Day 2 Status (16+ hrs)

hud_signals.png

Knocking out some niceties this morning. Improved the HUD feedback by a mile. Just got finished adding a starting gun wait for the players.

Next is the power balancing mechanic. After that maybe a HUD notice of your rank after the race is over. Then will look into AI or level tweaks.

Night of the Unholy

You just woke up in the middle of nowhere. The darkness is crawling up on you and the only protection you have is your powered warehouse and your lovely weapons. Try to stay alive while banishing the unwelcomed forsaken and powering your generators.

Uploading game soon, it will be my first fully functional "Game" and my first entry in LD. (it is mediocre, plz don't hate just rate )

Almost done

Without a sleep, food and rest. It's look more pretty we had even imagine. Work on a background and little details right now. 2017-07-30 20.39.20.jpg

Visual Scripting

I'm trying to finish this open source visual scripting plugin for Unity while at the same time trying to create a game wasn't a good idea. I'll probably have to punt to the Jam to get anything done. :(

I have a good game concept and a lot of personal source code. So there is a chance I can code for one day and have something decent by tomorrows dead line. I'll have my 13-year-old help which honestly will actually probably slow me down.

Well it's something, but it's also not finished

I encounterd a lot of bumps on my way to make a real time strategy game in Pico-8. Now there is not much time left, so i can't implement a base building mechanic. And i really hope that i can still make something that is game-ish.

I Just Checked...

I just checked and apparently my game would've worked for 7 out of the 16 final themes. xD

So far, so basically done...

Well, main gameplay loop is there, graphical prettying up has started; still a few things left to do:

1) Animations for the remaining powerplants

2) Music - it needs audio, badly

3) More event cards; I want at least 60-something, and I'm currently on 36

4) Adjust starting cash, and add in code to make power requirements fluctuate per turn - this needs doing for the game to be "complete" for the end of the jam, but shouldn't take more than 20 min or so (hence the post title)

I'm running with "Out of Power" as the title for the game at the moment.

Note the new background instead of the plain blue, and the adjusted manual power plant icon replacing the old stickfigure. test.gif

Finished 'early' (Because Australia, it is 4am here ). Hope you like it! It is a game about 'Power Down'.

7 Hours left! Test build.

Hey everyone. With only 7 hours left I imagine most of us are scrambling. So why not a quick distraction? I just put an updated build of my game on my website here. http://www.shorremccolman.com/deliverydrain

WASD to control the car. W to park your car at a pickup or dropoff location. Note that you cant actually win yet, the deliveries will not register on the bottom. LD396.PNG

So this is very late but...

I posted on my twitter that I probably won't do Ludum Dare this time because of how exhausted I was from work. But it looks like I've changed my mind somehow.

Progress on Sunday

Well, I have something!

I decided to make a tower defense game! I'm not sure why, I don't have a huge interest in the genre, but I came up with something that worked for the prompt and seemed doable, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The prompt tie-in is that you start out with more than enough power to run your defense towers, and you get progressively less every round, while the enemy line up stays the same. So the first couple of rounds let you plan where you can cut back when you have less resources.

So far, I've got some little enemies moving around a path, and towers that shoot them. I guess all this might not have been a super challenging task, but I was surprised by few major roadblocks I ran into. I guess I'm more comfortable with Unity than I thought! I was particularly proud of being able to create a good targeting system for the towers. It took a bit to come up with the proper data structure, but once I got it down it worked shockingly well and I haven't see any wonky behavior yet!

Obviously I need to work on the models and textures, but it works! My next step is being able to arbitrarily place towers, which I think will be a pretty meaty task, but once I get it, the rest of the basic game structure should be done! I have high hopes for having a decent something done on Monday!

Jam Day 2

Happy to not be in the compo...

In our second day we've our plattformer engine working pretty good with some of the core mechanics:

  • Losing energy every second.
  • Charging energy on the charger zones.
  • Getting some energy from gems.
  • Level manager. ...

We want to force the player to stop on the charger zones, take a breath, and decide his next steps.

Lost In Spb

I don't know what happens in the end. Two long days the puzzle is not folded. And only when all the dialogues surly Russian from St. Petersburg was added to the game. I was finally able to enjoy the fun text adventure in the dark city on the Neva river. PS They are not gloomy, just serious. =)pimgpshemfullsize/emdistr.png
