Babies with guns is my second entry for a Ludum Dare jam, the way my small game fits into the theme is that the more babies you carry, the harder it becomes to keep fragile things safe.
Please do check it out and leave feedback!

I had the good idea to wait the end of LD to get sick.
But even from my bed, I can still make a post mortem of this Ludum Dare 40.
The Game
Day 1
So Saturday morning, arrived in time to the office to prepare before the theme announcement (11am in Japan)... and it started well, my windows decided by himself to do a big update and block the computer for 30 min ...

Except that, I was a bit disappointed by the theme, because I was clearly more inspired by "You are not the main character" or "Death is useful".
Anyway, it took me ~1h to decide what to do, and here is a list of few other ideas: * a tactical with zombies, every time you make sounds, more zombies join the horde * a cat cafe manager with a lot of cats * based on the LD tweet gif, an action game with a flamethrower and lots of spiders ^^ * a hikikomori game (visual novel), more sun you received, weaker you become * a salaryman simulator where you have more and more work stacking on your desk, and you have to avoid dying from karoshi
I decided to avoid subjects a bit too much Japanese or that requires a lot of art, and finally I decided to make a city builder.
Spend some time drawing on the whiteboard, took a coffee and finally started in Google doc and magica voxel to create the basic map:

Around 3pm I finally opened unity for the first time of the weekend, quickly created a project with my basic setup (2017.2, visual studio 2017, c#6, resharper, dotween, unity cinemachine, post processing stack, ...) The rest of the day was pretty straightforward.
Just wasted a bit of time with the unity navmesh system (pathfinding), but mostly because I don't have much experience with this component. And at the end of the day, I had the basic mechanic:

Day 2
Sunday was a good day, I was really efficient. I got the game states, menu, and cameras integrated in less than 2 hours. My biggest issue was related to lightning, some of my shadow were not baked and I was around 500 draw call mostly for the shadows ... took me 2-3h to find a decent solution which looks good enough and has good performance.
Except that, I spend half of my day making models for each type of building and working on those icons.
At the end of the day I was kinda happy, but it was not really polish and there was still no sound

Day 3
Monday, I forgot to take a day off so I had to go to work.
I saved every minute possible to work on the game (skipped lunch, stopped early). I managed to add lots of sound effect, smoke particles, water shader, make the UI more obvious, added the red arrow and work a bit on the game balance. I got my first feedback less than 6 hours before the final build, which help me to improve a bit the game feel.

I also spend a bit of time on tooling, for example a simple component to randomize my props (tree, flowers, ...)

After that upload on itch.io, realized it was the wrong build, repupload and the game was online 10 hours before the deadline ~2AM.
First time I use this website to publish a game and it's really user friendly
Conclusion
This LD40 was a good experience and I'm happy with what I managed to deliver. There are still few small bugs, not obvious ui or missing explanation but except that, it works quite well.
If I had to redo it, what I would like to change: * ask for feedback earlier in the development * spend more time training on third-party tools before (like magica voxel this time) * not doing it alone (too much art, models and sounds to make and integrate for a developer like me /o\ )
Sorry, this post is a bit longer than expected ^^
Wow, my game got 13 votes quite quickly. Just a few more to go. Would of course like feedback.

Catcontent… always… works!
No? Well, that's a bummer.
It's a little arcade-ish RTS. People say it's complicated but you'll probably get the hang of it once you play a couple of times. So build up those monuments!
Or not. It's your choice after all.

