making this game. Hopefully I’ll have time to continue it this weekend.

Very last minute decision to join

Finally decided I’ll be taking a break from the university this weekend and joining in the fun.

For the first time I think I’m going to be using Unity so I can try and concentrate on ‘gameplay’ instead of game functionality which is where I usually spend the first day.

I’ve just woken up, and seen the theme which sounds pretty cool

Coming along…

Calling it quits until tomorrow, but I’ve got my basic mechanic implemented. This is my first compo, so I’m a little nervous that I won’t be able to finish. But still, lots of fun! Using Unity, Blender, Gimp, and Microsoft Visual Studio.

Today’s Progress

Got started late again, but did get to know the theme on-time, so while away to eat dinner, I came-up with a rough game concept. As far as a story is concerned.  I’ll leave you all to drool over the working title: “The Artifact”

screeny:

I’m focusing on artwork last…mechanics are much more import to get nailed-down first.

There’s a 30% chance this become a platform, but it’s more likely gonna be a third-person shooter/RPG, MAYBE some kind of puzzle, or a weird hybrid. I have even considered…a quiz!

Gotta say though, I’m excited about ancient tech!

Update #1

I decided to do this in a team instead of doing compo.

After some hours brainstorming, we finally got an idea.

It’s something to do with rope and pulley system.

I don’t know whether pulley is an ancient technology or not, but we’re going with that anyway.

Oh, it’s Ludum Dare?

36 snuck up on me.  If I’ve time for it, here are the tools:

Language: HaxeFlixel
IDE: Sublime Text
Graphics: GIMP, GraphicsGale
Sound: bfxr, LMMS

Luck all!

Have an idea

Woke up at 3 AM to see the theme. Not what I hoped for but it got me thinking.

Decided to watch Stargate (1994) for inspiration and decided to just make a blatant rip-off.

Remembering how to animate!

I really should have spent some time relearning blender before jumping into this, but that’s what I say everytime.

4 hours of work has gotten me a textured, rigged, and animated character walking around on a box!

Day 0

idk wat do

I tried to blender something

OUR PROTAGONIST

I’m going to try to do a pixel art texture.

I’m using http://www.celsiusgs.com/blog/2011/07/low-poly-modelling-screencast/

It’s kinda got pendleton ward proportions. Nice angles and silhouette

Ludum Hype + Noobie

6:57 A.M here, I just woke up to start this. First time all by my own, I’m quite nervous.

Gonna try to do my own game ( I’ve never programming, I’m usually the designer). I decided that if I can’t do something “cool” in 10 hours, I’ll start to do a board game, so lets see what can I do alone. I already have an idea; I love radio and history, so let’s work about IIWW.

Good luck everybody! I hope I have some!

Change of plans

No GMS – too rusty. I’ll stick to HTML5 for this.
