Hi everyone! We renamed game to Cryoshock. This month we focused on creating battle mechanics. I would love to hear feedbacks from you guys. We worked really hard and want to provide our best so leave any thoughts/ideas about game aswell.

That's a short tower defense, but your ressource, instead of coming from the number of ennemies you've killed, is the money that you have not spent. A nice refreshing twist.

Hey everyone !
I was happy to participate to the last Ludumdare. It was hard to concentrate on gamedev (I wasn't able to work the sunday, so I worked saturday and monday and posted as Jam), but I'm very enthusiast as I tested Vue.js technology, and, for developing management game, it's a very cool discover !
I started to continue working on my game concept (Oil Tycoon) and create a new game based on it. Here is a WIP screenshot :

Why is it only now I decided to rate games again? I can't go through all 50 though my list in 2 hours! :disappointed_relieved:
Other than that, I actually managed to complete that self-imposed 100 artwork challenge in a matter of two weeks! All before the 24th. However, I can't really draw for about a week after. My hand hurts. Don't worry, it is still recovering!
(Sidenote: Nintendo! Please allow publishing to Nintendo Switch on GameMaker! >:T)

I currently don't have a flight/hotel/anything booked for the Game Developers Conference. *cough* I'm actually looking for work in the new year, ideally something LD/GDC friendly, but I don't yet know if that will be the case. January is my month to pull together a portfolio/resume, and wrap up a bunch of LD and non-LD stuff I had to push until later for LD40's sake (finish closing my games biz, etc).
So hey, FYI: It's not the end of Ludum Dare when you see me talking about job hunting on Twitter, okay? :wink:
You're welcome to reach out (/contact), but I wont be ready with anything formal until month's end.
Back to the original point: at the moment I'm not going to GDC, but that could change.

For now lets train a bit in love2d and lua to avoid the struggling, and lets make something epic in LD41 =D
So somehow I brainwashed myself into thinking the rating period was ending on 31st. So today I wake up, and I think to myself, I'm gonna slowly go and start gathering ratings a few days in advance... Only to find out I have like 2 hours left and 10 ratings to go. So I made myself some breakfast, a nice warm tea, turned up the heater, got myself all cozy. And proceeded to panic.
As a result of the ensuing playing/rating spree I did manage to bump our game to the top of the queue, but ratings came too slow and I only managed to gather 16/17 ratings for us. We did get results nonetheless though. And I have very mixed feelings about these.
On the one hand some of these are really great - I mean holy crap, we got 666 in theme, that's pretty damn metal. On the other hand, I can't shake the feeling this is all undeserved. We didn't get enough ratings. There are folks out there who got into the top 100 with 50-80 ratings, meaning their results are more objective. As far as anyone is concerned, we could have just hired 17 hitmen to assassinate LD-goers and rate us from their accounts.
But still, kudos to those hitmen. They might be merciless killing machines, but they did have the heart to give us those ratings despite there being only a very small monetary bonus for doing so. So thanks to all.

As you can see I've made improvements in everything but mood (entered for humour instead (and got higher so I count that as an improvement)) and audio. Didn't have as many audio effects for this jam and the music was a bit rushed so I totally agree. These are great results though, I'm stoked!

:open_mouth: More than 20 ratings? For my first LD game, I considered it to be quite incomplete because of lack of time, so I definitely didn't expect it to receive so much attention. Thanks to everyone who rated my game so it could get a score! Now the jam is over, I can start to work seriously to make it more polished.
Congrats to all the participants! It was so much fun to make a game and then discover what others had made. Happy New Year and see you at the next Ludum Dare :smile:
I have to say, I didn't expect to score this high up. I'm not complaining though :D
As expected, Humor and Audio are my worst categories by far, but I hardly did anything for them anyway, so that's totally understandable ^^ Again, big thanks to everyone who voted, congrats to all participants and see you next time!
Something that's been floating around in my mind -- are ratings overall out of all rated entries, or in our specific section (Compo/Jam)? I don't think I really thought about it during LD38, but now I'm curious.
II placed relatively "alright," but am still very upset with my results. Why? Because my results are lower than my last two games' results, which were practically trash. I'm not saying this one is a gem or something, but it's just better. Think about the fact that somehow my first game that had NO MUSIC has a higher rating in audio than this game that had music. That just doesn't make sense. I also spent a considerable amount more time designing graphics for this Ludum Dare than I did for the first 2, and got lower score in graphics, which is appalling.
I suppose when you barely reach the minimum needed votes you get more bias from either easy-rating people or hard-rating people.
i legit hated the theme and thought my idea was no good... I can't believe it, I'm super excited about these results!! thanks all, this ludum dare was so much fun <3
