My First Ludum Dare!

Hello world! I'm going to be participating in my first Ludum Dare, and I plan to livestream the entire programming process to my twitch channel. Feel free to stop by to chat, see the game, or to give any advice. I'd greatly appreciate it! Good luck to everyone who is participating this year :)

Time lapse? Are you? Should We?

Just getting a feel for who likes to time lapses. Leave a comment if your going to do a time lapse and leave a link to where I can find it later.

Should NotSpaghettiGames do a time lapse of us creating our game?

The Final Countdown :3

T-24 hours to Ludum Dare #42.

To celebrate I've made a beautiful wallpaper for your desktop :)

Feel free to download and use.

Gonna give it another go!

Hopefully things will work out this time for LD -- going to focus more on the code than the assets this time!

Though I did get a few pleasant sprites out of the last try...

Participating in the Jam

Hey guys,

Is there anything special we need to do when submitting as a team? I read somewhere on this site that you need to add the team leader as a friend, but I don't see any options for that

I'm in! (With a new twist)

Hello everyone! I'm in once again for my fourth LD! I can't wait! This time is a little different for two reasons: 1. I'll be using my very own voxel modeling program for graphics! I made Voxelcode(https://github.com/kippllo/VoxelCode), a code based voxel editor, this year and I am very happy with the results! Please give it a try and let me know what you think! 2. I am focusing on making the game in a way that it could run as a mobile app, with the hopes of actually releasing an updated version on the App Store later!

Thank you all for making LD a place to dream and grow! I can't wait to see what everyone makes!!

It's getting so close

It's really nice to see so many first-timers around, just as me. I am getting more and more excited for the event. Everything is set up, software up to date, vcs repo in place and workspace cleaned up and ready.

I even managed to slip in some practice yesterday and today: creating some small art assets and music in a limited timeframe and coding a quick project in both the engines of my choice for this ludum dare: Unity and Twine.

If anyone is interested in following my totally new and empty twitter you can do so at JackousGames - hopefully it will get more messy as the event goes by. I would love to see some of your work while completely freaking out about my own project (I just know it'll happen).

Just less than 24 hours left. See you all tomorrow!

We are waiting ... Very soon!

Hello. Yes, this will be my first Ludum Dare =) Game Maker Studio 2 is open and avid, Aseprite is open and waiting. What to do with music? I do not know yet, but I hope everything will be fine. Maybe someone wants to join? Or me waiting compo ^ _ ^) Good luck to all!Снимок.PNG

Team Avekvist is joining in!

My team and I will be joining in for Ludum Dare 42, because who dares to skip The Answer To Life, The Universe And Everything? We will be three people working on this game. All three of us won't be in the same place when we work on the game, but at least two of us will.

We might use some in-house made engine, called Concoction. Otherwise, if it isn't finished until it starts (within 24 hours) we'll probably use GameMaker Studio 2. If 3D is a requirement, then we will use Unity3D.

Full list of software we will use:

  • Concoction with Visual Studio or GameMaker Studio 2 for the game framework. Maybe Unity3D with Visual Studio.
  • FL Studio for music. We will also use Audacity or Adobe Audition for sound editing.
  • BFXR for simple sound effects.
  • Photoshop and paint.NET
  • Microsoft Word for writing the design document, trying to plan the game as well as we can in the short amount of time.
  • Visual Studio Code for some website programming or so, with FileZilla and maybe PuTTY to connect to a server. Nothing is set in stone yet.
  • Github Desktop for sending the code and assets to each other, as well for easy publishing for the source code.
  • If 3D is a requirement, we will use Blender and maybe Autodesk Maya.

We are planning to stream all of it, so check it out at AvekvistSeffra on Twitch as soon as Ludum Dare starts.

Blake Content Team reporting in.

Hi! We're a team of 3 from Australia who work for an education company.

Our specialty is engaging and fun activities for young kids to help them learn to read, and we've decided to have a go at Ludum Dare to challenge ourselves at making a game from scratch with Phaser.

Good luck to everyone! We're extremely excited to participate.

An amazing find...

Yes, this tracker is definitely good! I wish I'd met him sooner. All the advice!Снимок.PNG

30 Hours

Is that enough for the compo? Im limited to that. that counts time for sleep, which = 0.

Pygame Graphics Tools

I'm working on some game prototyping tools for pygame. You can see my progress so far on Github.

Using Pygame?

I wrote some tools to handle sprites, particle effects, and camerawork, which I'm hoping to use for LD42 to free up the time I normally spend on pygame tedium.

If you use pygame, it would be awesome if you could give it a look! I might work more on this before LD43 with improvements and more tools.

Another question

If you use sound effects that you didn't make, do you have to opt out of the audio category? it seems too hard to make your own

game jams

What are some good weekly jams that i can participate in after Ludum Dare 42?

First time on Ludum Dare!

Hi, I discoverd Ludum Dare a week ago and I'm very glad that is in time to the LD 24, so I decided to participate, and it will be my first game jam also, yeay!

I'm thinkin' to use Unity and Visual Studio to the development, Aseprite or PhotoShop to the graphics and Bosca Ceoil to the SFX and music.

I'm super exited and hope to finish it on time for Compo!

I'm in! I think...

Hopefully I'm actually doing something this go around...

C/C++, OpenGL, Blender.

I'm in! With a new retro game library this time

Guess it's time to do one of these posts again! I'm in for the upcoming Ludum Dare!.

I plan to target the NES (with a web-based emulator) again. This time though, I've written a library that I'm planning to test drive!

nes-starter-kit is a game engine and companion guide meant for creating action-adventure games for the NES. Gameplay on the base engine is somewhat reminiscent of the original Legend of Zelda series.

It's fully open source, and i'd love to see others adopt it some day.
