Progress 2

We have made solid progress for our game! We have about 75% of the engine done and 10% of the content done but we have a now fully functionnal level maker to make content faster. If we keep this going we'll definitely have time to finish! Here's a sneak peak: sneak.PNG

I'm so tired.

All I can do right now is make dumb gifs.

I'm in!

Player 2 has entered.

Some basic particles

My game's getting hotter and hotter

First time animating for my games, until now i'm pretty happy with my work, so i thought, lets share it with you!

Saturday comes to a close - progress is afoot!

Time to call it a night, I think. I've got a commitment of a few hours tomorrow, but if I can get started nice and early I should be able to get a solid 9 hours of work in. It's gonna be a scramble, but I think I can pull something off.

Since my last update, got some core "game essentials" in place:

  • The level end actually advances the level (although there's just one, for now)
  • Added an "enemy" - a tree that shoots pollen, which is very harmful to Bubble Boy
  • More importantly, added the concepts of lives, hit points, death, and game overs, to go with the enemy
  • Put a few rudimentary sound effects in place.

Looks a little something like this, at the moment:

Feeling uninspired

Yesterday I completed a world editor thing that made spherical planets.

Today all I really accomplished was shoving that inside a UI.

day2-1 day2-2

I think my lack of enthusiasm is partially due to the fact that I seriously dislike the chosen theme, and also that it’s kind of hard to build a fun game out of a planet drawing program.

As you can see by the above screenshots, my game assigns certain properties to planets (although the density property is not configured yet) and the idea was that you would try to create planets to sell to some set of buyers – my ideas included housing companies and aliens – who each would look for something particular in the planets they were buying.

I think I might simply go to bed – four hours earlier than last night! – and see if I’m feeling more inspired tomorrow. 😐

What I’m working on also involves planets, but I do not intend to make a game out of it, but instead a “digital sandbox”.

Progress so far...

Today I wasn't able to do much, wife, kids, and work...

But... I did get a menu system built, where you'll be able to enable/disable sound/music, and also start or exit the game. I've never done that before so that was cool.

I got the player character moving, and shooting. I think I have the gist of my idea ready, and procedural generation will be my help to make sure there is content to fight against.

I need to figure out scaling of enemies (ants) and the player character (weapon strength, life, etc) to ensure some progression is present for the game.

It'll be an action game top down where you try to kill ants that are building nests around your house. The player purchased a mech suit that shrinks down to size, and is blasting those ants to bits, and dropping bombs into their holes, ensuring they never return!

Slow Progress

I'm officially at the stage where a lot of the code I'm writing has no actual visual change yet. Hopefully my game will start to come together much more quickly now.

Seeing progress

Got all of the map rendering / stitching figured out and working. It's currently an endless map where each new room is random. Hopefully tomorrow we can add some of the physics / collision stuff, mechanics, and polish.

First Look at Gameplay

We're streaming over at https://www.twitch.tv/messinabrothers, so come check us out. Here's a current look at the latest build. What a mess!

Re-Uniting the world... with anti-aircraft guns

Been working away at a game called One Golden Sun, based on Disney's "It's a Small World" song about global cooperation.

The year is 2050 and the world's leading nations, divided by a rising spirit of nationalism, are easy prey for Sardonia, a coalition of aggressive totalitarian regimes. Dozens of coordinated attacks have destroyed the flow of resources between the free nations of the world and it is up to you to restore vital trade routes so that the free world will not fall.

In addition to rebuilding the trade routes, you must build anti-aircraft turrets and use them to shoot down waves of enemy fighters that are bent on destroying your trade route repairs.

Crazy decisions.. (maybe)

My Construct 2 Project is very buggy right now. I think switching the Unity craziest but most effective move ever for me.

I'm out

I've got an unexpected guest. This ld's date happened to be terrible for me.

So I won't make it this time. See you in August.
