Third Person Controller Working!
A real bitch to get the Miximo animations to work with Unity3d. Now I'm writing the third person camera. Something like Alice.

We completely forgot about LD44 and only started many hours in and even fell sick. Will we finish the jam this time? who knows!
But in 'Can I have 5 Minutes?", you are a Bank who hires agents to help sell policies / promote the bank accounts etc. The unsuspecting passer-bys are resistant to your pestering but hey, nothing a team of agents can't handle!
You need income to keep your bank alive and your agents need to be paid too! And we can't forget about rewarding our agents when they perform well with a bigger paycheck no?
Here's some of the art :P

wow, those last few hours where very productive for shadow seekers we created the health system, we finally have some gameplay and semi interesting combat, we worked on our randomizing system and we created more diverse rooms.
goodnight (morning) to all
Hey Guys,
Been putting off learning Unity and gaming for a while now. I thought i'd enter to push myself. Don't expect the most fancy game from me, will mostly be my take on various tutorials and trying to get my ideas to match my coding knowledge.
Be gentle :)

It's day one, and it's totally just asteroids... so far!
I hear the cries of woe and despair, but fear not, this is as planned. We've decided to take the theme and make CASHTEROIDS (patent pending). Essentially, yes, this game is an asteroids clone, however, between stages you can sell your ship's hull for more upgrades and weapons! The core mechanic comes down to learning how to balance your max health as well as the number of upgrades on your ship. As stages get more challenging, does it benefit you to have a decked-out arsenal, or would it be better to instead have the thiccest hull in the galaxy? Either decision you make, our sleazy alien shopkeep is more than happy to cut you a deal.

Hi guys!
Just like yesterday, we started at 8AM here. Some of us are trying to compose music and gosh that's not easy at all, especially when it's the first time you try it but well we should all learn new things during jams right? One of our members has decided to try drawing and editing sprites for our game and she amazed us all because she's doing so great! Let's just listen to some really good music, like Pokémon Reborn's OST, and get back to working on LMMS. Hopefully we'll have a combat music and a menu music before lunch!

I hope everything's turning great for each of you and don't forget to drink water, eat properly, take breaks and sleep!
Well its getting there but slower than i would like.
Unfortunately this was one of the 2 themes i had really no ideas for before i started and all ideas after the theme was announced i would either not like to play myself, would be to farfeched or just impossible to make in the time i have.
Anyway i decided to not go crazy and sleep like normal. Anyway i deiced to use currency as in electricity and try to have fun with that.

We got some progress done after 2 days and its really coming along.
Enemies, Spawning, Attacking, are all working.
The artists on our team are working on some more animations, as well as enemies to replace the stick figure sprites.
We might cut it close but hopefully it will all be worth it!
Initially, I wasn't very inspired by the theme, but as I started tackling it from different directions, I came up with some interesting ideas.
One of them was something deep and phylosophical about how much do you value your own life and for what would you be willing to lose it.
Another one was market with many currencies, one of them being your own life. When you trade your life, you have some chance of dying.
Next was a dystopian post apocalyptic text adventure with social points system, where you are trying to prove to a tribunal that you live a life worth living so they don't execute you and yada yada yada.
But then finally it struck me. Slavery. I don't think I have seen that interpretation yet, and it is a very workable topic.
For some reason, I came up with an idea of renaissance slavery, where you are a rennaissance "artist", and in fact are just trading slaves so you have the most diverse art gallery ever. Each slave will have a skillset, and will "produce" different types of art (or money to buy more slave or food to feed the slaves you already have). You will be able to also work on specific types of art, making that skill grow on your character.
The other option was building of a pyramid in Egypt, as the slavery is more stereotypical there, but the vision of rennaissance is much clearer to me.
The biggest problem will be whether I can make 8-bit rennaissance music .
I hope to have mock up prototype within about 3 hours. Will report then.

My first game jam/Ludum Dare and first time actually making a game with the intent of finishing something and not just messing around. I haven't ended up with much, but it's been fun so far. So far I've still got most of the UI, Enemies, some sort of map, part of the main mechanic, graphics, and sound left, sooo I highly doubt I'll finish in time hahaha. I'll still work on it tomorrow and see how far I get. Good Luck everyone!
No sounds done, no special animations done, what could possibly go wrong! :^)
I fear that my game might end up too simple, I'll keep tweaking it tomorrow morning!

If you're not used to do so, I highly recommand you to take screenshots/videos of your game while making it, seeing the evolution and comparing the same thing at 2 differents times of the production really helps to keep up the motivation!
I am out for this LD. I just can’t motivate myself to keep working ont the game due to personal problems and issues. I will therefor stop working but wish you all the best, hope you will have some smashing hits.
Thats alotta blood.

now can ya guys can get outta my house?
New cool interface \o/

Yesterday I implemented the foundations of the game and then updaded the graphics to give it the feel I wanted.

