[JAM] Good resource for assets

OpenGameArt.org is a fantastic resource for game art. It has thousands of assets, including 3D models, 2D sprites, music, and sound effects, many of which are CC0. If you are doing the Compo, it is great inspiration anyways! I highly suggest you check it out.

First time

My friend and I will participate in LD for the first time. We participated in 1 local game jam before and had a lot of fun. We'll try to take it easy, get some sleep (jeah right...) and first of all have a lot of fun.

I'll be in charge of the coding and my friend will do most of the art. We'll be both in charge of the general game design.

ludumdare.com or ldjam.com

so it's my first time and I am confused where should I register in ludumdare.com or ldjam.com and why there are two websites in the first place

Only 2 days?

This is so close. Hope everyone achieves what he wants;

First Ludum Dare - I am excited!

Sooo finally! I will be able to participate in this LD. For the first time. Well, that leaves me quite excited - and a little afraid... Haven't been the best with sheduling my time efficiently, basically ever. I guess this will be the perfect practice ground though. Luckily I will have the next few days off, so I may even find some time to prepare and practice.

Although I am not new to coding, creating visual art is still something difficult, new aaand extremeley fun and exciting to me. I already have some experience in sound and music creation - which hopefully saves some time.

For this LD I am probably using at least some of the following tools:

Engine: * Unity (mostly 2D experience, but maybe I'll get into 3D...?) * Twine 2 (w/ SugarCube 2)

Graphics: * Blender (If I'm getting into 3D) * Photoshop

Sound and Music: * Protools 11 * EeastWest digital instruments * (Probably my own guitars) * BandLab's Cakewalk (Free DAW with quite some nice effects and instruments! Give it a try if interested.) * Bosca Ceoil (It's free!! Check it out) * Bfxr (It's free!! Check it out)

I am aiming for the compo, but if that fails horribly I'll go for a jam entry for sure. First aim is to finish my game and have it out there for all of you to rate and review.

Good Luck everyone!!!

First ldjam

This will be my first time participating in a ldjam - solo participation. Idea of submitting a good game, let alone a game is daunting. I will be primarily using Unity as a game engine, Inkscape, Asprite for graphics. Will be one of the best learning experience.

Good luck everyone !!

First LDjam :D

Welp, first time participating in a LD event... (no stress) We (my friend (@proAFKboy) and I) wanted to participate in LD41 but it was during our exams so that wasn't really possible. I just hope can make something decent, let alone something we'll be able to publish in time. Everything will probably be fine, i hope everyone has a great time! (vomits from stress and excitement at the same time)

I'm in for my first team participation

As LD42 is approaching it's time for the usual I'm in post. Except it's not as usual for me as I team up for the first time to participate in the jam. My partner in crime is @meldrian who is a first time participant. I'm going to do all the coding and he will focus on the graphics. I'm quite excited to what that separation of tasks will allow us to accomplish.

My tools

  • Engine: Godot
  • Code: VIM
  • VCS: GIT with GitLab
  • Communication: IRC
  • Audio: LMMS and Audacity
  • OS: Arch Linux :penguin:

Lots of fun everyone and have a great weekend.

LDJam42 Prep

Getting my office together for the jam, making sure Twine, Unity, and GM:S are all updated. Got my food and schedule situated as well. Moreover I have enough whiteboards, dry erase markets, and board game knick knacks to paper prototype anything that this jam throws at me.

Here's a link to a tool for creating 3d assets: * http://meshpage.org/mesh_tool.php

I'm in!

First time in a year! Using the same tools as usual: eclipse with Java, paint.net, bfxr.net and audacity. One day I'll change it up, I swear! ;)

My First LDJAM and My First Post Here

Greetings from Ghana, I'm super excited and at the same time worried about how I'd do in my first LDJam. I do know how to do a little bit of everything from programming to making art to simple music, and I mean a little bit. I hope this doesn't go badly for me. I wish you all best of luck xD

I'm in. Again.

I'll have to make time to do anything more than an project, but if I'm lucky i can make something up. :)

Haven't done one of these in a while.

After putting off the compo for a while, I might give this next one a go (providing the theme doesn't completely suck, which it looks like it might do looking at the voting).

I will probably be using the usual:

  • Game Maker Studio Professional
  • Photoshop/Illustrator
  • FL Studio 20

Good luck to everyone.

Did some counting...

I've done LDJam several times before, but I was unsure how often exactly. So, I looked up Ludum Dare's wiki-page and started checking them off...

Turns out I'm entering my ninth LDJAM this weekend! First time I joined was in april '13 for LD 26 (Minimalistic). Joining for the third jam in a row (40/41/42) equals the 3-jam-streak I had with jams 31/32/33.

Also, I've recently started #1GAM, One Game A Month. So if there's any chance for it, I'll try to squeeze in their Monthly Theme for August - Heat - in as well.

My first time setup

First time doing Ludum dare. this is what i'm going to use.

Unity3D

sunvox

graphicsgale

Really Hope I will complete a project with these.

2 Days till LD42 ;^)

And hush hosh, 4 months have gone by SO quickly.. Nothing more to say my friends. (I mean not exactly 4 months a bit less yes I know ok ok)

My First Game Jam

Hi, I have been making games on and off for the last 5 to 6 years and known about the Ludum Dare for a very long time but this is the time I am finally entering. I will be using an engine I have never worked with before and will definitely put a limit to my imagination. I have been holding back from properly using it due to convenience and the daunting task of taking on a new engine but think this is the perfect thing for me to through myself into it. Any tips on time management, the engine I will be using or anything I need to know please let me know. Thanks

TOOLS

Engine: Gamemaker Studio 2

Art: Aseprite

Music: Garageband

Sound Effects: Garageband/SFXR

How to use jam or compo
