Getting Somewhere - Gameplay & Audio

After a couple more hours, it is basically playable!

https://youtube.com/watch?v=n_kaBXRwFx4

IMO the coolest thing about this right now is the fact that the visual and audio feedback when the ball bounces of something is literally the exact same thing/data/oscillation. (The whole thing doesn't flash like in the video to the human eye btw.)

The patch has gotten quite big by now, but I am really happy with how well PureData has been working for me, especially considering the very little experience I have had with it before yesterday.

I think I got everything I did together in this screenshot (click for fullscreen): plonat-patch.png/a

Knocking Off For The Night

Finishing up tomorrow. Gort isn't giving me any more trouble. Klaatu Barada Nikto

Basically starting over

Godot wasn't working as an engine, too many roadblocks. So, picking up with IG Maker, from the same people as RPG Maker. RPG Maker games get their own spot on the shelf of people's hearts, it seems, so let's see if I can't cobble together a new game, with less of the time as the Compo and less of the skill one should have for the Jam :D

I finished my game

My game is at a playable state with no loose ends, but a few collision failures but only when you die but i don't know how to upload it.

Its Starting to Look Like a Real Game

I still have to impliment enemies, and do some polish + sound effects, but aside from that it's almost done! Thinking about turning in for the night soon.

Don't Burn Out

Funny how on a free day, it seems you get less done. I started on a track for my team's game, but keep second guessing myself. Is this good enough? Maybe it sucks. But the thing is, I probably need to stop thinking about being good or not as good as some other people I avidly follow.

In other words, our game is coming together. We have a playable build. It's basically an open worldish, ala Reprisal type of game where you grow and maintain a colony. Or something like that.

Hopefully, after a break, I'll come up with some better music. For now, this is all I have in terms of music:

Working on Art

The base of my game is complete to a level that I'm happy with. I'm working on the polish now. Trying to learn how to sprite.

Here's my progress. http://imgur.com/cJnGjwQ player_art.png

Idle pacing, bathing, and food types

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQfT7BRN79M

Progress!!

I may ditch it depending on how animations work out (oh god, drawing real art), but the creature now "paces" back and forth when not doing anything

Added a "cloth" to the menu to clean the creature up when it gets stinky

Added the ability to change the food type. Purely aesthetic right now. Hoping that creature type will be able to only eat certain types of food.

First Prototype

I'm making a game called RNG. The setting is a classical RPG. But instead of the player, you play as a random number generator in the game and decide what random encounter the player has. You can choose from different type of monsters, a village and different types of item in treasure chest. You only have very limited options and your goal is to make the (AI) player beat the game before he realizes how repetitive the RPG world is. The player will leave the game either when he's bored by the repetitive pattern of the game or he finds the game is too hard or too easy.

Currently I've finished the first prototype. The next steps are making better-looking assets and adjusting to have a proper difficulty.

Procedural shrinking world

Huh, a little strange to work on a procedurally generated and map and think to yourself, "this is the first time I made maps procedurally..." It's a first for someone!

Here's the current progress so far:

Screenshot 2017-04-23 (1679).gif Screenshot 2017-04-23 (1687).gif

Name of the Game: Twitch Assault

Tagline of the Game: The Top Streamers of the World are Stealing Followers of Others. Its Your Turn to steal them back. Free the Followers, Destroy the Channels. Conquer the Communities. Only you Can Stand above all Streamers in the World. Are you Ready?

Engine: UE4 v4.15.1 Plugins: TwitchPlugin(Custom Made by Me) Artwork: Gifs Converted into Sprite Sheets. So I created them? O_o Then made into Materials...

Game Style: Bullet Hell

Why? Because.... .... Idk.. Its a Small World Afterall. Figured beating your streaming friends down. Would be Awesome. Lulz.

Some new enemy types!

After a long day at the E.R. (everyones alright) I was finally able to work on the game, It's coming along and definately playable, i'm feeling the time limit now though! looks like i'm not going to have time to make music. https://snag.gy/N3A1lt.jpg

Update: A small world it is

Small screen shot from the current state of our game. It sure does look like a small world.

Making progress ever so slightly in our first jam.

Glitches are fun?

Don't worry -- we fixed it and our game is awesome, but we couldn't help but love this version.

Gameplay Progress

In contrast to my last Ludum Dare, I was able to focus on my game mechanics for most of today.

As a result, I have more of a game that I had last time. Yeah!

I need to add some tutorial/explanation to the interface. I'd love to add some particle effects. And sound may be a possibility this time around. But that's just a todo list.

Here's some screenshots of what it looks like: http://imgur.com/a/m0IB1

Status Update

Little Pluto has become a physics-centric side scrolling shoot-em-up. Turns out, when you use Unreal 4, it's real hard not to just abuse physics for fun.

Got Some Particle Effects in

gif6.gif Also set up a world map! gif7.gif I think I have to call it a night though, being as it is almost one a.m.

First Screenshot!

We've got the basics all set up! Now we just have to make sure it's fun.

So far so good, Working on Pillagers

'When they ask you how the first LD day went':

https://media.giphy.com/media/l0IynXVgwagYIxoL6/giphy.gif

So far we've been busy with art assets and core gameplay implementation. We wasted hours on concepting, different ideas but nothing specific came up so we decided to focus on this one idea that we liked most. Project Pillagers is born.

I spent quite some time on our characters yesterday. Wanted to try something new with simple art style, ended up with the first character that we weren't happy with, so decided to make another one that was more consistent in terms of the style. Here's before and after comparison shot:

Today we'll be focusing on actually testing gameplay (hah) and balancing. I'll be working on some environment art as well.

I've been checking out some projects on the page and so far well done guys! Some cool stuff popping up sometimes. Good luck today.

Cheers. -Luka.