I'm gonna play some more of your games today once I'm back home from school ;)
Thanks you for the ratings ! we win a final score after rate times, it's very important for we. Thanks you ! <3 <3

Hello there,
After some really great feedbacks, I decided to add some new gameplay mechanics for the game. Now the gangs can go on a rebellion if the police make a good enough job

It is still a WIP though, and I believe it's against the rules to modify the original game after posting it. You may check the Ludum Dare compo version here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/greed-mania
Have fun! :D

Just want to make it clear that I've made some minor fixes to the game:
I have not changed any aspects that would affect gameplay or graphics as that would deviate the game too far from the original compo entry uploaded on Monday morning. The Windows build will not change for comparison sake.
Play Life's a Glitch here: https://gamepopper.itch.io/lifes-a-glitch
It took some time but I've now put together a narrated timelapse where I describe the though process, decisions, tools used, and challenges when making my LD40 2D platformer game "Robby & Coppy".
I also included webcam footage and captures while drawing on the iPad this time. If anyone counts how many times I say "I ended up with" - you get extra credit! =)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXS9gZ671sY
This also acts as somewhat of a postmortem but I may add one in written form too.

Hi! I'm Gastric Sparrow and this is an unnecessarily detailed blogpost about my journey, goals and lessons from my Ludum Dare 40 entry, "Noah's Apartment". Hopefully there's something you can take away for your next game jam(s)!
So many cute animals whose lives are in your hands!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/noahs-apartment (Please vote - I just need 6 more! #shameless)
Noah's Apartment is a puzzle game about animals, where the more pets you have, the harder it is to keep them from eating each other. It's inspired by that riddle where a farmer brings a wolf, a goat and a cabbage to a river, and has to paddle them all across, one at a time, without realizing that having a wolf is kinda weird.

As this is only my first LD ever entered, second game jam ever finished, and third game ever made, I stumbled on planning. I failed to reconcile the Compo deadline with my weekend work schedule, and so ended up having to submit my game to the Jam. Lesson 1: Plan your time and follow that plan! It's all good in the end, though, as I'm not expecting a high score, just a finished game that hopefully brings someone joy for a minute.
I received the theme. The more you have, the worse it is.
Of course it was that.
Among the final themes, it was the one I had actually given some thought to beforehand, only because of how tough it was. I even discussed with my lab partner, who suggested making the game look worse as you go on (which is a unique idea in itself. But not this time, baby.). Even with the extra amount of thought, I struggled to find something workable and interesting for the better half of the day. I did some deconstruction of the theme, which is always fun to do:

