Koala Squad is in!

The Koala Squad is in for Ludum Dare 42! This time around, we're going to do a post mortem of our game and release it to our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqHR4YskTCXG7RbGq5A7ePg

We're also open to reviewing your games, so if you're interested, just contact us by commenting below, commenting on one of our games, leaving a message on one of our videos, or emailing us at koalasquadgames@gmail.com

Good luck, and happy game development everyone!

Second Time's the Charm?

I clicked the magic button so I guess I'm in! LD 41 was my first ever game jam. Since then, I took part in a few others and I gained a bunch of experience but for some reason I have this strange feeling of being really unprepared. Fortunately, I have 27h to banish this strange, silly notion from my mind. I guess that doing something pragmatic like listing the tools that I'll be using for the jam seems like a good first step.

  • Unreal Engine 4.20.1 — Arguably not the best engine for a small jam, but I absolutely love it!
  • Blender — This is probably a pipe dream as I'm still not good enough to rapidly produce my own 3d assets and I'll most likely have to rely on the kindness of strangers, posting their stuff on the interwebz under CC license.
  • Gimp / Incscape
  • Cakewalk by Bandlab

And that's all she wrote. Good luck to y'all!

I'll use the LD to experiment a approach

I'm heading to this jam with an experimental approach: I want to try and tackle real subjects. I'll let the theme inform what issue or problem I should address, but I'll try to make it small and to the point.

In the meantime, I'm going to code some small toys and experiments for warm-up.

I'll be using: - code editor: vscode - browser: firefox + chrome - library: p5.js - image editing: paint.net + gimp - photography: canon ixus 180 - code hosting: github.com

Best of luck to everyone.

My first jam ever...

So it seems I'm joining Ludum Dare 42 :S This will be my first Ludum Dare, in fact, my first game jam ever. So nervous...!

I'm a programmer with epsilon art skills, so prepare for some horrible programmer art! I'm quite familiar with Unity, know a bit of Blender, and Gimp. And I use a lot of free resources.

Good luck to everyone, and let's have fun!

Bug in the website

I have encountered a really annoying bug whenever I try to write a new post or a comment when writing post's title with every character I type the focus goes to the description text and when I type a comment the colour of the text box shifts between grey and white

Hi guys!

GL & HF

Count me in for my first compo!

This will be my 3. Ludum Dare and my first Compo. I will use Java 10 without any game engine to create my game.

I expect a very crazy and difficult ride and I hope it will make a lot fun and produce a playable game at the end!

Livestream: https://www.twitch.tv/arknex (EU TZ)

Coding: IntelliJ IDEA 2018.2 Ultimate Graphics: Aseprite, Paint.net, Corel Draw x7 Audio: Magix Music Maker, Audacity Tech: Java 10 (+JavaFx), Trove4J 3.0.3, Gradle 4.9 Platform: Win, Linux, MacOS

I wish everyone a good LD!

I'm in

YES ... LDJAM 42!!!! GameDev is coming home.. is coming home.. is coming...

Our first Jam!

This will be our first Ludum Dare, and we will be doing the Jam. The new time works better for us, which is nice, as we're based in Ireland. We're hoping to just put out a finished thing by the end of it!

Coding: Visual Studio 2017, Graphics: Piskel, Krita Audio: Bxfr, Audacity Tech: Unity 2017.1.1f1, Platform: Win, MacOS, Linux

Why the Hell?

Why is there no one, really no one using Unreal Engine 4. Is it a witch hunt? I'm so confused! It's such a great Engine

Joining in for LD42!

LD41 was my first time around and I am super excited to join in for this time as well! This time I will even try to be more active with updates and stuff on twitter to share the progress ^^ Check out malmeevik on twitter and comment with your twitter and I will make sure to follow as many people's progress as I can! Always fun to see what others are working on.

Last time we finished with rank 161 in the overall category and aim to do better this time! Check out our LD41 entry here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/learning-with-mr-bear 🐻

I'm paulloz and I'm here with Kokonaught and Max getting ready for LDJam! Last time we entered was for Ludum Dare #37 (or #27 for Max) so it's a first on the new website.
It's also going to be the first time for us entering LDJam while we're not at all in the same time zone, who knows how it's going to end?!

Here are tools we're probably going to use: * Godot Engine * Krita * Ableton Live * itch.io

Good luck everybody and don't forget to have some sleep and a lot of fun! ❤❤❤

Planning and questions

Alright, I am trying to make a plan for Friday through Monday, and I’m realizing that I am not sure about the last part of the LD jam. I’m hoping someone can shed some light so I can go back to planning.

Firstly, I’m thinking of putting the game on itch.io, so do I link to it on the LD site, and keep updating versions until 4 pm (Nevada) on itch?

Second, any post mortem, GitHub links etc, does that go on LD game page or on itch game page, or both? Or do I put those in a blog post?

Thankful for any light you experienced jammers can shed on this. I just want to be sure I’m doing it right since I’m new at this. :) Any additional wisdom is also appreciated.

First Puerto Global LDJam!

This will be our first LDJAM in our studio. I moved to Tierra del Fuego (Argentina, near the south pole), and i've convinced my coworkers to make a game this weekend!

Very excited to work and see your games!

Ready for LD42!

Hii!

I'll be yet again joining in. But this time I wanted to post all about it on twitter as well. If you're gonna do the same please hit me up with your account, I would love to follow your progress this weekend! In fact, I just made a new account only for my journey as a game designer, soo if you're interested in following along, you can find me here: NessaMalmberg

Good luck and have fun!

Once more unto the breach

Somehow LudumDare always sneaks up on me yet I make time for it anyways. I'm going to give it another go and see if I can make something amazing this time around.

Engine: Unity Language: C# Graphics: GIMP

Well, best get preparing, good luck everyone.

I'm In - Ludum Dare 42

So this weekend found me with no girlfriend, and 0 plans.

Ludum Dare/

With time to spare/

With just me in my chair/

This will be the first time I have no distractions. The only thing I am not allowed to make this weekend is excuses!

I will more that likely be going with Unity as I am hyper comfortable with C#. Excited to just get the creative juices flowing before I disappear for a week or two into WoW, and then shortly there after school.

I have never finished a game for the compo but each time I learned more about what not to do. Should be exciting :)

Seems like any theme can win!

Someone made a strawpoll earlier today and I found it very interesting that it is so even.

So make sure you vote as every vote counts :)

3 Rules

Just give me 3 rules, guys

My first game jam!
