Ludum Dare 47 October 2–5, 2020

Excited to join!

It's been a good while since I last did a jam! I'm super excited to start. It'll be a great distraction from this new routine of ours.

This time, I am completely free to work. My last Ludum Dare didn't go so well as I overscoped, but this one is looking up to be great.

I am still unsure as to whether or not I want to look for a team or go solo. I'm a programmer, and my art skills leave a lot to be desired, but I still want to try and make my own art. I'm afraid, however, that it'll eat up a lot of time.

In any case, good luck to all participants![I hope you all have a great jam!

Slaughter Successful

Such a low percentage of themes that make the cut... But I'm doing my part.

Looking forward to my first jam.

Jam Number Two!

It's been a while, but I'm back and ready to try again! I've learned so much since LD44, and I'm excited to show it off. I've started working with ShaderGraph and YarnSpinner, to name a few, so I'm hoping my game will look better and have better dialog if it's called for! I also took away a lot of lessons from my first jam, like "don't spend the first day animating by hand in Unity when you're bad at/hate to do animation." There's also a chance I'll be working with a friend this time (fingers crossed!), so hopefully I'll make something really great this time. Can't wait to get this all started!

LD47 is here

Back at it again!

Hey all! Back for my 5th LD. I missed LD46 because I was starting a new job so I'm stoked to catch this one. Haven't been doing a ton of gamedev lately so it'll be nice to get back in the groove. Can't wait to play your games!

Recruiting for a team

Hello

We are looking for people to join our team for LD47 If you’re looking for a team, please drop me an email @ ld47-team@tolmera.com

You can check out my library of games here: https://ldjam.com/users/tolmera/games That should give you some idea about what I’ve done in the past.

I’m a professional programmer for a career at management level, so this time for LD I intent to run a full team and co-ordinate all the pieces coming together.

We are currently looking for:

Programmers - Please we need you!

Designer/Artists

Voice Actors

Testers

Socialites who can promote our game and play games from the community.

Thank you very much

If you’re interested in joining the team, please email me with examples of your work (You’re still welcome to apply even if you don’t have a portfolio - I realise not everyone has the luxury of being established or having work they can exhibit)

What tools are you going to use?

Over the last days i looked at this feed and scanned all the tools and software you guys are going to use. Now i am running a bit short on those.

I started collecting all my findings on this repository: https://github.com/wujood/awesome-gamejam and create a github website (for visuals): https://wujood.github.io/awesome-gamejam/

Does anyone miss their tools on this list? I want this list to be a guidance for beginners and to those who want to explore other tools

Obligatory tool set post

I'm in again! Going solo again after collaborating with a pal for the last one.

I suspect that I will be using the following:

  • Game Engine: Unity
  • Modelling: Blender
  • 2D art: GIMP and Aseprite
  • Music: I think I might shake things up and use my SP404 and Novation Circuit (hardly ever use them)
  • Sound Effects: BFXR
  • IDE: Visual Studio

But, maybe I'll change my mind and try to make something for the web using Phaser or something.

A two day game jam is the perfect time to learn something new, right?! ... right?

Potentially looking for a team!

Hello! I'm a 2D-focused Unity developer potentially looking for a team for Ludum Dare 47. I've had pretty medicore experiences with teams the last couple times I participated in a team, but I'd like to give it another shot this time. I do programming, but I can also do pixel art to an extent, music, and sound design. For this jam, I'd like to find an artist so I can focus all of my time to programming mechanics for the game. You can check my previous Ludum Dare entries 42-46 here: http://ldjam.com/users/mertios/games During Ludum Dare, I spend pretty much all of my waking hours working on the game, so I'd like to find someone with similar dedication. I'm really looking forward to the jam; DM on Discord if you're interested, my username is Elnu#2917

Sign Ups

Me and my friend are planning to do the game jam again and I was wondering if we had to sign up or not.

Looking for Team? [FOUND]

Hi! This is my first game jam, and I'm looking for a team; I program. I have some amount of experience with Unity-- the basics-- but lots of experience with Java and I'm super willing to learn. I'm almost completely free for the weekend, save for like 3-4 hours of other commitments. If you're open to having me on your team, please message my discord ansa#4292!

HYPED!!! for Ludumdare 47

Super excited to be participating in my second Ludumdare with my friend @huthuthunter this upcoming Saturday AEST.

We have been practicing making small games since the last Ludumdare and are a lot more familiar with the softwares and game creation process now.

We are planning to use these tools:

Unity (Game engine of choice)

Visual Studio Code (IDE of choice)

Aseprite (Art software of choice)

FL Studios (Music software of choice)

Audacity (Soundtrack editing software)

BFXR (Sound Effect software of choice)

Been checking all my softwares are up to date, planning a schedule for the three days and slowly getting through the massive 2500+ entries in the theme slaughter round. Hope the theme is good and can be interpreted creatively in many ways and that our game is quite a lot better than our previous attempt at the game jam when we had no coding or game creation experience... r.i.p -Sprout-

Can't wait : )

My Votes.

Actually really pleased with the themes in round 1...

Only one downvote - and that's more or less only because I wanted to have at least one... (yeah - sounds dumb)

LD47.png

Fact of the matter is... I KNOW I'll be struggling with the artwork and that wont be caused by any specific theme it's just lack of skills / experience (yeah I know... the sentence screams... "Go practice then...!")

Artists needed! Programmers too :)

Hello (Thank you very much for checking us out)

We are looking for people to join our team for LD47 If you’re looking for a team, please drop me an email @ ld47-team@tolmera.com

We have a full compliment of Musicians at the moment - sorry.

You can check out my library of games here: https://ldjam.com/users/tolmera/games That should give you some idea about what I’ve done in the past.

Currently we have at least 3 musicians, 3 programmers (Unity seems to be the flavour of the month, but all skills are welcome, I would very much like to produce an HTML/Javascript game, but if the team skill weighting is significantly in favour of Unity, who am I to disagree a :) )

I’m a professional programmer for a career at management level, so this time for LD I intent to run a full team and co-ordinate all the pieces coming together.

We are currently looking for:

*Designers and Artists - Currently don't have any artists, to you can be the first! *

Programmers - we need you!

Voice Actors - It would be very cool to have access to your silky voice, help us make a splash

Testers - Do you just want to play games? Why not play ours?

Socialites who can promote our game and play games from the community. - critical role, outreach and generate traffic to our game - we can't do it without you.

Thank you very much

If you’re interested in joining the team, please email me with examples of your work (You’re still welcome to apply even if you don’t have a portfolio - I realise not everyone has the luxury of being established or having work they can exhibit)

Liking this so far!

Pretty good selection to choose from! The Slaughter really cut the wheat from the chaff so far
