Fire, Metal, Flying, Magnetic Demons

I was stuck with family for pretty much eight hours today, and will be with them again for a long time tommorrow so I am hoping to really buckle down and get the game finished tonight (anything is possible with hard work and spagehtti code. While I was trapped away from my keyboard I did manage to do some work on my graphics so now everything doesnt look like the most generic unity clicker ever. I'm close to my finish line now just need a few more bits and bobs then I will have most of the next 19 hours to polish up the rough edges.
Here is a progress image and a video to see my sweet graphics in motion.

Basically all i've done is assets. A lot of assets.
I also made 2 tracks, one for the tutorial and one for the overworld. I'm feeling a bit tired despite taking a short nap an hour ago, but I'll push onwards!

Yeah so I fell asleep earlier so I'm a bit behind, but I've started on my game! I'm doing a smaller project since I wasted a lot of time in my kip, but I started with the sprite art. I've aimed to make it quite low-res to save time, but it doesn't look too bad anyway. I like starting with the art cause it lets me see how everything will pull together in the end.
I'm making a fantasy type tower defence game where you have to periodically sacrifice gold and/or your subjects to satisfy an angry god, while also fending off a horde of goblins who are attacking your castle. It's not the most impressive project, but I guess it's not bad considering I'm working alone - and this is my first jam! Thanks for listening.

And then back to hell
video capture for presentation -can see that greenshot should do
Alright! It's the dawn of the second day of the jam and here's my results from yesterday:

The game is a mountain climbing challenge where you climb increasingly difficult challenges using the frozen remains of the people who have tried to climb it before :grimacing:
Most of the basics of the planned core gameplay are pretty much there. Most importantly the physics-driven character movement works and is solid and it looks just as funny as I hoped it would. Freezing the climbers at the will of the player to aid future climbers works too and is not too macabre to not be funny . Previously the character was a ballerina for a while since it matched to style of the movements pretty nicely but freezing those characters turned out to be way too grim :grimacing:

As you can see from these early physics tests, I've kinda gotten back to the original concept of the character although in a slimmer shape since longer legs worked better:

The game can be played now - only some minor polishing left.

Making a my first ever 3D platformer for LD has been a very rapid learning experience. Turns out it's hard!

Can I use the post-processing stack in the unity store if I'm doing compo?

Finished up all the abilities / mechanics. Replaced all the spheres / cubes with some hand-drawn art (coloring todo). Started getting some procedural enemy spawning going.
TODO: - environment art - Better level ramping - Death animations (visual feedback in general) - Main menu - Restart - All SFX / music - Better coloring
Oh my...
Resuming the dev stream at 10 AM PST tomorrow! https://twitch.tv/frenchie144

Probably should have posted that I was in. The usual tools: Unity, Photoshop.
I wanted to go much simpler this time around, so I opted to do very easy pixel art. Progress is steady. Just added "blessing" of humans, and the "seduction minigame." Human sacrifice is on the way.
I have a basic idea in mind, but honestly, I'm just kind of making up things as I go. I think this is the first time I've gone into a jam without a clear plan in mind, and I gotta' say... it's a lot of fun winging it!
Cat fights for the Cat God!

Oh. And there's some stupid humans, too...

Here is a junior adventurer, treasure seeker who's our main character. He particuarly loves labyrinthine places... But this time he might regret his choice

And his dog doesn't have the same name.
It's probably about time for bed, so I'm wrapping the big day up. Lord knows there's enough left to do, but it's doable.

Accomplished today:
Todo:
Most of those are actually gonna be pretty quick wins, so I'm feeling pretty good.
