First Ludum Dare
Ahh this is my first Ludum and I'm excited as frick! I requested time off for this like months ago and I'm pretty sure they are going to make me work >=( jerks. But I'm still going to try my best

Our team are ready to participate in this once again. And our main mission to create a new original experience for players. And we set to goal, that we will create a non violent game on this time. Good luck everyone!
As the first time was so much fun I decided to participate in as many jams as possible! Also going to stream the entire process: https://www.twitch.tv/miroreflect
I've been putting together a simple MonoGame project template to make starting my next Ludum Dare game a bit faster. It contains stuff like input management and support for multiple screens, the boring stuff I always need to write when starting a new MonoGame project.
I thought I should probably post it here: https://github.com/Wekaj/LudumDareTemplate
Feel free to use it as well if you want!
Thank you to all who answered my previous blog posts! Though, I wanna do the Jam and not the Compo but I don't know how I pick. Please tell me!
I can't believe it's been over a year since I participated last time (LD42). Looking forward to it. And if you are figuring out where to host your game, I just wrote a blog post about hosting using GitHub page. https://posworkshop.space/posts/godot-deploy-web-export-to-github/
I hope it will be useful for someone.
Good luck!
And remember, food/water/rest
Lets get this bread gamers
This will be a solo effort and my first time participating in a game jam. I have developed several prototype games for class projects and some slightly more finished educational game products for clients, but this’ll be a bit of a “get the gears turning and scrape the rust off” effort. Looking forward to the theme and joining in the frenzy!

More than fifteen hours to go. That's too long. I can't wait that long.
But what if I freeze myself...
test
I'm working with @AXLplosion as the artist for whatever game I happen to make.
however....
I've.. never participated with someone before. And...the last time I've created a game was in 2016...
What do I expect? How does communication work? Do we discuss ideas or I just ask them to draw so and so for me?
Obviously, I know some of the answers those questions, but there're still questions like...
"What if I make a terrible game and they never work with me again?" or
"What if they bail on me last minute?"
I don't know, it's just an anxious thing doing it for the first time.
I'm excited to see how it goes, and well. What happens, happens. Still...
Hallo you weenies!
Last time Ludum Dare was running i had a very very busy week, so much so i couldn't be near a computer for the whole weekend. Now im back, ready for a weekend full with no sleep, a lot of coffee and pre-cooked food! :)
Because people love these, here are the stuff im using:
💀 GameMaker: Studio: The game engine i have been using since 2013!
💀 Aseprite: A very nice pixel art program, i like it...10/10!
💀 BeepBox: I make music right inside there!
💀 Bfxr & Audacity: With these, i make crazy sounds!
💀 Trello: Here i do my concepts, ideas and checklists!
💀 itch.io: This is my go-to place when uploading my games, very nice!
Just a pre-announcement that I'll be streaming all weekend. https://www.twitch.tv/inkajoo
It's my first time ever streaming on the web so this should be interesting.
Hi! I’m a 19 year old student from Norway, that make games And videos in my freetime. I’ve participated in plenty of gamejams, But somehow I’ve managed to always miss out on Ludum Dare. Not This time though, Im super excited to Get started! I hope we all support eachother on this journey, and show this community as the amazing place it is!
Unity :dragon: Audacity :musicalnote: Visual studio :writinghand: Bfxr :musicalnote: Bosca :musicalnote: Pyxel edit :art:
Anxiously awaiting the theme! Good luck everyone!
Well the worst thing has happened I'm feeling like death. Will it stop me?sickness will try but I'm going to make something even if it's the shittest game ever. I'll be drinking lots of water. Design the game based around a really simple idea. Compensate by using humour and fun 2d graphics. If I die I'll be happy that I made my last game.
If you're still not sure what to use for this year's Ludum Dare, let me share some game dev tech tips with you :fire:: 1. Write the game in PHP so the whole site has to refresh over and over to update the game world. Bonus points if you use WordPress or anything that's totally not meant to be used for any kind of game development. 1. Make your game in a language you've never used before because there's no more effective way to learn a new language than under the pressure of a deadline. My suggestions are: Go, Rust or good old x86 Assembly 1. Don't catch any exceptions, so when people play your platformer, they're motivated not to fall off as not to get an OutOfBoundsException that crashes the whole game. 1. Linux users often face the harsh reality of a number of their favorite games not being available on Linux, so to bring a little fairness to the world, export your game for Linux only. 1. Include a deliberate memory leak that slowly fills up the player's RAM until the game runs out of memory and crashes. This is so your players don't spend too much time playing your game and go outside. 1. Don't include common libraries so players have to download that one specific version of .NET because the latest stable release just won't do. 1. Make an actual Unity game and then export it as a server build so all the players see is just the debug console output. It's kinda like a book - they'll use their imagination.
you're welcome
Hey, we're team SWI-Prolog, a group of Prolog developers. Now, Prolog's an awesome language, but it's inherently about the WORST possible choice for making a game -as in, the only graphics support is via X Windows. So why do we do this? Because we're stretching ourselves. Because we're learning the boundaries of the system. Because we're lookign for the programming equivalent of a Darwin award.
So everybody like to do this so I will do it also. This is my first time in the Ludum Dare game jams and the community is so nice! I will be posting progress on twitter on each day (if I don't forget to post)!
https://twitter.com/sugar2000galaxy
Here the programs I will use:
:gear: Unity :wrench: Visual Studio (hopefully it opens fast) :musical_note: Bosca Ceoil :speaker: Bfxr.net :paintbrush: paint.net :cd: itch.io
If I'm able to, I might post a video on my progress. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish my game before the deadline! (I also hope Unity will be able to compile my game to a HTML version quickly)
This is my second Ludum Dare! The first one I did was a long while back and I remember seriously failing on scoping a game that can be made in 72 hours. I think with more experience in game development this time around I can finish something decent. That's my goal: simply to finish. I haven't jammed for over a year and I can't wait to jam again!
Can people list some free music software to create easy music for the jam. Chiptunes. Automated procedural music. Beatrix. Any others? I always find music creation the hardest part. Comment below help us out.