Lesson 2: If you're looking to create something striking, the first ideas are always the ones to toss out. Money, power, inventory, etc. - all of these will be done by many and clichéd by the time players reach your game. Unless of course you can do it with such depth and finesse, in which case, funnily enough, the concept wouldn't matter anyway. But I couldn't, so... on to the idea generator!
At a suggestion by @XavierEkkel (who hosted the xkcd game jam that started this passion for me), I used a random noun generator for inspiration, and got “friend”. Interesting. The more friends you have, the worse it is? Perfect game for introverts! But still what should I do? Make a platformer where you avoid friends? Should I make it turn based? What’s the goal? Just running away?
I then came up with a slightly better “Fame Simulator”, where the more FANS you have, the worse it is. Hah, topical truth. Players would fill in a Mad Libs kind of information sheet beforehand about who your character is, what they do, what they make, and the game would incorporate that into the dialogue. (An example: You’re a pop star making hit records for "Moonmen Studios". You have to network with executives and fellow creatives while weeding out the leeches and avoid the crazy fans.) You’d have parodies of the big social networks as determinators of fame. Sounds fun, but also a daunting amount of work. My few problems were: things like morale and creativity were hard to quantize, and it didn't seem like I could make it fun (except for only the funny dialogues). Lesson 3: Know your limits (and know that time is one of them).
After work, I came home beaten at midnight. Why does it have to be a late work day? I was too tired, but couldn’t fall asleep. I kept thinking about my Fame game. I read other people's thoughts about the theme online through Twitter and Discord. Hmm, true... Tetris kinda IS the original "The more you have, the worse it is". That was when I decided...
Scratch all of it, I’d do a cute animal game. Pet-tris!
I jotted down what I could think of before falling asleep...
I read back what I had written down the night before. There were mechanics, thematic, art ideas, all jumbled like the thoughts of a madman. And a madman I was. "Herbivores are bae", I had written.
My game would have a bunch of animals plausible as pets, and what they eat. The most important thing was establishing an inter-woven food chain. It could be played like Tetris, but technically opposite in its goal, which is to accumulate instead of getting rid of tiles. It will definitely look nice, with animals morphed into little square and rectangle tiles.
The devilish thing: Players would have to choose between letting the pets in and throwing them out (because they're too carnivorous), and I figured it would be funny to have a text scroll that detailed that animal's demise ("Paul the Lion went to the sewer to find shelter, and later died of hypothermia"). Sorry. (Not really)
Then I also thought of Agario, and how animals could become bigger as they eat. They would be circular with physics bodies, and collisions triggering the act of eating. (I went with this version, but without the growing big). I kinda wanted to stay away from the Tetris thing, which seems clichéd to me at the time. Now I know that may have been cooler.
[Note: I also came up with the META idea - which is the more you have on screen (e.g. score / info) the worse it is. For example: scores eat up your fighting space / range of view; or information on screen can be read by the enemy and used against you. It’s cool, original, and would definitely strike a chord with people. But it was too late to change. I kinda want to see that in action, and wish I had gone with that, but... Lesson 4: Sometimes in real life you gotta make a difficult choice. Just like in video games!]
Sooo I got down to the Pet-tris idea. The first things I did was the physics body with temporary sprites. Then I made the wall - Tetris-inspired again. I hunched over polishing the animal sprites, making them as cute as possible. Finally, let them collide, and voila! Basic mechanics in the bag!
Beautiful assets.
Except it’s not. I had wanted to let players directionally shoot pets out of a cannon, but had trouble with global positions due to MacOS’s high DPI display interfering with Godot's pixel grid. In the end, like the mouse position, the idea went out of the window. And then there was the problem with timing, like how to determine how long the pet has been in the “win zone”. Sometimes other pets interfere, other times the pets’ polygon trigger the collision multiple times! (I didn’t solve it until it was pointed out by players). So much went wrong, but alas! before the day is over, I have most of the mechanics in place.
Lesson 5: Practice. Always have your main mechanics in the bag before you even start. Don't rush in expecting to finish it without knowing how. Cause it will go wrong.
I realised I didn’t have time: It was 2AM, and I have to submit in 10 hours. I needed sleep, but also I needed to polish, make the main menu and cover art, AND implement audio.
When I woke up, I had to go out for some important paperwork ordeal.
So the day started at 10AM, and I had work at 12. I frantically threw together audio, using a tutorial, but the art was incomplete. I didn't submit.
I'm out of the Compo.
As I came home, I calmed myself down. Sure it was disappointing, but I still have the Jam deadline to go. It didn't matter what score I would get, because I'm making this for the love of games, I told myself. So I added art, fixed some physics problem, and added tutorial text. I was going to submit the jam version early, because in my heart, it’s a compo entry. I still finished a game, by myself, in 2 days, plus or minus.
Lesson 6: You'll have goals that you won't finish, but keep your head up. It's a learning opportunity.
What I learnt through this magical experience was more than anything I could have asked for. Here's the lessons summed up for you guys, and some more thoughts:
Lesson 1: Have a plan and follow that plan. Always know what you're doing.
Lesson 2: Spend some extra time to mull on your ideas, your creativity will surprise you!
Lesson 3: Know your limits, and play to your strengths.
Lesson 4: Don't be afraid to kill your ideas. Knowing how to make difficult decisions will help your journey a lot.
Lesson 5: Prepare and practice.
AND ALSO:
Share. I didn’t talk much with the Discord / Twitter people, even when they were sharing ideas. I felt I was in no position to offer my "expertise" because it’s my first LD, but I also wanted my ideas to myself. In the end that hurt me more, as the only ideas I had were my own, and no one could give me feedback, and I couldn’t realise how bad some of the ideas I held on to were.
Change it up. Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. It will make it more fun. I've never done jams, now I do. I've always done jams on my own, now... It's still fun, but I'm craving more. That’s why I’m planning to do a jam as a team next time with another Godot developer. Two heads must be better, right?
Well the game is still extremely expandable (with a A!) and I plan to add plenty more in the future! Some ideas off the top of my head:
Water level: With more fish instead of mammals. And also terrain specific areas in the house.
Cat fight: If dogs and cats touch each other, they swap places.
Keep in touch if you want to see progress: https://gastricsparrow.itch.io. Thanks for reading, and best of luck with your jam products!
Provided for convenience. I'd still recommend playing the Windows version for full screen glory.

If you play this on Linux or Mac, please let me know if it works, I can't test this here.
Escape Infection! is a strategy game played with your mouse only.
It is simple yet addictive and you can always improve your score.
My best score so far is 194!
You can also play it in your browser

Here is a quick peek into the gameplay:

Have you ever dreamed of being a tacky, low budget, day time talk show host? Well time to fulfil that dream by playing as compassionate but not afraid to say it straight faux-therapist/talk show host Terry Pebble. Interview the guests and decide if you should play the shoulder to cry on or give them a swift wake up call. Sometimes to the truth hurts… and gets better viewers.

We started 24 hours late, there isn't much gameplay but hopefully you'll have fun anyway!

With the feedback received I improved the game a bit. I've changed the "keep pressing to jump further" mechanic for a simple double jump and balanced the gravity, and now the platformer feels even better. I also solved a few bugs with the camera on some rooms and added a trail indicating you where are you respawning after dying.
You can play the new and the old versions at the game page:

Thanks a lot for the good feedback and words, it really means a lot to me.
Let's see if someone can beat this time, made by a friend of mine.

In my compo entry, Hunt Together, enemies are "controlled" by yourself.
Everytime you bring a collectable home, a enemy will be spawned.
The enemy will go along you last hunting path...
The more you played, the more enemies there will be!
.
Hey, thanks for playing my game, I made a webGL build so you could play it in your browser :D
(tweaked the sfx that were a bit too loud)

Enjoy
Hi! I've removed non Web-GL builds for sake of only having to update a single file if horrible, game breaking bugs arise. If I make a post-mortem version, that will probably be separate as Mac and Windows executables respectively. If you haven't played it, I recommend, in my very unbiased opinion as one of the developers that you play it!

Hey guys! My game for this LD is called Ecstasy of Gold. I'm very proud of it and hope that you all play and have some fun with it!
Check it out at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/ecstasy-of-gold
Please, don't forget to leave your feedback and rate it!
Note: The original submission is the Windows version, but many people were just checking the page and not downloading it, so I created a WebGl build. Unfortunately, it has a slightly worse graphics quality, so it can run smoothly in a browser.
I put it on youtube so it's easier to check it out: https://youtu.be/qX-Xj0EDwpo
Hope you guys like it! Here is link to our game :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/lil-justins-fame-escape
I have received about six ratings in every category, but only two comments so far. As the feedback really is what makes this jam a learning experience, I'd like to ask you to try the game and rip me to shreds if you see something you don't like  No matter what you think, let me know!

Hey guys,
First of all, thank so much for your feedback! This is awesome, we are so happy that you are enjoying the game.
To celebrate this, we have uploaded a new version fixing the most critical bug you have reported! (One bug that break the gameplay at certain point).
Thanks from the entire team. You guys rock!

Fixed some of the bugs regarding quest progression conditions and the visibility of the return to home button. Also fixed a combat speed issue and some button hitboxes. Progression is not currently completely fixed so the trigger that gives you the ability to spend souls and energy is not in.

Thanks for everyone who played, commented and/or rated my game Goonisher! Got 16 ratings so far, pretty satisfying to see. =]
Tried to make a WebGL version, but it gets too slow when there are hundreds of enemies. I guess the physics usage right now is too big. Gotta keep the standalone version only, for now.
Anyway, thanks again!

