Ludum Dare 45 October 4–7, 2019

Count me in for LD45

I guess I have a habit of skipping two jams between contributions now  maybe only having two per year will sync up better for me!

Anyway goals for myself are to continue refining my time management to make more rounded entries and to hopefully throw together a ~~blocky~~ abstract 3D game for a change this time, theme permitting. I'll probably use the same stack of tools as before even though I said I'd switch to Godot. Shooting for another Compo submission, wish me luck!

Tools: - Engine: Unity - IDE: Visual Studio - Modeling: Blender - Textures: Piskel(if 2D)/Paint/GIMP idk depends how I feel tbh - Audio: beepbox.co/SFXR/Audacity(maybe)

Have fun peeps, can't wait to play your games!

I’m in

Looking forward to LD45. People always say that the theme sucks but, why is that anyway? Is it because we have such different ideas about what makes for a fun game, or is it a lack of theme suggestions, or something else?

My theme suggestions:

  • Raise the dead
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Bollywood

What ever theme we end up with I wish a fun jam for everyone :)

Music/Audio composer looking to join a team

I have scored music and sound for films, documentaries, commercials, and several games. My work has also been featured by NPR, Huffington Post, MTV, Grammy Association, Google, Apple and more. Looking find a passionate team to work with and build my game audio portfolio with something fairly polished and presentable.

When does LD45 start?

Rather confusing ...

It says 12:00 AM CEST, but the counter seems to points to 0:00 AM CEST.

Yeah, looks like it.

Excited for Ludum Dare 45

Just finished another game jam in preparation for it. You can check it out here:

What makes a good theme?

A big complaint I heard last time, is that the theme was too narrow, so most games ended up very similar. So does that mean a good theme is broad enough to be interpreted in many different ways?

Here's where I'm at now, but I expect it'll change lol

My suggestions:

One Limit. Yep thats it. Waiting for the gears to start turning to think of more!
And oh here's where that generic "I'm in" post goes (its tradition for me)

I"m in

For the.... *Flipping of pages Fifth time! Anywho... Have fun!

Just gotta finish signing these papers to give away my sleep for a weekend....

i'm in LD45

i'm in

see you all there!

Im in i think

:) Might stream or upload a post mortem

My theme suggestions

  • Musician (Wouldn't necessarily have to have good music in it, but just be about a musician or the music business for instance.)
  • Deception (Trying to find new ways to deceive the player in some fashion could get interesting results.)
  • Leave out one element of game design (Can you design a game without graphics, sound, story, or some other element? Especially if the lack of the element adds some unique gameplay challenge. The missing element should probably feel important to the game, such as leaving out music in a rhythm game, or leaving out story in an RPG.)

I'm in for LD45!

This will be my 22nd ludumdare in a row. xD i started at LD24, and am still here :-). I’ll be using these this time:

IDE: Visual Studio 2017 Community - Microsoft

Engine: Otter2d - kyle pulver

Graphics: aseprite/paint.net -david capello/Rick Brewster; Tiled - Thorbjørn Lindeijer; ui lib - myself

Sound: Audacity - Dominic Mazzoni and Roger Dannenberg

Music: Musagi - Tomas Pettersson

Timelapse: Chronolapse - keeyai

I managed to release my silly bubblegame demo on commanderstitch.com if you want to tinker at that. I'm really happy how it turned out and I look forward to finishing all the missing levels. (the four player experience is seriously recommended (local coop, press esc and config all the controls. Pretty epic) I'm kind of feeling like I want the theme to really help me on inspiration on what to make this time around. These have been a lot of fun and you guys have been great to rally around. Good luck on all your entries this time around!

What good themes look like... ;-P

Due to LD's the switch from 3 jams a year to 2, the 7th Alakajam is almost clashing with Ludum Dare this time. The 48 hour jam is held on the September 20-22nd week-end, and we're now in the final phase of theme selection...

...the Shortlist ranking :sunglasses:

Only the top 10 themes (as voted by the community) are now kept, and everyone can choose to rank them in preference order. You can do it here if you're curious. There's also still time to steal them and submit them to LD I guess

I'm in!

It's been a while since my last game jam, but this time I hopefully will be working in a team! Recently, while game testing a tabletop design, two testers joined in on the development and we formed a team called South Gate Games. The tabletop game is still in the early stages (we don't even have a name for it yet!). Thankful to have access to a Kodak NexPress Digital Press for printing new iterations of the game for testing. Follow our progress on our Twitter and Facebook page.

This will be their first game jam, so I'm hoping for a great theme for us and everyone! Here are mine: boywithstickemThemeSuggestions/emldj#45.JPG

Can't wait for the theme slaughter! :smiling_imp:
