Ludum Dare 47 October 2–5, 2020

Voted for Round 1!

My first time participating in the first voting round! I came in late last time xD My Round 1 Ludum Dare 47 Vote.PNG

I'm In

  • Unity

  • Audacity

  • Blender? (probably expect some programmer art)

  • Gimp

I've learned I'm much faster at making 3D physics based games. I need more practice with Unity's 2D workflow. Outside of that we'll see where the theme takes me.

Getting practice building to itch.io, practicing my weak points like making ui/main menus, and going to practice blender and animation in Unity, though that will probably be on the backburner compared to the items I know I can finish.

GL all!

Gifs

Some mediocre gifs for ld47. Feel free to use them.

I'm in!

This is my fourth attempt (I think). I'll also be working with my friend again so hopefully we can make something better than last time.

I'm in + Tools for You

I going to try for my 10th Ludum Dare! Planning to code it all in vanilla JavaScript.

Over the past year I've made some really nice open source tools to share with everyone...

ZzFX - Zuper Zmall Zound Zynth

A sound effect generator similar to to BFXR/SFXR but reworked from the ground up. You can save out wave files to use the sounds in any game, but the best part about using JavaScript is you don't need wave files at all! Just paste in a bit of code to play your sound.

ZzSprite - A Tiny Sprite Generator

Procedurally generates tiny pixel art sprites with options for mutation and animation frames. Sprites can be copied to the clipboard for easy pasting. It's great for finding interesting ideas to use as a starting point.

ZzArt - Abstract Art Evolution

Evolve HD textures for use in your games. The texture code can be copied and is ShaderToy compatible.

Two of my best games for those interested...

Bounce Back - Boomerang Zelda Homage

Bogus Roads - Lowres Retrowave Racing

Good luck everyone! ✌️😀

First game jam, but i'm very new to games as a whole. Anyone with an open spot?

A friend suggested me to take part in LD47, but after some time, i can't find any teams to join or any friends of mine who can make time. I'm somewhat nervous to join a stranger as i'm not all too confident in myself, but nonetheless i want to try! I can do work on Blender mostly, and have some degree of pixel art experience as well. I know it ain't much, but i'd love to do my best in a game.

Thanks, and good luck!

Important note for Mac builds

First things first, please, no "Mac vs PC" debates. Ludum Dare might be the only gaming community where I haven't endured a "PC Master Race" flame war, it'd be nice if we could keep it that way.

So, I believe starting with the last LD, we saw a this issue a lot. I discovered the cause of it, a way for developers to prevent it from ever occurring, and a way for players to fix it after the fact.

The issue occurs either when a Mac .app is compressed into (or extracted from) a .zip file. This included the .zip that's automatically generated by itch.io.

So, the precaution that developers can take is to put the .app inside a .dmg Disk Image file before uploading. Even if the .dmg gets put inside a .zip, the .app will be protected.

For Mac users who've downloaded an already-corrupted .app, you'll need to do a bit of Terminal maintenance. Richt-click the .app, navigate to /Contents/MacOS, and find the single Unix executable file. Open a terminal window and type in "chmod +x ", then drag in the Unix executable. You should wind up something that looks like this:

chmod +x /Users/UserName/Downloads/GameName.app/Contents/MacOS/GameName

Hit enter, you should see the icon change, and your .app should be good to go!

NOTES: Check out the post below from @outfrost for a more accurate/detailed explanation of what's going on, and potential ways to get around it from Windows.

I'm in! First Ludum Dare

I've been doing the Global Game Jam for a few years, but this will be my first solo jam.

I'll be looking to create a game for Oculus Quest. I hope there are a few users who can try it!

Tools I'll use are Unity with VoxelImporter, and Magiavoxel for assets. If there's time I'd like to make some music too.

Third jam

wow, ludum dare really crept out of nowhere for me and I didn't realize it was so soon

My last two times have been really fun and memorable and I'm glad I saw a tweet about it or else I might have missed this one  I usually do some kind of narrative game, but maybe I'll try something different this time :star: I'm in !

That moment you realize it's your 5th time

Wow, my friend and I are doing it for the 5th time now... I've just realized it. It might be our first-time solo, depending on which one of our game engines we will use

Hi everybody!

My name is motochorro and 666 is my luky number! Enjoy this blog and my upcomming videogame ^^ Luv u all :duck:

You mean to tell me Ludum Dare is 4 days from now already? And I managed to miss the entire theme slaughter? Did it even happen? I feel lost.

Themes are very good this time though, I actually like quite a few of them. Since there's no time I'm going into this next LD completely unprepared, so yeah, prepare to lose yall. 😎

Recruiting Artists and Coders

Hello (Thank you very much for checking us out)

We are looking for people to join our team for LD47 If you’re looking for a team, please drop me an email @ ld47-team@tolmera.com

We have a full compliment of Musicians at the moment - sorry.

You can check out my library of games here: https://ldjam.com/users/tolmera/games That should give you some idea about what I’ve done in the past.

Currently we have at least 3 musicians, 3 programmers (Unity seems to be the flavour of the month, but all skills are welcome, I would very much like to produce an HTML/Javascript game, but if the team skill weighting is significantly in favour of Unity, who am I to disagree a :) )

I’m a professional programmer for a career at management level, so this time for LD I intent to run a full team and co-ordinate all the pieces coming together.

We are currently looking for:

Designers and Artists - Currently don’t have any artists, to you can be the first!

Programmers - we need you!

Voice Actors - It would be very cool to have access to your silky voice, help us make a splash

Testers - Do you just want to play games? Why not play ours?

Socialites who can promote our game and play games from the community. - critical role, outreach and generate traffic to our game - we can’t do it without you.

Thank you very much

If you’re interested in joining the team, please email me with examples of your work (You’re still welcome to apply even if you don’t have a portfolio - I realise not everyone has the luxury of being established or having work they can exhibit)