RE-SANTA was an idea I came up with after sleeping in on Saturday morning. We should have gone to bed at 11, but instead waited till nearly 3 am for the theme announcement, only to go to bed just an hour shy of that time, and then lying awake in bed until it was time to read up on the theme on our phones... classic LUDUM FAIL.
It was an overall lazy but fun jam, and we made a game about being lazy all year long.
Laziness even resulted in the shorter name, even though we kind of agreed that RETURN TO SANTA would have been a better, punnier title. But alas, knitting takes time - and we had waffles to eat and coffee to drink.
Merry Christmas, for crying out loud.

My compo game America 2018 now has a WebGL version that you can play here, right in your browser! :open_mouth:
Here's some post-mortemish observations about the making of the game. What worked out nicely and what didn't turn out like I expected...
Let's start with the most obvious firts: the graphics. To get the weird "lowpoly meets marker drawings" -graphical style I used a custom lowpoly painting tool for Houdini to create the graphics. It worked adequately and I think the game has a pretty nice style. I'll continue improving the tool for future projects, especially its performance since it get pretty slow when there are lots of strokes.

The tool also had a feature of generating a sort of a time lapse series of meshes that can be then played in sequence in Unity. It looked pretty cool but it didn't end up very well utilised in the game. I used it to fade in meshes in the distance (so it kinda looks like a weird streaming/LOD thing) and fade out the monsters after they die (although I had to speed it up a lot to make the game feel responsive and they're bathed in particles so it's not that visible here either). So all in all, think I wasted like two or three hours of my precious time on an effect that wasn't that crucial for the end product.

I was originally planning on using my eurorack modular synth to create the music for the game. In all likelihood it would have been weird, awesome and it would have stood out but when the time came to make music I scrapped the idea. It would just have taken too much time, probably like 1-3 hours (which curiously equals the time I "wasted" on that effect I described earlier  ). Instead I just cranked out something in Ableton Live using familiar VSTs with familiar presets and some samples. I quickly jammed a few simple melodies and rhythms and then I bathed almost everything in reverb to make it sound, uh, big. A cheap trick, I know, but works well enough for something like this :innocent:
Regardless I am quite happy with the music since I only spent 30 minutes making it and, while the song is simple, it fits the game's mood well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kkcj12wyRhA
So how about the game itself? I think it's OK. I've never made an FPS but I just used the Unity FPS controller (with very little changes to parameters and code) and it did its job pretty well with close to 0 effort. Overall the game plays well and is mildly entertaining and relatively bug-free. I think the biggest flaw with the entire game is that the gameplay itself isn't that special and, even though I scaled down my initial plans during the development, I never really aimed that high with gameplay. I consciously wanted to focus on solid implementation and production values but I think I missed the mark here with having a too simple gameplay. Next time I definitely want to emphasize the game design aspect more.
We are still working on a PostLD version with a lot of bug fixes.
If you still havn't tried the game your feedback is welcome :D ! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/didgeribug

Because of the 263 people who have played and rated my game, I'm planning a post ludum dare app of my game.
Right now I'm working on new vehicles.

Hi there,
This is our first ludum dare, And both of us are new to the world of game development. We made the game on the concept of having lots of girlfriends and having trouble in managing them all.The video game was inspired by the movie "Don Jon"
We are unsure whether people are understanding the rules of our game at all. We have 5 ratings on our game, But no feedback regarding the game's design or fun factor or anything else really.
I would be really grateful if some of you guys play our game and leave a very honest review on the games design. It will really help a couple of newbies develop as designers and help us grow in the field of game development!

First of all, as always, it was a lot of fun.
Day by day debrief :
Day One : I focused on character design and controls. It's always a bit tricky to get the jump to feel right, it was okay in the end. Now that I look back at it, even if there's some recoil in game when you shoot, the character animation for shooting lacks life.

