Procedural Generation and exploration yay!
I have a simple system for generating the ground of a planet!
And of course you can fly around in a spaceship 😀

So for this Ludum Dare, I’m working on a basic runner game, what with it being a very long time since I last finished a game (and also not feeling great, blegh).
The theme is running with fire through winter to try and spread it to other places. I’m in the middle of actually adding hazards, but I love seeing how crude and rudimentary my prototypes were in retrospect, so here’s a screenshot.

I’m using LOVE2d in the end after all instead of Phaser, I hope that doesn’t mess me up when it comes to submission! Aaa!

Well, we are 1/4 of the way through. Ever since i woke up today i have been writing boilerplate code for LWJGL, as well as the calculator “simulator”. Now however i have stuff show up on the calculator screen, and i can now start programming the games, which will be played inside the calculator “simulator”.

With the addition of basic spiders, The ‘mechanics’ side of my game is complete!
Now its time for sound, many many tiles and much world building!
Although I don’t think I’ll be able to achieve a map like Jet Set Willy:

I still plan to go quite large, with my current map 8 chunks by 8 chunks, or 64 rooms large, and I can always expand that later!
So, not going well so far. As a continuation of my “I’m In” post, my car stopped working yesterday, so I called for a tow. Well the tow truck broke down picking my car up (it wouldn’t go into high idle which was needed to actually pick up my car). We eventually got it working, but four hours in high heat and dehydrated, and I feel sick, not to mention worried since I probably need to get a new car. This is after some stressful time at work as we had an elusive site crashing bug. In short (too late) I’m completely out of energy.
So I’m faced with a difficult choice. Step out and get the much needed decompression, or soldier on and make something to keep my submission streak. I’ve submitted a game every LD since discovering the jam, so I’m really stressed. Not sure what to do at this point, any thoughts?
I’m a big fan of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. My game is a kind of spin-off

Hi,
Our team consists of me (Miroslav) and my brother (Peter). We are going to be making a game for the iOS.
I will be doing all the programing. For the programming I am going to be using Xcode. The game will be written in Swift and will be using Apple’s Metal.
My brother is going to be using Photoshop for all the graphics. As for sounds, they will be created in GarageBand (if we get there).
You can check Peter’s art at this link.

Hi! We’re SRSBZNZ (or, four friends who are really excited about making games but don’t have much experience) from South Africa.
We’re making a gameshow themed 2D brawler using Unity and Photoshop.
The player finds themselves 1000 years in future, in a post-climate change-devastated underwater world. While scientists’ attempts at altering the past have not been fruitful, time travel has created an opportunity for some kick-ass entertainment. Welcome to MEGARADERATIMEDEATHMATCH GAMESHOW! Three human clans travel back in time to fight ancient enemies with ancient tools – all in the hopes of winning a much coveted prize.
We’ll have some art up later today.
xoxo
I’m total noob what comes to animation and everything like that, i’m really a coder, not an animator. But, since i’m alone at this, i had to download paint.net and start making pixel art since it seemed the easiest way to get around. But after making few sprite i started to import them to unity, and they looked horrible!
So i had to start googling, and third result from the top, and actually the best guide from the top three results, was god damn 2015 Ludum Dare where username sydan had put specific instruction how to import pixel art to unity! And that seriously saved me and my project! so, I hope you see this since i don’t know how to or if you even can tag people to posts, sydan, you saved my project. Thank you so much for such a good guide!
Hi there!
We are The Mad Knights and this is our third LD as a team. This time we are gonna use Unity as our Game Engine instead of Phaser. We are really excited to try it but also afraid because we don’t have enough experience.
We have finished our brainstorming session and we are starting the game design. Our main idea is the following:
“You are a dungeon and you need to protect an ancient treasure from brave explorers. You can activate some traps to stop, slow or just kill them”
See you soon!

I’ve chosen to interpret “Ancient Technology” as allowing me to make any sort of game, but do it using ancient technology, and so I’ve been working on trying to make something for MS-DOS. I’m using C with the Allegro library the DJGPP compiler and RHIDE editor in DOSBOX. We’ll see if I can complete anything in time.

Here’s my we are in message.
We started 4-5 hours after the official starting time, and it took more than a hour to decide and define our game, but we eventually decided and got to work. Our game starts in a laboratory, which I’m currently working on while the other teammates work on the different levels design.
The current textures are a little stolen (downloaded) and that’s the reason for the “temporary” title on the textures – we are gonna make some new ones later today. Here’s a photo of the lab I’m working on:

Good luck to everyone and to us (we really need it 😛 )
There’s absolutely no way ancient Egyptians would build those monument by themselves. It’s not like they had vast, powerful and wealthy civilization. And specialised labour was only invented after 1994, right?

Here’s one more gif of the next room…
Producing these rooms is taking longer than expected so I’m just going to blast some out for a while.
Predation bug is buggy… this is why things need to die.

gimp
jukedeck

Eek, the theme wasn’t very inspirational for all of us, but I think we have an idea for starts. Something about a puzzle game in a Spelunky visual theme. Let’s see if I can get a prototype started.

The most ancient technology of controlling humankind is religion.
So we are making the game about you being a prophet on the recently discovered parallel universe.
It will be a multiplayer game with spectators. Everyone can watch and when feels confident enough to be a prophet can join the game and write his own holy book.
Stay tuned.