Today will be more ennemies, more powerups, sounds effects, music and even more juicy feebacks !

This game only works on computer!
i have a code pessf destroys actor but it doesnt work on a npc which i want to work there but on my player character and idk y it does this and i m realy frustraed on ue4
Made a character, 4 animations (but overwrote the Walk animation and lost it), made a pulsating heart, and basic point and click movement.

But I don't know what to do after this. After spending 10h+ thinking about ideas yesterday, the one I chose wasn't good after all.
There is still time. I may still do something else.
Hey People,
I woke up yesterday with a mean hangover but I was determined to participate. I took a nap at some point but it just made it way worse. I felt like I really was getting sick.
I powered through and managed to get something done. The hardest thing was to come up with something for the theme. I'm not sure my game is a great idea, but now I'm just running with it.

Best of luck to everybody.
Ps. Can I show gifs from imgur?
I only did a part of the map interaction, and there is still a lot of work to do later.
Now that the main mechanics are nearly functional, let's make it pretty!

I'm having a lot of fun with this!

Here's a first attempt at Ludum Dare Compo. Didn't get too far, but I shall leave progression for another day. 😛
I'm excited for tomorrow as there will be ton of submissions to play!!🎉🎊🎈🍻👏 All the best everyone - cheers
Good morning yall!
After a few hours of desperately needed sleep we're back at it.
Check out our progress on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/remusnomos

We just realized that we're actually building a simulator. A quite stressful simulator. I think there is even something pedagogically valuable about it. CASHIER SIMULATOR 2019!
This Ludum Dare, we're switching roles. The programmer @marcari does all the art and the artist @fraukauz (me) does all the programming. Which, so far, lead to this: (Programming update following soon)

Update:
Lasers, doors and buttons to open them, and 3 locations

Well, there's still a long way to go, but that's how it goes.
Okay, background is changed and music is added. Now, I have to eliminate crashes of the game...

Sometimes bugs can be funny...

We would like to officially propose the category "most unusual implementation technology" and apply at the same time.
We're using Microsoft WPF.
Anyone else want to apply? 🤣
We were too tired to post anything after yesterday's work, so here we are!
Not much gameplay to show off so far, but bits are starting to fall into place. Here are some pretty gifs!

Never made a full track before. Spend some time on my iPad and everything turned out okay.
https://youtu.be/SgxvBPl2XNU
Time for me to stop for the day. Pretty good progress! I've got most of the base mechanics done. Just need to design some levels, get animations in, and add a few more sounds. I suppose an actual win condition could be good too. Gotta keep going!
Since I've scripted or... done any gamedev really. This is hella fun, but my brain is super rusty.
Still! Got something :) Gonna start popping in graphics tomorrow.
I feel like nothing is going right this jam and im just lonely listening to jazz all sad.

Struggle Now and making BGM for the Game.

Guys! How fast do I need to send in my entry when I have done the game? Meaning after the jam ends. And where do I send it? I havent found any information about that!

Arena is done, some fx is done including particle, game juice, pause, mute, etc. wave is done, 1 level is done including generated wave for each level and what monster should spawn at certain level. Towers are on the way but other structures aren't implemented yet although the mechanics already done for some.
my goal is focusing on Traps and make some assets again for variations. oh also really into music because current audio is just lame. One man job need more time I guess. Hope it's worthed.
R.I.P

I've just wake up and I would like to share with you some of the progress I made on the first day. I still a bit late, but it is starting to look like something!

That took forever to make up. The jam is more than half way done and stuff is slow going but yay? We're on ldjam.com!
I may have broken something and now everyone's dancing XD

Title
Ever wondered what is the secret of all the extraordinary rennaissance people with great skills in many areas?
The dark truth they don't teach you at school is that they were trading slaves with each other who created art and invented inventions for them, which then they published as theirs.
Concept prototype, progress after 2 hours.

Each slave has some skillset that says how fast he produces food, paintings, sculptures, music and inventions. You will be able to sell and buy your slaves based on which art forms you lack (as the final score will be geometric mean of amount in your art types), sometimes having exclusive limited-time offers from colleagues.
You will have to feed your slaves with food they produce. If you don't have enough, their HP starts to drop.
What do you think of the icons? Is it clear what each depicts?
I am also thinking of how to implement the dark theme. I don't think I can create dark atmosphere, so I guess it will end up with silly and fun look and feel. We'll see.
The art is about 80% finished! I'm gonna cry.