Day two : I worked on the main mechanic : carrying and launching the guys you have to save. It all went right until I tried to add a pickup animation. I fucked up and lost a lot of time (between 3 and 4 hours) for something that didn't matter that much. I also added a pick/drop gun mechanic and it was a pretty dumb idea.

Day three : "Okay, I have less than 16 hours. I have enough time to add ennemies, make music and level design." I did not :D. So I started the day by working on ennemies and I like them a lot. I had a bit of a problem with the shooting since their gun was very low but I ended up with what I think is a cool idea for the bullets.
I tried to cram everything else in what time was left. I ended up with 3-ish levels with some basic tilemap and no music.

In the end, I'm a bit disappointed that I lost a lot of time on some bullshit ideas. If it doesn't work throw them right away, you can't polish a turd. Even if I think the way I tried to follow the theme is a good idea, I lacks juice.
I'm pretty happy with the design ideas and the work on vfx/explosions. I usually try to make game in genre that I haven't tried seriously before and now I think I have a better grasp of the 2d shooter style, I might even try to push this one further with a focus on fighting/level design and gamefeel.
Now it's time to try and rate games \o/. MacOS and Linux builds will come tonight.

PS : Please. Don't do that.

Dick. I don't really care for ratings but I'd rather get an honest bad rating than a bullshit "I pressed buttons lul, now I have good feedback rate. Gosh I'm so lonely.".
Exploring a new genre of games in a game jam was difficult for me... Have a look at my LD-40 Compo entry and rate my game... Reviews and comments will help every new game developer to gain more experience... And I would say, Not only rate my game but rate every single game(if possible) which are more neglected and have received less than 10 reviews! As they are mostly new game developers and need experience...
I know that some of you might have seen my previous posts, urging you to rate my game! Well, I have received four reviews until now... And I still need more to cross the par of 20.

Almost forty ratings received and we are stoked. We were close to give up on Friday night after not finding that idea that hit the trade-off of awesomeness and do-ability. But the next noon with a clear head and a strong intention of going through this experience we came up with this idea of a simplified version of one of the ideas we had during our brainstorming session.
At the end of the development we were pretty happy with what we had achieved, but now we are even more happy at how good people are reacting to the game. It's true the game isn't perfect and it has some rough edges to be polished. Thanks to all the feedback we are getting, we now know which are the most important ones.
So far we are loving the whole LD experience, developing, playing games and sharing feedback with fellow game devs.
If you haven't tried Greedy Merchants out you can do so here. We hope you enjoy it and please leave us your feedback!
Hi guys!
Why don't you come check out our game ? It's free, it doesn't have any DLC or microtransactions, and it's not evil (I swear)

Currently 8 ratings to reach the magical number 20, it would be incredible if you would play and rate my game.
Just finished releasing the second version of the my game. The ridiculous double jump was fixed (in case you didn't know in the original version the faster you pressed the double jump the higher it would take you, so.... that had to go), some changes in terms of level design, so that it's easier for players to progress through the level and learn the mechanics.
I will be working on this project and I will be updating it constantly so if you like the game or you are waiting for the full version etc follow the game page on GameJolt and you will be notified of different versions. Next versions won't have anything to do with the LD since they will have increased content etc which break LD's rules for new versions.
Again, if you play and rate my game thank you very much!

Good morning everyone! (If you're in the U.S., otherwise good day :P)
The overnight response for Sugarplum Summit has been terrific. Thank you so much! I am going to write up a blog post about our development process and release it later today. I may even get our artist to write up how he came up with all these cute animations.
In the meantime, if you haven't checked out Sugarplum Summit, head over to our Ludem Dare page now and give it a try!

I love Ludum Dare because---in just 72 hours---you get to push yourself from that

Hi all, once again my
games browser has been updated with the latest round of games. Looking for something specific like an author or just for some keywords, find it immediately. In addition, it has a full archive of LD games going back to LD 15.

