Basic gameplay… ready?

Hello! Remember me? Yeah, no, don’t sweat it, I know you don’t. :)

Anyway, our humble untitled game, though very, very low on content, is actually playable. It even calculates your score, how cool is that?

ludum36_sunrise

We’re planning to add some stuff, mostly levels (obviously) and some eye-and-hopefully-ear-candy, maybe a feature or two if we can come up with any. You can play it right now, if you’re bored. Note, howewer, that the “next level” button currently acts as a restart, but hey, work in progress! :)

I will probably go to bed now, since I’ve found myself procrastinating too much lately.

Good luck with your projects, everyone, I look forward to playing all those awesome-looking games!

Didnt even know

Ah man i didnt know the theme was even announced guess its to late to start something to be finished but i may as well make something

Also starting late (haven’t even started yet really). My best LD entry was started 6 hours before submitting, just adapt scope and ambition to way less than seems reasonable!

We’re in and Progress

The Team:

  • Manu: Development – 5th participation to Ludum dare and the first one without my teammate Wan.
  • Ben: Graphic artist – first participation to a game jam

We have decided to create a plateformer using phaser.js.

Love the artwork!

First game jam!

First game jam with ChazieMcBlack and Stending ! I already worked with Chazie in the past (mostly on movies.. check us out: BUTTSHARK) … And we’re trying to work on bigger games!

Anyway,
I’m working on the design on this project, .. here’s my progress:

Finally I’m in

With defold / photoshop

As usual after a half a day got the idea that for Ludum I need to make something really simple. Each time I participiate (already 7 or 8) always make this assumption that It’s possible to makee AAA project in 48h.

Now I have simple and clean idea and as always 2d platformer :)

ancient art of ball herding

Feeling better about this turning into a game in the next ~24 hours.  Think it could go a couple directions, either a cookie-clicker-like where you buy tiles and make a machine that makes points, or puzzle levels where you have to rearrange movable tiles on the map to solve a puzzle.

The bad news is I just found out my tween lib is not working in published game builds, so I’ll have to sort that out. But at least I’m finding this out now and not during the submission hour!

End of day 1

Tired but happy with the results :)
I almost have a complete game by now so tomorrow will be just juicing it up.

Progress shot

Hey guys,

It’s Peter this time, the artist in our team of two! I have some interesting things to show you. We went for a game set in space where the player is a stationary space station in the middle of the screen. All sorts of things go for him and try to destroy him and he just can’t move! Got to find another way to save himself. That is where a shield comes in handy. One controlled rotary with an axis in the middle. Might come for a interesting mechanic, especially for a mobile game, we will see.

You can see the station here – the second one, I had to eliminate the first one as with its small details it could not really have been seen on any smartphone. Has a green shield.

Also, one very, very tiny .GIF where you can see some motion!

Like what you see? If you have interest in my art, head over to my portfolio at FB or Artstation.

Thanks,

Peter.

End of Day One

End of Day One

It’s my first ever game jam and I’m loving it! We decided to interpret the theme by making a spelunky / Indiana jones inspired platformer, hopefully with some cool mechanical traps. I’m happy that we have a technically complete game (you can win and die) and still have some time for new features and polish.

Here is the link for the git hub pages site which will be hosting the latest version of the game. (excuse the programmer art, kyle is busy making pretty pictures.)

I’m In!

Hi Everyone!

I forgot to mention that I’m in for my second LD, this time in the Jam with a friend!
Good luck to all, I’ve seen a lot of nice previews so far :)

Oh btw I am in

I am in as a jam participant.  :)

Using my own game maker : https://xotraz.itch.io/le-livre-dont-vous-tes-le-crateur for Game Book. Sorry it’s written in French and there is little explanation about it (but it’s open source).

I have done improvement so it can display image and play song.

All graphics are from open source work  as are all songs.

Updates from the Cat’s Pajamas

We’ve made some progress today.

Basic battle system works! Cq5MDrQUkAEmNU_[1]

Crafting system works! LudumDare36Screen

Our guest composer is also working on some battle music.

Hopefully we can continue to make good progress for the rest of the day.

It Begins!

Me and Commie are teaming up for LD again. LD35 was awesome and we got some great feedback from all the guys who played our game, CombiBox.

Here’s our first WIP shot for LD36 – we all know the early 90s we so, so long ago.

Im in, and I think I did good

I have just got done making my game “Would you microwave it”. It was made in game maker and I think I did a pretty good job. I hope everyone likes it. There is a few levels, 11 to be exact but if it goes good in the ludum then I might expand the game. Hope you play it, and hope you enjoy it!Screenshot (102)

My game

I am making a dungeon crawler game about finding artifacts and stuff. I’ve got some more ideas I’d like to implement, but that’s all I can say for sure right now.

I want it to have procedural level generation. However, I did not know how to do procedural level generation, so I’m following this tutorial: http://gamedevelopment.tutsplus.com/tutorials/create-a-procedurally-generated-dungeon-cave-system–gamedev-10099

Untitled

Yeah…this is placeholder art. For example, the player and enemies currently have the same icon. Sliiightly confusing. I’ll make it clearer at least, but don’t count on the art looking a great deal better.

It’s technically playable! Just not…very fun. Also there are lots of bugs.

I AM A GAME DESIGN MASTER!1!

Downgrading goal to tech demo.

After tinkering for a while, I have a minimal tileset ready. My hunch is that I can be happy with a “tech demo” – probably won’t reach the complete game state.
