My first time in Ludum Dare.
Still don't know what I'm really going to create :scream:, but I want to have a lot of fun
Given that my team calls itself tiny planet studios it's only fitting that our representative should make a game about a tiny planet right. small scale exploration is the horse I'm putting all my money on.
First time here, and just somehow created an account with my password as the username, which it turns out you can't change. Off to a good start, I say!
Second Ludum Dare, hopefully it goes better than the first!
Man, at first I didn't know what to do with this theme but now my mind is buzzing. I've settled on something and even wrote up a short design doc so I know where I'm going. It even has some ideas if I decide to run with it beyond Ludum Dare, which is a really exciting prospect!
I wish I had something to show, but I've been working on designing the gameplay and keeping the scope (hopefully) within game jam limits. I thought I was going to stay up super late tonight, but I actually think getting some good sleep and tackling all the difficult stuff refreshed will be better.
Well, I can kinda see how this game will match the theme to an effect. The game can take place on these small world kind of levels, and you need to collect n number of objects in order to progress to the next world. Each world will have a different collectible goal for you and there are different chasers to pursue you.
Massive challenge I'm having right now is getting the movement system down. I thought I could use Unity's rotate around or translate on a flat surface, but I'm realizing I'm going to need to do some more maths. Yay! We shall see how it turns out. Tomorrow I'll decide if it's more beneficial to prototype the sticky booger on a flat surface than a curved one.. it might just be more logical too. Hmm.. I'm thinking a flat surface will probably work best. Even though Mario Galaxy-like planets are super cool to look at.
I hope everyone else is having a blast with their projects! This is my first Ludum Dare and I'm lovin it! Best of luck to everyone, I'll see you tomorrow!

Absolutely no idea what I'm doing but I've got a start  https://dbr.ee/8A8a
If you're actively avoiding thinking in terms of planets (because of course everyone is doing the damn planets), this theme is extremely difficult.
It pretty much strips the theme down to being a narrative theme, i.e. nigh useless. I hate it.
First song i hear on spotify is about a small world :D Title: Only Songs Album: The World We Built By: The Wild Reeds
Haha just listen to it ;)
Let's go. Have fun everybody!
first time for me. Let's give this a try.
Got the game Idea and the work is in progress !!!!
Hope I'll actually finish something this time. :D GameMaker Studio 2 is ready to go!
http://imgur.com/f7hjrfo this is the map's layout for my game at the moment, but it will probably be different when its done
I'm working with an artist to create something very small, since this is my first Ludum Dare jam.
Let's see how it goes!
(Hopefully) Got some breakfast and coffee, had a little think and... Let's get started!