Oh, and while you're at it, play my game as well!
Why not trying our Tower For Nuclear Game. It's our interpretation of a simple Tower Defense Game with a twist regarding the actual LD topic.

Hi everyone !
First of all THANKS to ALL of YOU Don't Grow Ego made it to 20 ratings !
According to your feedback and my expectations I'm gonna fix the scoring system which isn't working well. That is the main thing I can do to improve the experience. I guess I'm allowed to do so according to the rules. The question is, am I allowed to add more sentences in the game ? I mean from a certain point of view it wouldn't be a new feature. It would be a way to avoid the repetitiveness. I intend to resize the answers as well to make it more readable.
I'll also think of a post LD version including a tutorial introduction for exemple. I'll probably make personalized game over messages too. That depends on your feedbacks.
If you already have played Don't Grow Ego, please, do you have any advices for features you'd like to see in the game ? In the opposite case, if you haven't played it yet, I can only encourage you to try it out. Here's the Game Page

Hi all, in our game you can experience a job interview as a conductor. Can you distinguish the musical instruments? :)

Thanks so much to Cryptic Hybrid for his review. Its such a great feeling seeing people playing your game (and struggling trying to beat it :japanese_ogre: ) Let us know what you think too!
Play this “meta” game! A game about making and playing games. Discover the truth inside a computer game as you fight to keep your players satisfied by building levels constantly.
You live inside a game. You are the real worker who builds the levels people play. But… how many players can you handle?
(Inspired by ideas like Wreck It Ralph, Toy Story and Tron)

No software comes without :bug::bug::bug::bug::bug:, so it was with our game. :slight_frown:
We are glad that LD community is not critical of such things but is always helping out when they detect them.
So if there's anyone who tried our game and it finished for him in like 10 seconds, that was a very small :bug: with very big consequences!
It has now been solved, so if there's a chance for another try, we would appreciate it :)

The more you have, the worse it is. The more you kill the orcs, the closer they are to you. Use a sponge to lower the blood level.

I'm quite lucky because I found a fun game mechanics at the very early stage of prototyping:

But I didn't stop there and turn this fast-paced platformer into a story-driven game:

I hope the plot could bring you a more lively character and a richer game experience.
It's not long at all, but does need some good platforming skills to finish it.
Read this tiny sad story
Hi everyone ! We were a group of 1st years Game Design students that really wanted to participate ! Feel free to play Double-Edged Arena. You can choose between two pieces of stuff that always have a bonus and a malus more or less annoying between every wave of enemies.

come check out and try to beat the top score on Money Making Miner! It is a fun 2d voxel based game, where you play as a jetpacked miner guy trying to mine ores for money, but be aware the more stone you mine, the less your profit at the end of the day! Note The physics are the only thing I didn't have time to perfect, so they can be a little jumpy, but once you get how they work it should be all good!

Pitures:

We made a cute, geometric strategy game, inspired by JezzBall and Qix: You need to clean your room, but you have to make sure your roomba doesn't run over your beloved cats! Luckily you've got lots and lots of barrier tape...
We had a lot of fun making this and recording cute meowing and purring sounds! Click on the images to play it! :3
I got a lot of reports of the sumo guy disappearing of the top of the screen, this has now been fixed.
I got a few reports of unpredictable/frustrating bounces, and a lot of that was caused by too much torque, so I fixed that too.
Thank you for pointing these things out and helping to make my little game the best it can be!
If you haven't played it yet, or were initially turned off by these bugs, I would love for you to give it a try!

So we did some updates to Iglu... BUT! the original submission is still up! So, if you're going to try it out, you should play that first, rate our game, and if you enjoy it enough, why not give 0.2 a try?
I also made a video while finishing up this update, and in the video I beat the game for the first time! Skip to 20:19 if you just wanna see the gameplay (3 stages + boss fight!). If you're interested in our thought process while doing the Game Jam, the rest of the video might be of your interest :)