Little by little…
We are a bit late regarding the end but still motivated !
Coding is done. Now I need to start making art for this game. Here is what I have done for now.
Now i gonna do the story, tutorial, ending, credits, menu and so one

Its late. I'm tired. Gonna go to bed, and who knows maybe when I wake up I will be able to pull all this stuff together, but right now between you and me. I don't think its gonna happen. At least I learned some valuble information about myself and my development style. Anyway if anybody ever ask me "Whats your least favorite part about gamedev" my answer will eternally be quaternions and rotating things. I don't know what it is about them somehow every time they rear there ugly heads at me I am drawn like a moth to the flame, and the next thing I know three hours have past, I've done sixteen google searches, and finally I find the answer if something along the lines of "Don't use that function use this one". Good night and good luck to everybody still working away the hours.
Also forgive any spelling\grammer errors I am pretty sure the only thing holding me upright currently is the copius amounts of Mountain Dew Live Wire rushing through my bloodstream.

Almost done with my entry, want to spend a little bit more time on balancing the cards and polishing things up, but very happy with what I've got done. Hope everyone else is making progress :)
I have done a lot until now and i fixed even more bugs (s o m a n y b u g s . . . )
I have a working player control, a dialog system, a timer and randomly generated level. And I really like the way it looks.

I fall into the black hole every time and I cant get myself out dammit

Basic follow camera is done. I'm trying to decide if the game needes mouse look. I will sleep on it.

While working on my tactics game I realized that it Does Not Spark Joy, so I decided to scrap it and instead go with a plan B. Plan B is a Game With A Message, but not very much game play. On the other hand, it lets me to draw a lot of backgrounds, which I enjoy. It's more like an adventure game.

Too many wishes and internal engineering for 1.5 day compo w/o engine.
May be next time.

Day 1 was completed successfully - and got a nice concept that touches the theme in an interesting way too!
Also this Ludume Dare, for the first time, I am using Creative Commons art assets a whole lot - if feels less darey, but it allows me to focus on more gameplay. (and it looks wayyy better than my programmer art - thanks Kenney!)

Sigh, since I'm not an artist, creating the sprites are always the most stressful part of my gamedev journey. This Ludum Dare is no different. Buy I'm getting there and creating them nice and slowly.

Making Game Boy games are awesome as when the game bugs, instead of crashing, it turns into fine arts!
The game is about getting yourself hurt and exchanging your life for insurance money

I create a super-hexagon clone, changing the chosen theme for something a little bit different - your life is (con)currency. In computer science, concurrency refers to the ability of different parts of a program or algorithm to be executed in partial order, without affecting the final outcome. In my project there is only code - some procedural generation for shapes and stripes - no sprite, no prefab, no implicite value (excepted a radius PI). I have to optimize each part of code. Also I use a leaderboard on-line so as to save best scores. This way all players can rival with others. However I don't know if I can finish my project as a compo entry. I wish you the best. See you later ++

By the time i wake up it's off to uploading! But I did get some great "last minute" additions before i called it a day.
https://streamable.com/8epax
The world map, and all of its various inhabitants, is coming along very nicely.
What village with a population of ten doesn't have a thriving mafia black market, park filled with feral wolves, lake, and nuclear facility within a hundred meters of each other?

Must finish today, and I still got sfx and a menu to do.

can we hit 50 likes
We operate poor patients for their organs! business is business

Here's our surgeon trying to meticulously save his patient

A: When you're recording your SFX, of course!

A few hours into the second day for me and @re-markable and it's actually starting to look like a game. I have added houses, trees and a campfire, while Mark has made some amazing animations and wrote out parts of the gameplay we were missing. We now have a very clear idea of what we want the game to be and I think we can make something awesome here!
After a good night of rest, its time to add more content to the game.

Time to eat lunch. And hopefully do some more later.
Got some basic "movement" working, which is HUGE for me, as I'm not a coder . I'm happy with the progress so far.

Game map - a touch of Perlin noise, and if people find the game fun, I can slowly change characteristics of the map over time, either making the world harder or easier to live in.
I really hope people enjoy my game

I finished my game , wish there was more time I got school stuff to do so I can't continue the journey . I will download the finished versions couple mins later .

Is it against the rules to upload the game for the compo first, then upload a polished version for the jam? As two seperate submissions

It's not very exciting but it is a game nonetheless...

And here we begin our last day.

Took us longer than we wished for, but our main heroin, Karol.
And one of her rivals, Aziny.

Here is a little something to grace your desktop!

There is no story set yet, I have to add the quest system, the trading system and a lot of stuff!
This is what I get now. (Player texture has do be done yet, so I use a test one)

Entered stage when efforts are harder and results are smaller. Guess I am not alone here. Good luck all :v:
So we'd first said "let's make something fun!", and now we're wavering, wondering whether we shouldn't try to actually make something innovative, rather than something kinda brainless. So far we have focused almost exclusively on art, and like most of you folks should know, art can consume heck a lot of your time.
But hey! We have something that looks like and kinda behaves like a game :alien:
