Just woke up, probably am going to have to work very hard today to get the mechanics in.

Currently: -I have a procedurally generated Road -I have a car with suspension

Time to do some work, also I will be live streaming here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeetCGxCYd4Un1Sizbq4Rbg

Progress

Capture.PNG Have to go to work soon :( but thankfully I managed to get the bulk of things finished last night. Kept it simple since I have quite a busy weekend, so I couldn't dedicate too much time to the jam. Now I just have to spend some time polishing.

Good Morning

Looking forward to another day of dev. Good Luck Guys.

Night 1 Progress

Today was a slow day. I didn't make as much progress as I was hoping to, and I wasted three hours trying to implement a new engine feature that wasn't really needed and wasn't integral to the game at all. I felt like I spent a tremendous amount of time today on not a lot of progress. I think this is because I didn't plan out my next steps much and relied on just jumping from one thing to the next.

I think another contributing factor was not really spending much time thinking about what the point of the game was. I had a core mechanic, but no narrative, no objective to go with it. As of now, I think I have the core game loop nailed down in conception, but I still need to build the prototype; the narrative is coming along, and it's at the point where I think I know what I want to do with it.

Time to get some sleep. Tomorrow, I plan to finish the core loop demo, and then build more of it out from there. I also plan to spend more time planning my next moves so I don't get caught working aimlessly again. We'll see how that works out.

From my question last night, I decided that yes, I do want to share more of what my game is about, but not before I have the core loop demo in place and I have the concepts solidly nailed down. I changed things slightly from where I was going last night, so I want to be sure I have the ideas solidly in place before publicly announcing them.

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day!

I think that all it's gonna be alright

We're working so hard since yesterday. We walked a long way now, and made our mechanics basics, we have a full story, we composed a soundtrack and now we are concepting the art for what we think it's gonna be a great game for our first jam. We even documented it all in a GDD. We are already pride of ourselves and we are hoping that we can publish everything until tomorrow.

We are making sacrifices.

Buying Station Modules and Shuttles!

ezgif.com-optimize.gif

I finished up tonight by finishing the ability to buy modules to put on rockets, as well as program the first launch scene (as you can see above). That's it... I'm out of coffee, and it's 3:30am... I can't stay awake any longer. Hope you all like what you see above! (and below)

That's all for now. Please let me know what you think!

Jared

Good morning!

Last day of coding, for us. (we got day-time jobs...) But we got something and I think we will be able to get something playable out there!

May Need To Bow Out

Got a lot of family stuff tomorrow and also on Monday so this is probably as far as i'm going to be able to get... I would stay up but being awake/alert tomorrow is important. Here's some gifs for your eyeballs

"Sacrifice" would be that you can only hold one item on your back and one in your hand and you need to collect certain things on each level potentially sacrificing good loots (or you would need to use up the precious item your trying to collect to power stronger weapons). There was also going to be a more macro sacrifice that i'll save in case I find time to finish this :)

Good luck to the rest of you guys!

First day

ld43.png

It's kind of like a boardgame!

(Not really though; I started around the end of the first day. Counting the LD days based on sleeping times makes sense, though, I think?)

sorry

How about some red color?

So, I added new mechanic (yeah, happiness), some tutorial, pretty scary orange sun and there is even some african-drums-like music! Oh, yeah, I decided that artworks is just so amazingly amazing that I won't change it:)

P.S. There won't be these grey stripes, it's just in-engine footage

End of Day 2

I think I'm done with contents for the game. It came out really short (only 8 levels, many of them introductory and super easy), but I must start working on some art and polish tomorrow.

This was a very interesting experience for me so far. Play-testing a puzzle game is so different from play-testing an action game! In any case, I still have tons of work to do, so I'm really glad I'm doing the jam and not the compo.

Here's a current screenshot from the first level of the game. Hopefully the game will look completely different by end of day tomorrow:

Good luck everyone!

Is this too ambitious?

We decided on crafting some kind of strategy game. You are in charge of an ancient maya tribe. You can place buildings yourself and workers are chopping wood and living in the village that you build for them. Houses are construction sides at first until a worker arrives there and starts building the house. The weather worsens constantly, reducing the productivity of your workers. But you can sacrifice workers to please the god "Yopaat". There is a lot to do considering the AI, graphics, models and everything else. But we keep it up and hope to include more resources than just wood. The plan was to have a food-chain where you have to build a farm, a mill and a bakery to produce bread, which you can also sacrifice to please Yopaat.
